This place was completely unexpected to come upon for a multitude of reasons. The obvious one is that there are farmlands so close to the nations capital. The second is that I literally live a few minutes from here and had no clue about it myself. I knew there was a nearby campground and walking trails, but not farmland. My reasoning for coming here was for a work event. When I drove up to the building I didn't think it was going to be a literal log cabin. Yes, it is the name of the road, but I just thought it was going to be a regular old building. Inside it is an event space. Set up to hold conferences and meetings, I was told that in the past it was used for weddings and parties as well. This place is completely set up to be self sustaining. Working kitchen, bathrooms, separate meeting spaces. There is even an outdoor area with picnic tables for warmer months. My favorite piece here, the working payphone, yes, they do still exist. When you are not working while in the building take a moment to take things in. It may be a small space, but they do have some artifacts to look at. Mostly noting when this place was built and remodeled. It was a great space that when I reported back to the office I told them it would be a great place to hold a training.

Baltimore's Light Rail, which as part of the Baltimore Link rebranding initiative is now formally called Light RailLink, runs from Hunt Valley in Baltimore County to Glen Burnie (Cromwell) in Anne Arundel County, 30 miles south. The Convention Center station is one of 33 stops on the Light Rail and is right next to the Baltimore Convention Center. It is also one block away from Camden Yards and the Royal Farms Arena. There are many other attractions close by as well as eateries, hotels and restaurants. The station is a simple outdoor platform with minimal signage and very few places to escape the elements. I think of the light rail as being a single north-south line with a branch for Penn Station and a branch for BWI airport but technically there are three routes as follows: 1. Hunt Valley-BWI (Blue) 2. Hunt Valley-Cromwell (Yellow), and 3. Penn Station-Camden Yards (Red) All three lines come through the Convention Center Station so be sure you get on the correct train if leaving from this station. Since this station is right in the city there is not any parking here.

Graham is very knowledgeable and able to weave together many different strands of history as he takes you on a journey into Baltimore's past, present, and future. From the great railroad strike of 1877 to more recent instances of workers banding together to improve their lot and attempts by the powers that be to limit free speech, the "people's history" focus of the tour made it an early afternoon well spent. Howard Zinn would be proud! Plus, Graham knows all sorts of interesting and useful tidbits, e.g. the local NFL team's connection to Edgar Allan Poe and where to eat some of the city's best steamed crabs. This tour is definitely recommended if you want an introduction to the real Baltimore.

We've gone on two tours with Graham in Baltimore and thoroughly enjoyed them both. These events…read moreare sort of like walking tours with a performance art aspect (or vice versa). In the two tours we took, our group was led on a walk through neighborhoods around the city, with Graham pointing out often-overlooked features of the urban environment. The major focus is on the confusing and contradictory way the city encourages or discourages pedestrians from using public space, as well as pointing out some of the spontaneous and creative ways people end up using public areas in manners that weren't necessarily intended. It's sort of like a guided walking history tour, except the focus is shifted away from the usual landmarks and historical events and instead toward more mundane things such as traffic bollards, median strips, weird easements, abandoned or dysfunctional infrastructure, etc. (This is much more fun than it probably sounds--his enthusiasm for these topics is quite contagious.) Graham injects a lot of humor into his descriptions and interpretations of these features, and at several points he encourages participants to interact with them in creative ways as "radical pedestrians". It's clear he does a lot of research about the areas involved in the tours, giving background and history where relevant. He is also full of insights about the design of features meant for people on the street and how things can go wrong--unintended consequences, conflict in sharing space with cars, issues when the intended use is ambiguous or confusing, etc. I would recommend these tours for anyone with an interest in urban planning, activism, or performance art--or just a desire to see some of the everyday things we take for granted in a new light. On a personal note, one of the tours we went on happened to be the day of the first major Freddie Gray protest in Baltimore and quite coincidentally came to its conclusion putting us in the middle of a large crowd of people marching downtown. As residents of Baltimore, over the next week we watched as the city dealt with protests and unrest, a curfew, and heavy presence of the police and national guard. It was fascinating (and at times horrifying) to watch these events unfold, and we found ourselves constantly analysing them in terms of topics we had discussed on the tour--people using and "misusing" public space, attempted restrictions on where and when people were allowed to be in public, problems caused by failures of the city's infrastructure, massive ambiguity and confusion about whether it was okay to gather or protest in usually-unrestricted spaces, etc. The usual rules for what it was deemed acceptable and legal to do in public were stood on their head. Our tour couldn't have been better timed for helping us see the issues we had discussed in action during the events that followed.

The interior could use a tad bit of "modernization" however. The seating is a tad bit outdated and some chairs are broken. The bathrooms could use more ventilation. During the summer time. They have power outlets. Charged my e-bike a few times here while waiting for the train. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. One thing you'll notice is when the Acela passes by at high speeds. The station almost feels like the "I Love Lucy" episode where the bunk beds are sliding across the room when the train passes by in that episode. Lol. ,No chairs move or anything but you can definitely feel the vibration somewhat when the Acela is passing. The staff here is amazing. Very very social and professional. Always smiling and happy. Very relaxed and calm staff. Greetings coming and going which is a major plus. The overall cleanliness is amazing. No trash cans overflowing nor empty toilet paper rolls in the bathroom. Soap dispensers are loaded with soap and the sinks have somewhat good water pressure. The overall environment is very relaxed and very calm. The general crowd is very highly disciplined. Mainly adults. Some kids. All very highly disciplined. There's an attached parking lot on both sides of the station as well as bike racks with surveillance. During the night time, The station is very well lit to deter crime which is another plus. Overall A++++++, The best part of the Odenton station is the staff. Tolls were even lifted, so it was also free. Parking on site for game day is around $50. So big savings. The ride in was smooth and after 4-5 stops the arrival is st the stadium. I am deducting 1.5 star due to issues on the return train to my car. The train had issues with the car overfilled and a door not closing. It delayed us around 25 minutes. Of note the parking lot boast car chargers. I also felt completely safe. 3.5 rounding up and recommend.

We also had to throw out items that could not be cleaned properly and now have to replace them (pillows, shoes, etc). My husband has 23 bites over the course of 2 nights. They burn and itch very badly. I truly hope this was a hiccup for them and they go through correct methods of having the cabin treated properly. UPDATE: A recount of the bites - my husband has 31 bites so far. The remediation of all of our items is exhausting. All the blankets, clothing, suit cases, all the other items we used in the cabin needs to be cleaned. We had to throw out our shoes because they shrunk in the dryer. Spent $$$ replacing shoes for a family for 4. Pillows are not cheap to replace either. I bought a new corset at the renfest this weekend that I'm hoping doesn't get ruined when it goes through the dryer. That too was expensive. So if you're looking to have to spend a bunch of extra money to replace items you didn't want to replace in the first place - I recommend staying here.

Cons: the main parking lot is usually full by 7:30am, but there is an overflow lot a very short walk away. Hint: buy your ticket from the kiosk. The conductors often charge a $3 surcharge if you buy onboard.
