Howell's Kitchen and Bar is a favorite dining spot for my husband and me. The servers (this visit Michelle G. and many times in the past, Deondray S) are exceptional. Friendly and helpful, and attentive. The nicest people. Michelle has a great smile! The food is flavorful. We highly recommend the Nachos (either with or without Chicken), the Margherita Pizza, and the Peanut Butter Cups as dessert. Went from hidden gem to hidden for a reason, the service is okay but the food has just gone down hill. No sure if they are going broke or what is going down but the quality and flavors went from 10/10 to barely making it to 3/10 . Great experience at Howells I particularly enjoyed my experience with Devin and Richard. Devin the bartender. He was very attentive and provided great service. He offered suggestions based on my preferences which I appreciated. Richard the waiter. He provided great attention to detail. Love this place! My partner and I went on a busy Friday night. The wait for outside seating wasn't bad at all, probably took us about 15 minutes to get seated, which is great for atlanta restaurants. The side I ordered got mixed up and before I could even alert them someone walked by my table, noticed, and brought me the correct side. I don't think that's ever happened when an order has been wrong. Another thing was that although it was busy , it wasn't super loud like a lot of restaurants get. I liked this place a lot. Bartenders were funny and very nice. It has a great ambiance and would likely make a great date spot. The food was very good. We got the dip trio which was pretty standard. And then my friend got a burger that we said was "bomb" and I had the adult chicken tenders with bbq sauce which was also super tasty. We also split a three meat pizza that was pretty good as well. Someone I love dearly recommended this restaurant to me. I visited about a month before the shut-downs resulting from the pandemic. I can recall having a server assigned to my table who seemed to be rushing me to tell him my selections, then scurrying off to put my order in. He resurfaced with my plate (missing the condiments I requested), and never returned to find out how I was "enjoying" my meal, OR to bring the check. I actually wound up flagging down another server who was kind enough to print out my bill and accept my payment. Dinner was ok, and I'd never dine here again, let alone recommend it. read more

Great ambiance, great food, much nicer than you would expect for a local neighborhood restaursng. I've been here once before but will certainly be back! The menu has a great variety and the drinks are great. For dinner service it has a nice sexy vibe that could make this a great date night spot. I sat at the bar and they were busy so I can't speak too much to the service but they were pretty quick about water refills and sauces. I ordered wings and Brussels sprouts. We came here late on a Sunday afternoon, and there was plenty of parking in the garage just outside. I was first surprised by how many seating options there were-- the place was huge and I didn't get to see all of it, but there is seating on the patio, in open air booths, booths and tables inside the bar area, and at the bar itself. We opted for the latter, as we just came in for a drink. The atmosphere was really relaxed inside, a bit noisier outside-- like I said, you have options! My friend recommended the $3 house beer, which we both ordered. The other beers were ~$6 and the cocktails ~$10. You can't beat $3 beer though! Our server was phenomenal and even brought us water before we could ask :) I'm looking forward to posting an update after I return to try the food! read more

I really wanted to like this place. I wish it's food would match its decor. My husband and I picked up dinner and it was just ok. He had the chicken sandwich and fries which were cold and old. I wasn't that hungry so I ordered the Bavarian pretzel and a side of broccolini. The pretzel was good but the broccolini was cold and flavorless. Love this place! Food has always been spot on. Would highly recommend the Korean BBQ egg rolls; only 2 per order but amazing (great sauces). My go to: The chicken sandwich (Clucker) is one of the best I've had out. The bar always seems to be packed on weekends with a good crowd. Moscow mules are great. Also Tuesday special house bottle of wine/personal pizza for $20. Would like to see something made with their Korean bbq meat as an entree. (Bahn Mi?) I want to love this place. The food is great but the service has been slow the past 2-3 times we have been here. It's quite busy so I'm happy to see the place keeping in business!. I had the Hangover Hash on the brunch menu. The flavors were amazing and it was the perfect size. The biscuit was fresh and flaky, but they put such a small amount of sausage gravy over it, and my server was too busy to check on me to ask if I needed anything. Impeccable service, tasty food, and great atmosphere... what else need I say? Howell Kitchen is still relatively new, and a needed visual and culinary update to an area of Atlanta that was slow to bud. Until it arrived, the only restaurants around worth eating at were Felinis or Flying Biscuit. The outside is beautiful. It is an ode to late 1800's style architecture with painted white brick, accented with metal frame windows that bring in copious amounts of natural light. In inside is accented with clean wood grains on the tables and bar. For those warm sunny days, there is an outdoor patio. I won't ding them too much for not allowing dogs. Dee was an amazing server and really made my experience. What is the point to good food if the service is bad? He was great at making both drink and food suggestions, was extremely nice and attentive, and even suggested some great pairing that I would have never guessed went well together. The food is a mix between upscale bar food and new American. You can get a pizza, wings, or salmon. When you think of bar food you might get turned off to the idea, but it is actually done very well. No overly greasy plates here. Instead of fries try sweet potato fries. There is also a blackened Mahi sandwich listed alongside the burgers. There is are about 10 beers on draft and another 20 canned imported, domestic, and craft beers. They also have around 20 wines to choose by the bottle or glass. If you prefer a cocktail this is where they shine. They have many that I have never heard of, and I went broke doing a cocktail tour of NYC for a week. read more

Great experience! We came on a week night so parking wasn't a problem. The live music was not great though. Patio is dog friendly! Service was very fast, friendly and professional. It is good, solid American food for very reasonable prices. There is something on the menu for everyone. We started with the Brussels sprouts. They were light, crispy and flavorful. The server recommended the fish and chips because they have a good homemade batter. The batter was delicious and perfectly fried. My boyfriend had the burger. We had a reservation for 11am on Saturday morning but definitely wasn't needed. We were seated promptly and everyone was friendly. The food was just ok. We ordered beignets to start and one orderd was slightly overcooked. I asked for more powdered sugar and he brought the shaker out so that was good. We did mimosa. More champagne then juice. Most drinks you want more liquor but with the mimosa you need a balance, In my opinion. We did ask for more juice since we had the whole bottle of champagne. I dont remember our server's name but he was pleasant and fulfilled all request without hesitation. We had the Sunday plate and chicken and waffles. You only get a half of a waffle and it was super crunchy. The chicken was good. The plate was tasty ,sausage, fried egg, cheese grits and a biscuit. read more

Finally tried this awesome little joint out with my boyfriend when we realized it was 9:30 and we wanted more than just fast food. We got there with 15 minutes to spare before they switched to the "late night" menu, where they cut off most of the menu, and do bar food. Our server, Darius, seated us and made sure he got our orders in before the 10 PM cut off, so we could try their full menu. They were prompt with our drink orders, and outside has a great ambiance just far enough off the road that you don't feel like a MARTA bus is going to hit you at any moment. The bocce ball court is a nice touch, and can't wait to try it in the daytime. The woman who I believe was the manager, was super friendly, and made sure that we were taken care of - and was genuinely invested in making sure we had a great experience even an hour before close, which is a rarity especially in Atlanta sometimes. Now, onto the main event - food. I ordered the chicken parmesan, and my boyfriend ordered the Philly (with actual shaved steak). The beer prices were attractive, but I went with 'old faithful', PBR, for only $4 for a 16oz can. We also ordered the dip trio to start with. When the food arrived, the dips were delicious, and I was glad they gave us the most amount of queso - since most places fill you up on salsa, and give you a small amount of queso. The Chicken Parm was well cooked, thin sliced, and covered in melted cheese. The only downfall is that the chicken parm was a bit spicier than expected - but not inedible. My boyfriend said his philly was delicious, and the fries I *totally didn't steal* (sarcasm) were crispy, pleasantly salty, and addictive. Can't wait to go back! read more

I checked this place out with a dear friend on a Thursday evening. First impression, very warm and cozy rustic modern space. Great dim lighting, not too dim but just right. We sat at the bar and started with a bottle of wine while we caught up. I had done my yelp research on this place beforehand so we decided on the cheese sticks and brussel sprouts. Oh my goodness, they did not disappoint! Non previously frozen cheese sticks and the brussels were cooked and seasoned perfectly ... hit with just the right amount of balsamic and pine nuts. I highly recommend both. My only adjustment would be a lil more sauce with the mozzarella sticks. I would definitely return and try an entree. read more

I went here to celebrate my 45th birthday on New Years Eve. The weather was nice. Just a little cool out so Cas moved the firepit by us. Our server Richard was EVERYTHING. Ok. I loved this place. I know I say this a lot about a lot of restaurants ..... but Howell's is doin it. Simple, clean, modern, indoor/outdoor seamlessness with a yard of faux sod for the kids, it is nestled among newish highrises and boutiques and other restaurants in West Midtown- Howell Mill area. There is a sense of clean. There is a sense of space. They have a section on the menu called SOBRIETY and serve some basic AF drinks so you can have a relaxing time and still drive home without risking everyone's life. Parking is close, ample, and secure . The clientele seemed young well heeled parents with well behaved fun to watch kids and babies. This was a boon to me. I love kids and the energy of kids and cant ever get enough of babies. I did not hear any shrieks or cries and consider their noises like happy birdsong. Now thats just the shell of things- the setting. The menu is perfect- just enough choice to feel like you can serve your mood yet you dont second guess constantly that you should've gotten something else. My daughter got the burger with the Robonaise'which was sublime. The pickles were homemade and rival my own. The burger was delicious- the fat felt wholesome and necessary to our bodies and the fries well made. I got the meat pizza. Great pizza choices. I went on and got the meat one because thats always really what I want and let my husband usually get it so I can get some kind of trendy one- and it was perfect, too. GET THE BREAD PUDDING. Thats all Im going to say. Places like this need to flourish. For me, its where I want to eat, how I want to eat and where. Ben, our server, moved us inside when a storm cloud loomed. All by himself.
