My appointment with Ines Sherifi was among the most demoralizing encounters I've ever had with a physician. She entered the room with visible irritation, offered no greeting of substance, and spoke to me with the weary impatience of someone forced to endure an unwanted obligation. Each attempt I made to explain my concerns or medical history was met with sighs, interruptions, and an unmistakable air of disdain. The examination itself was perfunctory--one cursory pass with a stethoscope, a few perfunctory remarks, and she was gone. The entire interaction lasted only minutes, yet my insurance was billed close to $1,000. There was no inquiry, no empathy, no sense of responsibility toward the patient before her. What should have been a moment of care felt more like a business transaction stripped of all humanity. I left feeling belittled, dismissed, and ashamed for having expected decency. If your hope is to find a physician who listens, explains, or treats you as more than a billing opportunity, I would strongly advise seeking care elsewhere.

BUT Strunk isn't an easy man to discuss things with (so that's why he gets only 3 stars-- would've liked to give him 3.5 but that option not possible) If you question things, as we did, suddenly he rises up on a throne. We would've stayed with him-- forgiving his pushiness for his "my way or the highway" & his general inability to engage in conversation as if patient(s) actually are able to accurately report on how they're feeling. Strunk is highly skilled. But we met a much nicer, equally skilled (actually brilliant) cardiologist (who's also a woman)--yes!

He reviewed my records and made several recommendations for ongoing care. After Kaiser received a copy of the consult, my care really suffered! In fact, when I presented to Kaiser ER with chest pain, they tried to pass it off as indigestion. Long story short,I had a heart attack and was brought to Marin General as it was the closest facility and Dr Wexman was on call for cardiology. What a relief! My initial impression was spot on. He was excellent, explained everything to me and my family, compassionate, caring, and just made me feel better. I am switching my insurance from Kaiser just so I can continue follow up care with him, even though Marin is quite the distance from Vallejo.

I really appreciated that she did not dismiss my concerns because I am an atypical patient; she was very thorough. I am so, so glad I went to see her because I was referred (very quickly due to Dr. Tagliaferri's perseverance - she got my appointment moved up by a week and a half!) to a top-notch cardiologist who is very concerned about ruling out a serious issue. She even told me questions that I should ask the cardiologist! Dr. Tagliaferri really took the time to listen, investigate and understand what I was experiencing and I am truly grateful for her knowledge, compassion, and attentiveness. Then she dropped him. I had to call her and tell her to try a vascular surgeon, and keep trying to diagnose him... This was January. He didn't get his diagnosis until July. It was a rapidly growing form of lymphoma, now requiring months of chemo and radiation. She also had the audacity to scream at me when I asked if my son and I could be treated for an infection as my husband was immune compromised. She screamed at us. I've worked for doctors for over twenty years and NEVER have I seen such behavior. I have formally reported her to the California Medical Association. She should have her license revoked.

My appointment the following morning with Dr. Kassis was just what I needed. She was able to provide great advice, references and general support, and although wasn't accepting new patients, was willing to take on our family. We will be bringing our baby here when she's born in March, and it's comforting to know she's already in good hands!
