Had to change dentists because my old dentist quit accepting my insurance. Came to Howard Family Dental who does accept my insurance. I had a cleaning scheduled but my crown fell out in the meantime. I called and they were able to see me right away. Everyone was very friendly, helpful and professional. I was out at ease right away. Dr Hagen is very knowledgeable. I had no discomfort whatsoever and my insurance covered it 100%. It was great experience! read more

Been a customer for 14 years, with two of my kids as well, but when I wantEd to add my other children (long story insurance based) they cancelled my appointment by generic text a month after I scheduled an appointment! This is the worst dentist office I have ever been to. They will give you one price and after the work is done bill you for twice as much. They will also just send you random bills to see if you are a sucker enough to pay. Do not go to this practice , and I assume any other Howard Dental Practice! I was a patient as of January 2024. I trusted my dental care to Jamie McWilliams and Adam Squicquero at Howard Dental. I was misled several times and rescheduled or had other issues with appointments staff as well as billing. I was so disappointed to have them call one week prior to my dental appt and say they had to cancel and could not rebook me for3-4 months ! It is dishonest and totally irresponsible to just drop a patient who has in good faith trusted you to hold up your responsibility as a dental practice I had to find another dentist at the last minute and pay for more X-rays and start the whole process over! I have called several times and have yet to receive a call back. I have asked that they reimburse me for the costs I have incurred due to their inability to keep an appointment. I have never experienced such a lack of trust or honesty with any other dentist or dental practice in my life. read more

Horrible.. hygienist was horrible, didn't clean my teeth properly and stabbed my mouth in every place possible. I needed an emergency root canal and they could never get me in. Canceled my appointment twice and didn't tell me and then told me they had several hygienist quit and I couldn't get rescheduled until the following year. This is a very poor running business. I do not recommend this practice. I showed up for my 9 am appointment today and they had canceled it without telling me. I assumed there would be an easy resolution to this since I am 9 months pregnant and cannot reschedule obviously and they wrongly canceled my appointment without telling me- but no. The woman at the desk was incredibly rude and unhelpful in finding a resolution. They told me because I didn't confirm my appointment it is standard practice to cancel it even though I never got a phone call or a voicemail or email saying I needed to confirm or any type of communication stating that it had been canceled- in fact, I received a text message an hour before my appointment saying that they were looking forward to seeing me. I received one phone call from them the day before my appointment and I said hello 10 times and no one answered so I hung up. They didn't call back and they didn't leave a voicemail. Meanwhile a man has an app after me at 10 am that he didn't confirm but they won't give it to me because they said they can't cancel it lol - what? Double standard against a 9 month pregnant woman with 2 small children who has been coming here for years- really nice. Changing practices immediately. read more

Went to get cleaning. Hygienist stabs my mouth for 25 minutes (I tried not to complain because she seems new) and my gums start bleeding. She tells me that because my gums are bleeding I need to get a deeper clean and pay out of pocket. Refused to do regular cleaning. Have had my teeth cleaned for at least seventy years and still have all my teeth. Today was only the second time that I had what I consider a poor experience. Seems I suddenly need a special cleaning before they can do a regular cleaning. That doesn't seem right to me as all my prior cleanings were done without this sort of problem. Having come from San Diego CA where my experiences with dentistry were phenomenal, these folks would be lucky to qualify for a booth at the County Fair. The hygienist, while pleasant in nature, was ill equipped and in my humble opinion, not qualified to clean teeth. The worst, and I mean the worst cleaning experience in the 62 years I've been living. Do yourself a favor and do not even consider going here for dental care, particularly cleanings. My husband and I have both been patients at Howard Family Dental for about a year. During that time, we have had everything from regular cleaning to bridge/crown. The staff is polite and engaged in the patient experience from before you come in the door to the moment you leave. The doctors and dental nurses are so focused on making sure that your teeth and gums are completely healthy. I started the crown process yesterday to replace a very old crown. What a great experience I had today with Dr. Adam. I was recommended by a friend at work as I have just relocated here from Chicago. Howard family dental has all the latest technology to take x-rays without pain. His staff is very professional and friendly. I look forward to going back and getting Botox for my TMJ. Dr Adam is an outstanding dentist. I have had some interesting dental issues and was taken care of with compassion and expertise. I've never experienced any pain or much discomfort when I'm in his chair. I can honestly say that this is some of the best dental care I've ever experienced. Additionally, the staff goes out of their way to make sure my appointments are scheduled when convenient for me. I have been a patient at Howard Dental in Bluffton for 3 years and have had exceptional care. I am 65 and it may be the best dental experiences of my life. The staff is fantastic and Dr. Adam is amazing. He takes the time to explain all your options and never pushes for unnecessary procedures like other dentists in the area. I live on the island where there are many dentists. I have had three previous dentists in the area and none compare. I found Howard Family Dental because they were recommended by my dental insurance. I will be dropping my dental insurance company and signing on to theirs. It is wonderful that they offer their own insurance and it covers more, is more affordable and doesn't have a maximum dollar amount for the year. Their philosophy is very patient oriented. The office had a lovely get together for patients at a local restaurant and Dr. Adam offered a few word of thanks and spoke of the importance of getting to know the patients and their families. He quoted a professor he had in dental school who reminded them that "He has never had a tooth walk into the office" it's the people who are important. Yes, they are as good as it gets! read more

My visit went great. The staff and Dr. Squicquero were very friendly, timely, and explained the cost breakdown of my next visit clearly. My only suggestion would be to discuss the out of pocket cost of a fluoride treatment prior to doing it since most insurance plans do not cover a fluoride treatment for anyone over 18 ($25).
