A friend of mine introduced me to this place and I really enjoyed coming here. I enjoyed it so much that I met a different friend for lunch here a week later! While it's not a traditional Jewish Deli, it's still a great place to eat none the less. Walking in, there's plenty of seating with a great menu to choose from. Prices are good and you can find most items to choose from whether you want breakfast, lunch or a dinner. Some of the menu items have combo deals, others don't depending on what you choose. I've had the French Onion Soup here twice now and really enjoyed it. I don't remember what I had the first time, but the second time I went with a Gyro pita lunch and not the dinner. Service here's great, and I think it's family owned. My only complaint is that even though I sat in the same booth both times, I couldn't help but stare at the carpeting. It looks like it needs a serious cleaning and hasn't been done in years. Overall a great place for any time of day and would gladly return in the future! read more

I stopped in for dinner tonight about 7:30. The place was empty and it took a minute for them to recognize I was there as the vacuum cleaner covered any sound the door made as I entered. The food was average. I ordered a sandwich combination. The waitress said it came with soup or cole slaw so I chose the soup. The soup was the best part of the meal but when the bill came, I was charged extra for the soup. When I paid I mentioned that she didn't say soup was extra. She apologized and told me she would tell me there is an up charge next time. No offer to remove the charge. I keep giving this place a chance but it seems to get worse every time, both service and quality of food. Buyer beware read more

Easy 5 star review! We stopped in for lunch, absolutely loved the pickles that was such a fun surprise and I've never had it before. We had to ask for a second bowl and the server was awesome about bringing them. Obviously this is a deli, Coney Island style restaurant so no frills and standard menu you'd expect but it totally hit the spot. Great prices and very tasty flavors that hit the mark. Food was hot, fresh, fast. You can't beat it! Our waitress was was very friendly and all the staff was welcoming and the place was clean and bustling. I'll be back for the pickles alone! read more

I have been a customer for 10 plus years. I went there last week ordered a regular corn beef on onion roll. the corn beef was extremely salty to the point I could not eat it and the portion size was maybe 3oz at the most. My wife ordered a SSR corn beef deluxe which they messed up. The wait staff had a real hard understanding what we ordered. The beef barley soup had not changed which was a plus. read more

Worst hamburger I've ever had. It was the Empire State Burger. It came with two pieces of ground and reconstituted shoe-leather with some stringy plastic that looked liked bacon. The waitress didn't ask me how I'd like the burger cooked, and I forgot to tell her--most good burger places will ask you--so it looks like their default is to cook it to death. The so-called bacon was just as bad as those things that looked like beef patties. I've never had worse bacon: it was hard and stringy, like a plastic weaved belt. Pretty decent food. One bad thing is the regular meeting of some cult or sect that meet there every weekend taking up a huge table in the dining room and talk some very crazy, controversial stuff that really should not be done in public. You don't even have to be easily offended to find something that they say horrific. Today one of the members said how they would gladly kill certain types of people. I've been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years. The food is always delicious. They have the best corned beef around! So very tasty and also lean. Perfection! Oh! And the French Onion soup is amazing as well! The waitresses are always kind and efficient. I've tried many things on the menu over the years and I've never been disappointed. Thankfully they've kept their prices reasonable, as well. It's got a clean and cozy atmosphere and is well kept. I have been wanting to try this place for a while. I wish I hadn't though. This occurred in the early afternoon of 11/27. As I was waiting for my carryout sandwich, I noticed that the one cook making my food was not wearing any gloves or a mask. He was also checking his phone in between, and even sneezed a couple times, all without washing his hands. I should have asked them to remake it but I was grossed out just being inside this place. I ended up tossing the food, because I'm certain covid was all over the sandwich. I'm sure this happens often, so I will not be back. If the kitchen is visible to customers, you'd think they would at least pretend to follow safety protocol. read more

Really enjoyed this place.. the service was great and has a very home like feel for a family diner. make sure you get the daily specials and on fridays the Mac and cheese is really something else worth coming for alone and I'm not normally a mac and cheese type guys but my kid usually order it. I was able to eat some of my corn beef and Swiss on grilled rye with fries but it wasn't very good. It must've been pretty old oil for the fries and everybody knows what kind of taste you get with that. The corn beef was not very moist. The bread was what I would assume is stale because it was very hard to bite and chew the crust. I go to the doctors next-door and have seen this place for years and this was my first attempt. Last takeout's have been a disappointment, the best corn beef in town was mostly grey and dry, the taste lacking. Sometimes salads and other things on the menu can be inconstant, a let down. There really isn't a middle from a 3-4 star but I'd go on the higher side and give it a 3.5 star. I had the Lettuce Wrap Dagwood and I have to admit it was tasty, the size of the sandwich was actually a good size! It was however messy... really messy if you put the sauce on their. The restaurant is small and and draws a lot of the older crowd to it, the waitresses seem very friendly and always working/running around. If you want a cheap meal that doesn't have thrills and looking for that simply style with decent/good food stop on in. I will def be coming back to try other items on the menu. read more

I mean, it's a diner. I don't know what I was expecting. My coworker talked this place up like it was the answer to all of my corned beef wishes and pastrami dreams!! Imagine my excitement! Caught up in the moment while doing bad math in my head, I pay and tip and head back to work. That's when i pulled put the receipt. $1.99 for the bag of chips and $1.99 for a CAN of Pepsi. Really not all that bad. My server was very attentive (they all appear to be girls in their 20's) I had the corned beef sandwich, that was really good! I think it was around $8, which really isn't too bad for a good sized sandwich. I could have eaten half and been satisfied, but it was very tasty so I went for the whole thing. The appearance on the inside is very nice. Its a new building, it was busy, although there also was a lot of people working. The past reviews don't seem to have an effect on what they are doing now. Regular hot spot for daily lunch with my co workers. # 1 the service is spot on. You're greeted right away, seated and not even 5 sec the waitress is already at your table. The girls there really work as a team and I love how fast and consistent they are. Food comes out less than 10 mins and they have you in and out so quick. Every dish is so amazing from breakfast to coney lunch and the sandwiches. It's so much food. I love it! Normally, I love all the food from here; however, when I ordered the chicken kabob today, it was awful. It has always been my favorite; but, today, the flavor was not there. It was dry and there was no seasoning on it. Looks like it was not grilled because I do not even see grill marks. The chicken pieces were half the size and It was a tad pink around the stick. When my boyfriend and I walked into Nu NY Deli we were greeted with dirty looks, not just from the customers but from the wait staff too because we were black. My boyfriend and I were so uncomfortable we didn't even stay to try the food, we just left. I called to complain to a manager and she just didn't care. she made me feel like I was lying and making it up, telling me no one would do that here and they don't have waitstaff like that. Your waitstaff didn't want me and my boyfriend eating in your restaurant and you should be ashamed. We weren't hurt, just upset. it's 2015, not 1965, and to be basically be told my feelings were invalid made me even more upset. I used to go to New York Deli every Saturday with my parents when I came home to visit, because they had an awesome senior discount that made going here affordable. Recently, the joint was taken over by a new owner and moved into the old Hardees/Arby's building down the street. The family visited on a Friday night and I think it's safe to say we will not be going back. First of all, the prices are just outrageous. For the price of our meal here we could have had a much better meal at Outback Steakhouse. $3 for some redskin potatoes heated up on the flat top? Ridiculous. The service was also pretty terrible. The waitress took forever to get over to our table, and our food took even longer to get out to us. Salads and sandwiches do not take that long to cook, what's the deal? What's more is that tables who were seated after us got food before we did. Finally, the food is basically uninspired. For over $7, I got an antipasto salad with LUNCH MEAT!!! thrown on top. I could have had a way better antipasto at Buddy's Pizza for less money. My dad and brother's fries were cold, and they tasted as if the fryer oil had not been changed in a while. Before the move, this was an okay place to grab a decent lunch, especially with the senior discount. Now? Good luck staying in business. read more

Not a Deli!!! This is the most important thing I want to get across. There is nothing about this place that says New York Deli. It is basically a sit down Coney Island style restaurant. They do have some deli sandwiches(very limited) on there menu, but most of the menu is filled with things like Coney dogs, Gyro's, fish and chips, etc. This is not a place where you go up to put you order in up front and order off a large menu full of various deli sandwiches, or really any other traditional deli favorites. Now with all this said I still have three stars. That was because this place had great service, with obviously hard working waitresses with very warm and engaging demeanors. The food was subpar at least from the deli style sandwich I ordered. Now the fish and chips, and Gyro at the other table looked quite good. This place just needs to figure out what they are. An all around great place to eat! Breakfast is hot and fresh. Their American fries are worth the trip by themselves. Hot soup that is clearly homemade. Try the beef barley or the navy bean. Both among the best I've ever tasted. Another favorite is Monday night "grill night". Two grilled pork chops, redskin mashed potatoes, pan roasted green beans and a cup of soup.
