Adler Cottage is definitely not ADA friendly. There are 15 wooden stairs outside to climb in order…read moreto get inside or a steep incline on uneven ground to enter by the back door. Since there was no mention of this on their website and I had emphasized " first floor bedroom " as being necessary, we ( husband and me with walking canes and daughter and husband) arrived to what looked like an impossible situation. After much discussion with the check-in person and no alternatives suggested, plus a large deposit made for 3 nights, we decided to try it. It was so difficult to get up and down the stairs, it affected our entire trip...carry out meals, one daily trip up and down for husband and me, son-in-law hauling luggage, groceries, etc up stairs, etc. Once inside, the cottage is nice, roomy, private, clean and functional. There are 2 master suites with balconies...one downstairs and one upstairs. Downstairs there is a living /dining area ( with tv), and full size kitchen ( bring your own coffee or tea). Upstairs there is a third small room with a queen bed and free washer and dryer and a " hangout out" area with couch, games, etc. The food was delicious. We had breakfast served so had to reheat some items in the microwave. Really enjoyed the morning smoothies. Afternoon cookies are a must; different homemade cookies each day. This place is ideal for able-bodied people but definitely not for those who have mobility or balance issues.

Health hazard and horrible experience. The rooms are outdated and filthy, to boot, just in case mold isn't enough to deter your stay.

We stayed here in June for my birthday and a mini honeymoon and everything about this bed and…read morebreakfast was absolutely splendid. The value for the price is extraordinary. We had a lovely room that included a kitchen, utensils, sink, kitchen table, couch, AC unit, bathroom, closets, etc. everything was perfectly clean and well take care of and we had an abundance of fresh towels at all times. The room was even stocked with fresh cream, milk, coffee and tea....the best part is the view - OMG!!! The bed and breakfast is situated directly overlooking the most gorgeous view of the water. We spent HOURS sitting in the enclosed porch just reading and relaxing and breathing in the ocean air. It was our favorite part. Upon arrival, there were fresh flowers in our room. The next morning, we were surprised at how fresh and delicious the breakfast quiche, fruit, smoothies and muffins were - the ultimate hospitality comfort! The owners are very sweet, warm, accommodating and friendly. We loved conversing with them and meeting their adorable dog. We laid out in the hammock and walked down the street to ports pizzeria, which was incredible. It's so close to town and has everything you need and that classic, antique, quaint home ocean feel we all dream of when we think of the perfect bed and breakfast. Don't hesitate, just book. This place is going to be somewhere I go for the rest of my life to relax, if they're open for the next few years. A very, very special place to getaway and relax, indeed.

My friend and I just got back from a one-night stay at The Mooring on Georgetown Island on our way…read morehome from Camden. It's a gorgeous location and a perfect place for an ocean-front wedding, which appears to be one of its draws. The driveway leading to the house is lined with white hydrangea trees and the gardens are filled with flowers and lily ponds. Our 2nd-floor room was large, comfortable and beautifully decorated (every guest room has a theme AND an ocean view) and we fell asleep to the sound of the waves crashing on the rocky shore below. Penny is the perfect hostess -- she had a bottle of wine and two glasses waiting for us when we arrived and a list of local restaurant menus for us to peruse. She's friendly, professional and doesn't hover. Breakfast was MUCH better than I've come to expect at most B&Bs -- piping hot, delicious French toast with bacon, blueberry muffins and fresh fruit salad. Penny's 9-year old grandson gave us a tour of the grounds and provided a bit of history as well (he's the great, great, great grandson of Walter Reid, the donor of spectacularly pretty Reid State Park, just down the road from the inn.) Unfortunately, The Mooring's website doesn't begin to do justice to the lovely house, gardens and ocean views. It's a shame, because The Mooring is a great getaway, not too expensive and close to both Bath and Portland if you're in the area.
