    Sky from the bridge

View is beautiful. Pictures were taken from the passenger seat as we crossed the bridge. The traffic and drivers on this bridge are a bit trying but it gets you to where you have to go

Four lanes in each direction isn't enough. Maybe a toll will reduce traffic, but I doubt it. This is the most convenient bridge for many of us commuting between Hillsborough & Pinellas counties, at any price... As long as traffic is moving. Over the years, I've seen many dolphins & possibly sharks, while coasting on this bridge during rush hour. I prefer to drive in the far right lane for the views. Usually, all lanes seem to move at more or less a similar pace, so at least I get a better view from the far right side of the bridge. The downtown Tampa skyline never gets old! Traffic flow is terrible. It's never been good. Never in my 30+ cognizant years crossing the Bay on this bridge. I still hope FLDOT will figure it out, someday.

    You are here.

Hello, bridge. And we're still here. And still here. And we are STILL here. This is a super-long bridge and that's not a bad thing. I can't guess what it must have been like before it was here, driving all the way around the bay or taking a ferry. But today, it's this bridge and its sister bridges (this one is named after Howard Frankland, so wouldn't it be a 'brother' bridge?) join the sister cities of Tampa and St. Petersburg. Smooth ride, sometimes backed up with traffic, good clear lane paintings and a slight breakdown lane on each side. AND IT'S FREE. Five stars.

There are no bad bridges in my opinion they all provide convenient access across something. Every negative review posted here are people related and has absolutely nothing to do with the bridge itself. I'm going out on a limb here but I'd bet all the traffic issues blamed on this magnificent structure are related to people's inattentive driving, people texting, people gawking, people speeding, people stopping on the bridge, people who don't maintain their vehicles, etc. How fortunate we are to have these well engineered mammoth structures to make our commutes possible not always pleasant but possible. The oldest span is in the planning stages to be replaced, a light rail system is being discussed if that happens people will be able to change their focus and start complaining about how awful the train is and will soon forget the missed opportunities they had to roll their windows down and smell the salty air while relaxing to some soothing tunes during their crossing not to mention the beautiful views that we all take for grant it. So complain if you must and be frustrated on your daily commute or focus on the positives and realize this could be some of the best downtime of your day. The Howard Franklin bridge is one of my favorite bridges, really. More than the benefit of connecting Tampa and St. Petersburg, FL the bridge offers beautiful views of the bay and downtown Tampa skyline and can get you easily across the gulf. The expanse is very smooth sailing if you don't travel during peak times and or heinous storms. It also boasts broad lanes and I think is a cool and functional design. Perhaps I like the bridge because I don't have the misfortune of traveling on it for work during typical commuting hours nor have been on it during a storm. Let's hope you aren't one of those commuters that has to deal with traffic gridlock. The northbound rightmost lanes have severe traffic in the early morning hours (the Kennedy/Airport exit lanes). I feel for the people who get stuck in this such atrocious traffic. This low lying bridge is definitely an asset to transportation in Tampa Bay. I would like to see some relief for the horrendous traffic that is present at times, however.

Tampa Bay Area bridges provide vital connection between the counties. Howard Franklin Bridge is the major connection with interstate system compare to Courtney Campbell and Gandy. The Howard Franklin Bridge has seen with traffic backup for 25% of the service time. This due to the back up of Kennedy Blvd and the merge lane of the SR 60 to 275 connection. The FDOT is working on the major issue to smooth out the need of the people. A future toll system is planned for people who in hurry. The interchange on the malfunction junction will be corrected. In the meantime, the bridge is nice to to drive on and enjoy the water view. If you hit the right time, the sunset can be seen in this bridge for full sun drop into the water horizon since it take 7 minutes to drive across. It has to be right time on the bridge which I post 1 picture I have experience the beauty.

A Cinematic Masterpiece Before the Movie Even Begins…read more If you are looking for an unforgettable night out, the historic Tampa Theatre is an absolute must-visit. Calling it just a "movie theater" feels like a massive understatement - it is a breathtaking time capsule and a true architectural marvel that elevates the simple act of watching a film into a grand event. From the moment you step through the doors, you are transported into a spectacular, 1920s Mediterranean courtyard. The attention to detail inside the auditorium is stunning, offering an experience that modern multiplexes simply cannot replicate. Here is what makes it so incredibly special: * The Atmospheric Ceiling: You sit under a remarkably realistic night sky, complete with 99 twinkling stars and gently drifting clouds, making you feel like you are outdoors on a perfect evening. * The Architecture: The eclectic, opulent blend of Moorish, Spanish, and Byzantine details - surrounded by gargoyles, statues, and ornate balconies - gives the space a magical, almost surreal charm. * The Mighty Wurlitzer: Arriving early is a requirement! Hearing the historic theatre organ played live before the screenings perfectly captures the golden age of cinema. The programming is just as thoughtfully curated as the decor. Whether you are catching a brilliant independent film, a beloved cult classic, a documentary, or a live event, the venue makes every single screening feel momentous. Grab some popcorn, take in the gorgeous scenery, and enjoy the show. The Tampa Theatre is a meticulously preserved local treasure and truly one of the greatest places to spend an evening!

I would give the ticketing and people in charge of seating 1 star. This has no bearing on the venue itself, but selling tickets to a performance by section, and first come first serve on seating was mass chaos. There was a lot of frustration between a lot of people who did not show up early to stand in line outside for 30 minutes as we had to, and we sat in our four seats on the third row and multiple older people would come in and ask us to move from our seats because they wanted to sit in them, or ask us if we would move to where they could get a better view when they showed up five minutes before the concert began. It was absolutely ridiculous and very frustrating as we had to go and funnel inside like cattle rushing to seats so we could sit together, and then try to save seats anytime our husbands went to the bar to grab a drink or go to the bathroom. People would come up and ask us if they could sit there. It just is not organized at all, and that would be my very main concern and frustration with this venue. I am not sure if it was the ticketing people or the venue itself, but we will probably not be doing another concert there unless they sell tickets to specific seats. Again, beautiful venue and wonderful talented musicians, but the seating was not organized and incredibly frustrating.

The Sulphur Springs Water Tower is 214 feet (65 meters) tall with a foundation 45 feet deep and has a capacity of 200,000 gallons. It was built in 1927 over the opening to an artesian well. It's an impressive structure that, unless the park somehow is developed into a mixed use condo/retail, should be here for decades thanks to some very heavy duty construction. We arrived early so the kids could enjoy the pre-concert fun, and also so we could get a good spot. There was a ton of (free) parking, which was nicer than the downtown park. However, I noticed a lot of broken glass on the ground, which is not an issue at Julian B Lane. There are not a lot of resources at this park as it's not really used outside of functions. The FLO brought in Port-a-Potties and food trucks. Once the sun set, the place was very dark -- no real built-in lighting, a bit of an issue with uneven ground and no paved walking paths. The setting was buggy, but no worse than anywhere in Tampa. The lit up river tower was very attractive at dusk and after dark. Think of this place as a blank slate, but one where you need to watch where you step.
