When I arrived for my…read moreappointment, Dr. Shirazi told me I did not need the filler and instead attempted to sell me an $8,000 laser treatment package. The consultation lasted less than 10 minutes and no treatment was performed. When I went to the front desk to explain that Dr. Shirazi had not provided the eye filler and had instead recommended a treatment I did not want to pay, I requested a refund of my deposit. I was told there were no refunds and that I had six months to apply the $500 toward the $8,000 laser package. I explained multiple times that I came specifically for eye filler and was never informed that my deposit would be forfeited if the treatment was not performed. After leaving the office, I contacted an attorney who advised me to request the refund again. The office said the manager would follow up, but no one called me back. My attorney contacted the office twice in the following days to request the refund, but the office has continued to refuse. This experience felt extremely misleading. Patients should be clearly informed of deposit policies before being charged, especially when the recommended treatment changes during a brief consultation. Reply back to Ms. Lacy: Thank you for your response. However, the issue is not whether Dr. Shirazi can recommend a different treatment plan. The issue is how the $500 charge was represented when the appointment was scheduled. When I scheduled the appointment, I agreed to a $500 deposit for under-eye filler, which was the treatment I specifically called about. At no point during the scheduling call was I informed that the $500 would automatically become a non-refundable consultation fee if Dr. Shirazi decided not to perform the treatment. I also was not asked to sign any document acknowledging this policy before the consultation. The appointment itself lasted less than 10 minutes, during which Dr. Shirazi advised that I did not need filler and instead recommended an $8,000 laser treatment package. I declined because it was not the service I came in for and was not something I wanted to pay. When I requested my refund at the front desk since the treatment I scheduled was not performed, I was told that refunds were not allowed and that the $500 could only be applied toward other services. To be clear, if the front office had informed me at the time of scheduling, or asked me to sign a policy stating that the $500 would be forfeited if the expected treatment was not performed, I would have never scheduled the appointment. Patients deserve to be fully informed of financial policies before committing to a deposit. This situation appears to be a lack of clear disclosure and informed financial consent prior to the appointment. I hope the practice will reconsider the refund in light of these concerns and review how deposit and consultation policies are communicated to patients moving forward so others are not placed in the same situation.

Nothing was changed after these 2 visits so I've gone to another Dermatologist who has taken care of the matter, as I've been used to. Prompt results! On the first visit Dr. Lupton said I should buy a cream to use on my forehead. It cost $139.00! Naturally it didn't do a thing to help. I asked for my money back and the girl said something like "sorry, that's from the manufacturer and we don't refund". That was BS to me. Needless to say I will never go back.

It was humiliating and I had to deal with the healing process. Last year I went for a skin check at a different practice and they found two pre cancerous melanomistic moles and they were cut out of my back.

Her nurse, Maryam…read moreMajdi-Yazdi, ignored signs of infection (seroma, swelling, etc) while removing my sutures two weeks later; she did not document those symptoms in the clinical support notes or have a doctor look at the excision. When I sought medical treatment because the excision site had split open and the infection worsened, Maryam told me that the excision site had been fine when she removed the sutures (I have pictures from that show signs of infection the day sutures were removed) and told me that the excision had split open because I had worn sneakers. While taking antibiotics, I developed sweating/clammy skin, chills, extreme fatigue (i.e. sleeping 10-12 hours a day; I typically sleep 5-6 hours a day), appetite loss (i.e eating nothing for more than a week), etc. I contacted Dr. Ostrow as I was concerned that I may have developed a blood infection as I had had symptoms of a surgical site infection for almost 4 weeks prior to beginning antibiotics. Dr. Ostrow did NOT examine me; instead, she had one of her nurses tell me over the telephone that I had an upper respiratory infection completely unrelated to the surgical site staph infection. Keep in mind that I had avoided germ exposure, crowds, stores, etc for 2-3 weeks before and after the excision. My excision site remained an open wound with brown drainage for 2-3 months AFTER completing the single round of antibiotics prescribed. Dr, Ostrow told me that "these things just take a while to heal." She did NOT do any additional tests, prescribe an additional course of antibiotics or consider/recommend additional treatment. I would discourage patients from using Dr. Ostrow and/or her nurses for procedures. Or at the very least have an advocate/witness present.

I had commented that I was so excited to have this done now that I had finally got insurance. That was their opportunity to let me know that there was a chance it wouldn't cover. That it all depended on who knows what. I don't deal with insurance on a daily basis. I don't know all the details. All I know is that I am paying for health insurance and why wouldn't it cover? These charges are in the range of $12k-20. The only thing I am able to do is hope no one else has this experience. I went in for a removal of a cyst in my neck. Everything seemed OK until a couple hours later. My neck began to swell due to internal bleeding from being improperly stitched. They were responsive and requested I return to Therapeutics. Once Dr. Bhatia reopened the wound, he realized he would be unable to fix it at the clinic and I was taken to Sharp ER by Ambulance. So rad, I am unable to have the procedure fixed for hours due to my BP being elevated while a nurse stands next to me with her fingers inside my neck. This is a great way to celebrate your Birthday. Since it was my birthday the night before and my elevated BP, Sharp requested I submit a drug test. Which I did and it came back clean. I was sewn up after multiple hours in the ER. They gave me BP medication to lower it before they were able to proceed. With the large amount of lost blood and the combination of medication, I passed out in the lobby while waiting for my ride. By this time I had enough. They wanted to admit me to the hospital and open the area back up. I couldn't do it, I had had enough. They said they couldn't make me but highly recommended I stay. I ended up leaving. The next day was 4th of July. Dr Bhatia did checkup on me to make sure I was OK. I did appreciate him taking the time. I went back to the see them and requested pain medication. I was told they were unable to prescribe this and was forced to make an emergency with my PCP. More money for no reason. When I went back to work, I was placed on mandatory "stress and medical leave" from this incident. This was supposed to be 30 days but for some reason extended to 90 days. When I was supposed to comeback I was fired immediately. Now, I am thankfully on disability from this incident as I went into a deep depression and have extreme anxiety. Due to the massive amount of blood loss, it was hard to bounce back. I am massively in debt which debt from this incident and as I stated, basically ruined my life. I was talking to the HR Director and now of course unable to get a call back or response to email. Dr. Bhatia is not a bad man. He just made a mistake and has refused to correct any of it. They are lucky I did not know about the statute of limitations. I will never go back again and when I did to get my record had a panic attack. I do not recommend this institution if you value your life. Therapeutics, Inc. does not value you life and even brought in an Executive to insure I knew this was a mistake. They pressed me not to sue, I have learned my lesson and most likely be forced to claim bankruptcy. Some pictures are below. I said I was not going to post a review. I wasn't, but I cannot in good conscience let this happen to anyone else. Read the disclaimer you sign, the possible death is definitely on the table.
