The doctor, back office staff, and front desk are all very nice. The check in process is easy and pleasant. The clinical studies they offer are interesting. I did have one issue where I participated in the botox study. I was supposed to get botox put back in at the end of the study according to the intake person. I never received it. One of my eyelids has never been the same afterwards. I guess that's what can happen when signing up for a study. read more

Although Dr. Bhatia I know did not mean to ruin my life and put me in mounds of debt, he did. Unfortunately, I tried to do the "right thing" and not take a malpractice suite against Therapeutics, Inc. to cover my bills from the ER and Ambulance. These charges are in the range of $12k-20. The only thing I am able to do is hope no one else has this experience. I went in for a removal of a cyst in my neck. Everything seemed OK until a couple hours later. My neck began to swell due to internal bleeding from being improperly stitched. They were responsive and requested I return to Therapeutics. Once Dr. Bhatia reopened the wound, he realized he would be unable to fix it at the clinic and I was taken to Sharp ER by Ambulance. So rad, I am unable to have the procedure fixed for hours due to my BP being elevated while a nurse stands next to me with her fingers inside my neck. This is a great way to celebrate your Birthday. Since it was my birthday the night before and my elevated BP, Sharp requested I submit a drug test. Which I did and it came back clean. I was sewn up after multiple hours in the ER. They gave me BP medication to lower it before they were able to proceed. With the large amount of lost blood and the combination of medication, I passed out in the lobby while waiting for my ride. By this time I had enough. They wanted to admit me to the hospital and open the area back up. I couldn't do it, I had had enough. They said they couldn't make me but highly recommended I stay. I ended up leaving. The next day was 4th of July. Dr Bhatia did checkup on me to make sure I was OK. I did appreciate him taking the time. I went back to the see them and requested pain medication. I was told they were unable to prescribe this and was forced to make an emergency with my PCP. More money for no reason. When I went back to work, I was placed on mandatory "stress and medical leave" from this incident. This was supposed to be 30 days but for some reason extended to 90 days. When I was supposed to comeback I was fired immediately. Now, I am thankfully on disability from this incident as I went into a deep depression and have extreme anxiety. Due to the massive amount of blood loss, it was hard to bounce back. I am massively in debt which debt from this incident and as I stated, basically ruined my life. I was talking to the HR Director and now of course unable to get a call back or response to email. Dr. Bhatia is not a bad man. He just made a mistake and has refused to correct any of it. They are lucky I did not know about the statute of limitations. I will never go back again and when I did to get my record had a panic attack. I do not recommend this institution if you value your life. Therapeutics, Inc. does not value you life and even brought in an Executive to insure I knew this was a mistake. They pressed me not to sue, I have learned my lesson and most likely be forced to claim bankruptcy. Some pictures are below. I said I was not going to post a review. Dr. Bhatia was wonderful and the staff made my appointment effortlessly seamless and pleasant! I was very anxious about my condition, but Dr. Bhatia made me feel at ease. Also, he provided "homework" / reading material which I loved. I have seen other doctors for my condition, and I felt like they never understood it completely or was as comprehensive, thorough and knowledgeable as Dr. Bhatia. My experience at Dr. Bhatia's clinic was wonderful. I was able to schedule my evaluation for a date less than a week out from my initial phone call (other "in-network" clinics I called were booked for months). The person I spoke with on the phone (Geri, I think) was kind, helpful, and organized. When I arrived for my appointment, there was minimal wait time before I was taken back to an exam room by the MA, Marc. Marc did a good ROS, reviewed the medical history forms I filled out, and taught me how to use their HIPAA- compliant app/messaging system, Klara. (* Klara is AWESOME, btw, and bypasses the annoyance of trying to connect with a doctor's office by phone, being put on hold, leaving a message, and getting a call back at an in-opportune time. I love that they use this program.) Then I was examined by Dr. Bhatia. He did a thorough exam and took the time to answer all my questions about my diagnosis and treatment. I didn't feel rushed or talked down to. Lastly, I wanted to say a few good things about the compounding pharmacy Dr. Bhatia urged me to use, called Choice Compounding Pharmacy. Initially, I was skeptical about using anything other than the Walgreens I have used for years, but Dr. Bhatia said (and was right!) that I would get faster service and more competitive pricing for my derm prescriptions. Choice compounding pharmacy saved me nearly $700 by applying drug manufacturer coupons to my Rx orders (something they could do for a high-deductible healthcare + pharmacy plan like mine), and shipped the orders to my door within a few days. I have been telling friends and family members that suffer from similar skin issues to go see Dr. Bhatia and use Choice pharmacy. read more

I waited 45 minutes in Dr. Bhatia's exam room, and he never showed. I had to run, so I asked his receptionist to call me. He called minutes later to apologize, explaining that he usually sees patients in just a few minutes. If a doctor has same-day appointments, turns out that could be a red flag. Horrible place to go to try and get on a Clinical Study. They have been added to my list of research places to avoid. I tried mightily to get on a Toenail Fungus Study that I saw advertised in The Reader. I kept the nailpolish off my toes and showed up on time for the appointment. The lady out front tells me my diuretic will not kick me off the study but the Doctor says it will & wants me to get a letter from my personal doctor. No way. Then they decide to contact the study people and I find out that my Lasix is fine for a toenail fungus study. My first experience of the games they play here. So with that decided, I am told to wait 2 weeks and then come back for the first visit of the study. I am told that it will take 1 and 1/2 hours and that they will do a blood draw. I show up today--on time--and ready to start. Here comes that surly doctor again, who takes one look at my legs and says that I am "too dark" to take pictures of my toes. That they will "be rejected." I swear this dude is looking for any reason to ditch people & he is not very slick about it either. I asked WHY I WAS NOT TOLD ABOUT BEING TOO DARK for toe pictures when they set my appointment to come back two weeks ago? That would be expecting too much here. If you want to be in a good medical study where you are treated like a valued human being, steer clear of the bad ones like this. While the receptionist and some of the medical assistants were pleasant, this Doctor here is bad news! read more

They did not disclose conditions that would exempt you from the study. I wasted time and money coming all the way to the office only to be turned away in the examination room. It's not fair to be deceitful and not compensate people for their time, effort, and mileage. Extremely disappointed and I will certainly share my experience with others. I also gave you opportunities to make the situation right. Personally, I would rather give an unsatisfied customer a tiny bit of compensation for their time and mileage if I was running the business than have someone leave empty handed and upset. At the very least, include disqualifying conditions in your ad or have your screener list them upon initial contact with a prospective study participant. This is not very professional. read more

I absolutely love Dr. Bhatia and his nurse. I originally came for an extreme case of eczema. It got to the point that my skin lost its' pigment. I have previously had biopsies done, told I might have cancer, etc. I went through the ringer trying to figure out what this was. He gave me a prescription and I am now rash free. Not only did he solve this but him and his nurse are always incredibly sweet. I always leave with a smile on my face. They actually want to help. It's really refreshing. Highly recommended. Also, I saw that someone commented about the wait - I haven't more than 5 minutes in the waiting room. read more

I went in to see Dr Bhatia for a routine skin screening and to have him look at a questionable mole on my abdomen. I liked the doc from the start. He was easy to engage and answered all of my questions. I had to have the aforementioned sketchy mole removed during that appointment because the doc thought it was concerning. No problem with that procedure at all. I was told by the office it would be 2-5 business days before I got results back. Sure, no problem I said. The removal was done on the 27th, when I heard nothing by the 3rd (five days later), I called the office to check on my results. One would assume this is okay to do. (People get busy, test results on paper get pushed around on a desk and forgotten about, other patients' crises happen, I get it.) There was no response when I was directed to the Medical Assistant's desk, so I left a message. Toward the end of the day, I received a return phone call. My sample was atypical and warranted further examination by a different doctor. This immediately would frighten any normal human being, I assume. As a critical care healthcare worker who deals frequently with Hem/Onc patients, alarm bells instantly went off in my head. Was the office just going to make me wait days longer with no update that my atypical tissue sample required further analysis? I felt glad I had called. I was told again, it would be a few more days before I heard anything further again. Well, based on the first ball that got dropped and information not getting passed along in a timely manner, I was a little on edge as to what my actual results would be from the second opinion. Today, I called back to try and get the results from the nerve-wracking second opinion. I left a message again on the MA's machine and waited for a return call. I totally get that it hasn't been a full 5 days. I get that. When I call a doctor's office worried about my personal health and the fact that I may actually have some sort of cancer, I expect professional behavior on the phone. I was greeted on the return phone call from the MA with a curt, unprofessional tone that clearly communicated that I was bothering him (whose job it is to answer messages for the doctor, btw) by daring to call to get these results that are obviously important to me. He spoke as if he were angry with me and that I was being ridiculous. I listened to him talk and got madder and madder. Finally, when he seemed to be done berating me and speaking to me in a tone that inferred I was an idiot, I hung up after he said that they would call back when they got the results. He kept saying that they couldn't do anything until the sample results came back. One thing, I think he didn't understand was that I do know that, I am not an idiot, and by speaking to me in that manner it only made me want to call him every day after today just to inconvenience him until the results came back one way or another. You know what? Patients are a healthcare worker's reason for having a job. We are not an interruption from their work, we are the reason for their work. If I want to call every single day until those results come in, I can! As long as I am a patient in that office, I have the right to keep checking for my health's sake! There are many times when results are missed because patients do not advocate for themselves or family members do not advocate for them. The MA from this office needs to learn that. He needs to learn that I can and will call as much as I want to until I get my results back. This is my health, not his. If he were the one to have a biopsy done that the doctor was pretty worried about, he would probably be stressed too, but since it isn't him, he doesn't seem to care because he is not the one affected. He needs to learn professionalism, compassion, and how to talk to a patient on the telephone without having a truly pissed off tone to his voice because I was "bothering him". This is such a shame because I really like Dr Bhatia, too. I will never go back to this office for any other visits because I know I will have to deal with his Medical Assitant and that, right now or ever, is not the extra stress that I need in my life when I could be facing a cancer diagnosis. I know that the doc has privileges at UCLA from looking up his license, as I do with every provider I choose before I go to see them, and I truly hope him possibly being there did not slow down my results being communicated to me. read more

Was misdiagnosed and repeatedly pressured to purchase expensive creams I had never heard of before. Turns out, I had a skin condition that goes away on its own with time -- as later diagnosed by my primary-care doctor and confirmed by a dermatologist she recommended me, who did not try to treat it with expensive, potentially harmful steroid creams. Therapeutics Dermatology is an absolutely incredible practice. Dr. Bhatia is passionate about his work and is dedicated to remaining educated and staying at the forefront of his field. Not only is Dr. Bhatia incredible, but Therapeutics Dermatology's Medical Assistant, Marc, has really made a positive impact on my health. Marc answered all of my (many) questions with ease, made scheduling easy, and did not let me leave the office until we both felt I was informed, comfortable, and satisfied. I have been so upset about this condition that getting some relief feels like a miracle! I've struggled with psoriasis for more than half my lifetime, and as of recent years, it had gotten so bad that my quality of life had gone down. Dr. Bhatia recommended Fabior (used to treat acne) to start treating a plantar wart. Either he has no idea how to treat warts properly or he is just interested in experimenting at your expense. I did not give my consent to experiment. I wanted help but he was not interested in solving my problem, just in trying out something new while I continued suffering. He said he didn't know how long it was going to take and then he gave me a paper with a list of possible treatments (which did not include the two most common therapies for plantar warts) as if it was up to me to decide the proper way to proceed. Not good - especially because he advertises himself as a wart specialist, but he is definitely not one. read more

I was contacted by this place for a psoriasis study. No pills no injections. It was a tens unit thing. I went in on said appointment date. About an hour in and after the doctor said I qualified I realized this app would run about 2 hour or more. I was not told that so I asked to make another app on a day I had at least 2 hours to spare. Came back approx 5 days later at the new app time. Was there about an hour and all the sudden I didn't qualify because they needed guttate psoriasis. Which is what I have and it's obvious. After a not so convincing explanation I was offered a different study. Where they would biopsy a spot of psoriasis and then I would come back so they can take the stitches out. I'm not scrounging around for money they called me and I only did it because it was non-invasive didn't have any drug-related lotions or injections. Needless to say I didn't appreciate them wasting my time and also the bs about guttate. Either they can't diagnose guttate or they were full of baloney. It seems like they found all their candidates and they didn't really take the time to just call me and cancel the appointment. Either way very frustrating and unprofessional. I recently saw Dr. Neal Bhatia at TCR for a lesion on my thumb that would not go away. My experience was excellent! I was greeted by a smile at the frong desk by Geri and I was seen on time (unsual at a doctor's office nowadays)! My procedure required a few needles to numb the area before cutting off the lesion. I have had needles before and even once in a finger. They can be a bit painful but Dr. Neal was so gentle that I really didn't feel them! He was also gentle in cutting off the lesion. His assistant, Marco, was extremely informative with me regarding the post operative care as well as informing me about signs to look for during a proper healing. Although I have only been seeing Dr. Bhatia for about a year for various sun damage problems to my fair Irish skin, the warmth, support, and interest in my well-being from the very start has genuinely put my mind at complete ease about everything to do with my skin conditions. Geri has always greeted me with a smile and a warm welcome and said goodbye with a cheerful smile. I miss Mary and her mother's Afghani food...best wishes to Mary for a bright and promising future! Marc has been there for all of my procedures and is one of the kindest, most-patient people I have ever met. In addition to being a compassionate person, Marc is extremely aware and knowledgeable about dermatology. Marc always takes time to thoroughly explain the sequencing of events and answer any questions that I have about what is about to happen and what I should expect afterwards (for those who may be interested, I have had several surgeries to cut out bad cells, including a complicated surgery behind my left ear, as well as the normal course of pre-cancer treatments). Finally, there is Dr. Bhatia. Dr. Bhatia is a rare breed of person who, though impressively informed and knowledgeable on numerous and various subjects, never makes me feel like I am inferior to him. Although I am not prone to describing a doctor (or a mechanic, or a plumber, etc) in such flowery and flattering terms, there are occasions in life when one meets a unique human being; Dr. Bhatia is that human. Underlying all of his unparalleled technical knowledge and skill is a person, a doctor, who genuinely wants to provide the most-recent and most-effective results-yielding treatment possible because he actually and truly cares about me as a human being. By way of example, after the he performed the complicated surgery behind my left ear, Dr. Bhatia took time away from his family that evening to call me to check up on me and to make sure that I didn't need anything. Unfortunately, growing up in So Cal surfing and working in construction means that I will spend the remainder of my life always having procedures (if you have to beat your children to get them to wear sunscreen, do it!), but I can't imagine having anyone other than Dr. Bhatia and his fantastic team to work on me! read more

I highly recommend Dr. Bhatia of Therapeutics Clinical Research. I have Actinic Keratosis on my arms and face. I was about to give up on being treated for this problem as my previous dermatologist would only recommend the use of the old Efudex cream which I have a high sensitivity to. The staff are very kind and Dr. Bhatia was so supportive and explained that there are newer treatments available. He prescribed a new medication I did not know of and a treatment strategy for my highly sensitive skin. It worked fabulously well !! I had no itching and did not have to take Benedryl while using the medication which was always the case in the past. Now I don't have to worry about getting skin cancer anymore. If you're looking for a new dermatologist, this is the best place to go. I found Dr. Bhatia on ZocDoc, while looking for a new derm who accepted my insurance. Geri from his front office called me the day before my appointment and sent over the necessary forms in order to expedite the appointment. I popped in originally for a consultation regarding removal of a lipoma within my right axilla (read as: right armpit / lymph nodes :) ). Marc walked me through most of the consultation, discussed with Dr. Bhatia and then had enough time to squeeze me in then & there. They were both very pleasant and helpful, Marc provided extra bandages, plenty of tips and tricks and followed up later that afternoon to ensure that all was going well. In a world where medicine has become a robotic system, it was so great to meet the team at Therapeutics.
