Palmetto Dental Arts is the best dental experience I have ever had. The staff and Dentists are over-the-top. I had my teeth cleaned today by Camisha, and she was terrific. Great attitude, very concerned about any possible discomfort while cleaning, and extremely professional in every sense. Dr. Smith came in to double-check his outstanding work, returning my mouth to its original condition. I highly recommend anyone new to the area or looking to change providers to try Palmetto Art; you will not be disappointed. the retain o got was damaged and i couldn't eat or drink anything until i went to a different dentist. when i tried to explain my dr Moorefield said " o just don't drink or eat anything " I felt completely dismissed and left the office in tears. read more

Had a cleaning scheduled for June 17th. Was sent a text msg days ago to confirm my appt. Cancelled the appt via their text system. I received another text this morning to confirm this same appt, which I cancelled days ago! Apparently the person who responded to my text days ago whereby I cancelled my appt NEVER bothered to CANCEL the appt. I replied with a text this morning "U SHOULD HAVE CANCELLED THIS APPT! ". No response. Called the office, and person answering the phone answered the phone directly by saying hi along with my first name. Not a normal response when calling a dentist office, but apparently they have phone system with some sort of caller id. I Informed this person this appt was supposed to have been cancelled days ago.....her response: "I think she just left it on there in case you wanted the appt"...."my internal response apparently this person she is referring to is incompetent I guess"......I told this person to remove me from their text message system and she replied that she would try. Hung up and I just typed words STOP to opt myself out of their text system. Then I immediately received a call from Amanda wanting to confirm this same appt of which I cancelled 4 days ago..... now I'm really irritated because apparently they have no clue on how to CANCEL an appt!!! I called back, asked to speak to Amanda, & I the person responded can I ask who is calling.....my response "NO" because you just proven 5 mins ago that you have some sort of caller id and know who is calling you! I have more important things to do today then speak to people who obviously can't do their job correctly when my appt was supposedly cancelled over 4 days ago! I wasn't that impressed with this dental office anyway, and today they made my decision to never go back again because they can't seem to do their job and cancel a simple appt! read more

I've been a patient here for two or three years and can say without reservation that *everyone* at this office is fantastic. The office is very warm and welcoming. I'm greeted by name whenever I walk in...none of the 'sign in and have a seat' that I had previously been used to. A few different hygienists have worked with me over this time, and all have been wonderful and very professional. Dr. Gower has been my dentist since my first visit, and she is amazing...super friendly, professional, and prompt. Plus, I get to talk about new restaurants with her. Additionally, everybody seems to enjoy working here and are always smiling, which goes a long way to putting somebody (me) at ease. I'm generally a huge wuss when it comes to visiting a dental office thanks to some not so hot experiences over the years, but I actually look forward to my regular visits to Palmetto Dental Arts. Great place for dentistry! My husband and I have seen 3 different dentists and all are great. We had an emergency appointment, and they got us in quickly. The hygienist staff is excellent, as well as the support office team. They are very clear about the cost of procedures, and even have an insurance program if you desire. Every Doctors office and every Service company in the Low Country must be trained on customer service by these people. I gave up on customer service in this area 5 years ago, until I came to Palmetto Dental Arts. I'm serious! They have all the latest dental technologies and the best dentists. They must expand because the only negative is their hard to schedule on a non emergency visit. Why? THEY ARE THE BEST IN MY 69 years of dentistry in NC, Boston, NYC AND THE LOW COUNTRY. This is Sara Perez posting via my husbands account. I cannot speak enough praises about Palmetto Dental Arts. I am absolutely terrified of dentists due to past traumas. Both of my parents passed away unexpectedly and i know a lot stems from oral health so I sent an email inquiring about some services which ended with a phone call where i was having a panic attack simply setting up a "let's chat" appointment. I don't remember her name but the lady i spoke with helped calm me down, assured me i would have the best and most caring staff for my apt, encouraged me for being so brave to even make the phone call and assured me absolutely nothing would happen at this appointment we would simply talk and MAYBE do X-rays if i was ok with it but if i wasn't then that was fine too. I never once felt like i was a burden, annoyance, high maintenance, bothering them, etc. my first apt was simply talking and X-rays where every single step my mental and physical health was the forefront and they constantly checked with me to ensure i was comfortable and ok with where we were going. I had another apt discussing my options and was immediately told to go home and think about it and come back next week. They didn't want me to make a decision, nor push me towards a decision, in fact, they wanted me to truly think about it and discuss it with those i love and trust. A week later i came back with my husband who we then sat and again talked for over an hour about what was found and what our options were. Once we agreed on a plan of action the upmost care for my psyche and mental health was always at the forefront. I mean Dr Blanton let me use his phone for music for my first surgery and offered to reschedule a third surgery with general anesthesia if i was too anxious for the oral sedation meds. Dr smith and his staff know me the moment i walk in and are familiar and up to date with my life and family. They genuinely listen and care. They know my phobia and even when all i was able to do was try to not have panic attacks -- and am still managing -- which resulted in me having very little opinions on how i felt things were going because i was just doing my best to even show up, Dr smith recognized that and jumped in and was certain to identify and be picky for me because i just froze. He was always being a "perfectionist" and finding things to adjust based on his experience and expertise. I am beyond grateful for this because while i would love to have been able to speak up i just have too much trauma and panic I'm working through to see past the simplicity of if i say something is a problem it means I'll be there longer possibly which is genuinely terrifying for me. Furthermore, anytime i had a concern on my healing i was immediately seen and taken amazing care of. I received my finals this week and i cried when i got home. Dr smith and his staff have been so amazing for my life and truly helped me heal so much physically and mentally. I still hate going to the dentist but I'm getting better and they're all still so patient with me while i work through unloading all that pain and trauma of 30+ years. I hands down recommend this facility and their staff and thank God for them. I know I'm not one to speak much in the office but i am more grateful for each and every one of your staff more than you'll ever know. I'm still not to the point i can say I'm excited to come to the dentist and see everyone but i am confident that i made the right choice with Palmetto Dental Arts. Thank you! read more

Seriously the best experience ever! Came from out of town for my bachelorette party and I had EXCRUCIATING pain in my lower tooth. After calling 6 other places on a Friday, Palmetto Dental Arts did everything they could to fit me in. The staff was extremely nice & my dental assistant was absolutely the sweetest! My doctor ( sorry I forgot her name!) was such a great help! She explained everything to me & and what was causing the pain. She told me that I had an infection and was going to need a root canal. She then suggested I get the root canal done at home since it is a process that would take a second visit. However since I am from out of town she suggested I do it with my at home provider. She then prescribed me medicine for the pain and for the infection so that I could get through the weekend! Seriously the best dental experience ever & the facility was AMAZING! So nice and clean and gorgeous! Seriously, if I could, I would make this my dental of choosing if I lived here! Thank you again Palmetto Dental Arts! read more

Dr. Gower takes the time (and schedules enough time) to do things right. Her and the staff are efficient and friendly. My tooth chipped and I needed a crown. My temporary crown was so good it wouldn't come out! Their Covid-19 screening when you arrive, their masks and Dr Gower's triple mask, made me feel safe. Their redo of the office is gorgeous! My only comment is their somewhat high prices. They also bill you up front and then hopefully you will get your insurance refund. I haven't had a problem yet, but it is scary to pay up front! All-in-all, I would recommend this business. If you need a dentist...this is a good bet. They do cosmetic work also... read more

We started coming to this dentist office a few months back for a long and overdue filling and we are extremely happy, FINALLY!! My littlest one despises any dentist or doctor figure, but acts fine when we come here! Robin has been our hygienist and makes Allie feel comfortable and even made her laugh a few times. My wife and son also like this office, but he has less of an opinion as a teenage boy! Haha.... we will continue to come here and have recommended it to three neighbors already! The Palmetto Dental Arts team is so amazing! The front desk staff were very welcoming and inviting, especially as a new client. They walked me through all the paperwork, and I was seen immediately for my filling. Dr. Jessica Gower did a fantastic job, and her hygienist Carla was wonderful. They were both very invested in my health and comfort. Let's be honest no one really likes to go to the dentist, but I might just be excited for my next cleaning because of how great they were. I work in animal medicine, and we luckily get to sedate our patients before we perform dental work. I did not have the luxury of heavy sedation, but I almost fell asleep during my filling. Guys, I kid you not, I was almost asleep. My filling went great, they gave me numbing gel before giving me the local anesthetic, and I barely felt it. The procedure was quick and I didn't feel anything (which hasn't been the case with previous dental procedures for me). Overall one of my best experiences at the dentists office ever! read more

Dr Christopher Blanton DDS could not install the crown made from his mold. Crown was too big and after 2 appointments totaling 2 hours of drilling and grinding I have a crown that traps food on both side, the upper teeth overlap the crown. The top of the crown slopes down and when I chew the food puts pressure on the tooth's substructure and its weakness is obvious - this crown will break in a short time. Dr Blanton was indifferent I consulted Dr Brian Smith DDS founder of Palmetto Dental Arts who defended Blanton and the crown claiming it passed all dental standards. This crown is in the front and all the aforesaid defects are obvious to anyone looking at it. Smith offered to replace crown but warned if the tooth was too weak for a crown an implant would be needed and cited a price in the thousands. Xrays were taken at all 5 appointments - pre and post crown installation. Smith has the documentation to know that the small shard of tooth remaining after i lost the filling and the tooth disintegrated was too weak and that a crown would be a temporary solution of very short duration. This has raised disturbing questions for me read more

Dr Smith has a very high pressure operation. I went on the recommendation of my realtor because I had broken a cavity. I was X-rayed and in the consult Dr. Smith said that I would need 8 crowns replaced. I was shocked, as my long time dentist assured me I would not need major work unless something broke. I went back for 2 cleanings and each time the dental hygienist questioned me about beginning the crown replacements. She cautioned that I shouldn't wait too long because I may need root canals as well. I went back to my long time dentist and then had appointments at MUSC and all agreed that there was no need to replace the crowns. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

This review is for Dr. Gower and her staff. I have not seen the other dentists in the practice and Dr. Gower is the newest. I am a physician. I have had a series of less than desired dental experiences throughout my life and to be fair, I probably have more fear of a dentist than I do a handgun. My wife asked me about my experience with Dr. Gower and when I told her she was great, she was dumbfounded and said she would have to make an appointment as well as I have never had a positive dental comment. Ok, the seat on the waiting room chair is a bit hard. That's my negative comment. I don't believe I could have asked for a more professional dentist or staff however. Dr. Gower was timely, friendly, and efficient. She told me I needed a filling replaced. She then took a picture of the tooth and showed me where the prior filling was beginning to crack and fall out. She did not try to sell me on procedures I did not need. When I returned for the filling, it was I think as comfortable an experience as could have taken place. The injection was expertly done and caused only the most minimal discomfort. The filling was also done with expertise. With a blindfold, I would have thought she had been doing this all her life. Yes she is fairly young but as competent as any dentist I have known. I only hope she continues to practice until I am dead. read more
