Lovely spot for jazz. The customer service was amazing from start to finish. Everyone was genuinely kind, from the moment you walk in and pay the cover charge to the server who went out of their way to make you feel comfortable and stayed very attentive throughout the night. The music itself was also really good and felt like the main focus of the whole experience. If you are solo, there are not always the best views of the stage depending on where you sit, but it still felt worth it because the performance is strong enough that you stay engaged no matter where you are seated. They ask that conversation volume be kept to a minimum for the performers. The food was decent and a little pricey, but for the overall experience it felt worth spending a bit more. Between the atmosphere, service, and music, it added to the night rather than taking away from it. Overall the combination of great customer service, good energy, and the location near the riverfront made it a really enjoyable experience! Wow! What a great place in Chicago. We wanted to switch our reservation from the 10 Pm show to 8:15 Pm, quick phone call with Finnegan and not only could we switch but we were offered the front table. We came here last night and sat at the bar. $20 cover. Set went from 8:15 to 9:30. Not sure if we could've stayed for the next set, but we were all tired, so we left. The band was fantastic. Went for a office holiday party with the crew on a cold December night! The windy city ramblers put on quite the show. Some excellent jazz numbers blended with some hip hop vibes. The icing on the jazz cake was the drum showdown with the front man and the drummer. Made for excellent viewing. Now talking about the food - that left a lot to be desired. The Caesar salad was standard fare, followed by a mix of mains. I went for the Caribbean grilled salmon which was pretty basic - decent char but underwhelming flavours. New york strip steak was sadly overdone and chewy. The mix fruit berry cheesecake had potential but underdelivered. The drinks were alright, felt it was slightly watered down for our liking. Whenever we come into Chicago we always like to stop by Andy's Jazz Club for dinner and some good jazz. We've been here twice, once for the late night show on Saturday and another night we went on a Sunday for the earlier show. The earlier show felt a little short and almost a little more rushed since once the show was over they have to clean up for the next show. The food is fairly good. It's more of a place to go if you want to enjoy drinks, a live jazz band, all while being respectful and remain quiet during the performance. Hubby wanted to go to a bar that offers live jazz so we got a reservation. Since we booked the day before, we were only left with bar seating. Service was honestly so so at the bar. The ladies were busy running around making drinks so it took a while for them to take our order. They even forgot our beer until we reminded them. We ordered the chips and guacamole, a chop salad, a beer, and a mint basil limeade. Salad was very fresh and we really liked it. The added shrimp had a nice little kick to it that made the salad taste extra good. The music was lovely and overall hubby and I had a good time. The band did a good job hyping up the crowd and their energy was great throughout the show. However I was a bit disappointed that my view was obstructed by the draft beer tap, so I was watching the bartenders make drinks the whole time instead, which was honestly pretty entertaining as well. I also read another review that said supposedly they will shush you if you're too loud, but the ladies sitting next to me were chatting the whole time and they didn't get any warning. Gosh I adore this place! Definitely one of my go-to places in Chicago. You just can't have a bad time here. This was a fun place to mellow out, have a drink, and enjoy a live jazz band going at it. Depending on the night or venue, you may have to make reservations in advance as they can sell out quickly. Best to call in or check their website for more information. Drinks were great here. They made my espresso martini quite well. If you are into other drinks, they have a full bar. In terms of food, it's ok and as expected for the most part. I would have rated their offerings based on taste, texture, and flavor at 3 stars. Overall offering warranted the 4th. There were some minor issues, but it wasn't the establishment's fault. Some of the folks nearby were talking at a higher volume than they should have, which detracted from the enjoyment of the band. We scheduled our trip to Chicago so that we could see the Shout Section Big Band. So glad we did that! The band was fantastic and the singer, Tatum Langley was wonderful. If you like Swing/Big Band music this is a MUST SEE and if you aren't sure you should absolutely give it a try. It was the highlight of our trip to Chicago and we did a lot of things. As far as the venue, Andy's, it was mediocre. The food was so-so. Calamari had one sauce that was way too hot even for me and I'm a five star gal. The other sauce was bland with not a bit of flavor. The jambalaya and shrimp or risotto both had good though. Our server Michael was a big letdown. He didn't seem to really want to be there, was unfriendly and neglectful. This was my first time at a jazz club with live music, and the atmosphere itself was very nice. The band played well and really set the mood. But the biggest issue was the audience around us. The people sitting nearby kept talking loudly throughout the performance, which made it impossible for us to really focus and enjoy the music. Before the show, staff clearly announced that guests should remain quiet during the performance -- yet many ignored it. What I can't understand is why the staff didn't enforce it or ask those people to quiet down. It ruined the whole experience for us. On top of that, the food was average, the service was just okay, and our seats weren't great -- a beer tap blocked most of our view, so we could barely see the stage. Overall, great live music but poorly managed atmosphere. Because of these issues, I can only give it three stars. A great place to go to while in the city. You have to make a reservation online and put a credit card down to reserve the table but then when you get to Andy's, you have to pay a cover charge. The servers and hosts were very nice. Plus the Jazz band that was playing was magnificent. The food was good. I've heard lots of good things about Andy's, so decided to go check it out I went recently on a saturday for the MC quintet. Reservations are required, but I waited until a day or two before to make mine, so I was lucky to get some of the last seats available at the bar. Cover was $25 at the door. Ordered a wine and split the sliders and fries with my friend. Wine was delicious, food is a little pricey for what you get but definitely good. The show was great, really talented musicians, a nice variety in the pieces they played. Reservations are only good for one show so we left after the first set. Really enjoyed the experience! Let me start by saying the jazz artists were amazing. The club itself leaves me with a raised eyebrow. We were a party of five and already had dinner so we're here for a show and nightcap. The drinks were generally good although one of us had such a heavy pour that it wasn't consumed. Some might not consider that a problem, I imagine. There are signs upon entering that say this is a quiet space so you are not expected to talk with your party. Honestly that was disappointing but we decided to enjoy the music and the night. At one point I whispered to my colleague and a woman came behind us and shushed us. We were not yelling or being loud at all. We laughed it off but it was over the top and unnecessary. read more

This place is great for tourists and jazz fans alike. The staff gets everybody seated and set up, the bartenders and servers take great care of everyone, and the bands typically start their sets (and end them) exactly on time. While it runs like a well-oiled machine, suitable to get all the tourists in and set up for fun, don't let that stop you, true jazz fans. You'll still love it here. (And this is a listening room; they will shush you if you're being loud enough to disturb others' enjoyment of the music.) Tourists, don't be afraid to come here to get exposed to the good music that Chicago has to offer. The music is real jazz, with a different band every night. My favorite is Sabertooth on Thursday nights. They know how to please the crowd, and their musicianship is fantastic. I guess the club loves them, too, because they keep extending the band's Thursday night residency. I was looking for a nice place to listen to jazz music and take my wife and father-in-law. I looked up Andy's Jazz Club and was not disappointed. Note: you must make a reservation through the Open Table app or website. They use your credit card as a hold and ONLY charge it if you don't show up for your reservation.... So you had better show up. Get there at least 20 to 30 minutes BEFORE your reservation because a line will form and you don't want to be in the back. They will charge you at the door to get in and the open table hold is removed. The place is nice AND clean. Our service was great and our server kept coming back to make sure if we needed anything else or just to fill our glasses with water. My wife ordered the beef nachos plate. The cheese was a little on the "not so warm side", but we ate the whole plate.... Well we were hungry.... Suggestion: ask for the black beans pico and the avocado crema "on the side" so the nachos won't be as soggy. Keep the cheese, jalapeños and meat on the nachos. You'll thank me later. My father-in-law got the buffalo shrimp. Now these come with celery and blue cheese, if I remember correctly. He gave me a taste of these babies.... And boy were they good. Not too saucy for having them covered in the hot sauce and the crunch of the celery was the perfect touch. We also ordered an Old Fashion drink and a Long Island Tea. My father-in-law loved the Long Island and the Old Fashion was spot on. On to the music... I suggest you research who is playing and at what time. You can check out the bands and then look them up on their respective websites and then choose your time. We chose the 10:00 pm hour and the band was awesome. Excellent jazz quintet played on Valentineś weekend. The food is ¨club food." not gourmet, but OK all the same. Staff is friendly and accommodating. My wife was in a wheelchair and they went out of their way to set us right across from the stage and in a place where she had ample room and other patrons could get around her easily. I recommend this place for a celebration and for people who enjoy great live jazz. read more

Went to the iconic Andy's jazz club after dinner to hear the Bob Lark Alumni Big Band. Excellent show, excellent space, great time. Why four stars? Ok, so you HAVE to have a reservation to get in according to their website. I knew I wasn't going to eat (I was eating while making my res) so I reserved a spot at the bar so people who might be eating or more than one person in a group (I am a single) could get a table. I didn't know the view from the bar was semi-obstructed; the sound is semi-obstructed (listening to music from the side ain't the same as being in front of it). But I did it because I thought it was the right thing to do. And the place is (about) half-full. I would have thought the door person, or front desk person, or even the bartender might have said "hey, you want to move to a table in front instead?" but that didn't happen. And I didn't feel like trying to just take a table...I got the vibe that they wouldn't hesitate to kick me out. Anyway. Great show (thanks Bob Lark!). Cool spot. If i were rating on the music alone it would be 5 stars. the Abney Effect were absolutely talented. I love the live music and I appreciated that it wasn't so loud that my ears hurt. The service wasn't anything special, our server only came by to top water and next asked if our food was good. My friend ordered the mint basil mocktail and felt that they put way too much simple syrup. We ordered desserts, the bread pudding was yummy but the lava cake was overcooked and very dense so we didn't have more than a bite of it. The band was great. Everything else? Not so much. Went on a Monday night for their 5:30. Off the bat, the clientele were pushy and rude, with no regard for personal space. I'm no stranger to crowded places, but really it wasn't THAT crowded that you needed to be up against the person next to you. Both the person behind me in line to get in and the person sat next to me at the bar were like this. The service was lackluster. My food came out later than those who ordered after me, and while everyone else's plates were cleared promptly after they finished, I had to ask for them to clear mine. Counter real estate for bar seating is precious and it was disappointing that I was being overlooked. The food likewise was nothing to write home about. All this for ~$70? No thanks. The place was pretty full but honestly any seat you get in the place is pretty good. The servers were attentive and the hostess and doorman were sweethearts. The band playing was really good and kept us entertained the entire set. Food was brought out quickly and we were notified of last call shortly before the set ending. We only ordered appetizers but what we had was pretty tasty! Overall it was a great night and great ambience. Andy's has been on my list for quite a while so I was glad to visit during a friend's birthday celebration. The jazz music was excellent! I wish the show was longer than an hour and a half. There are two shows (at least on Saturday) so the staff was prompt at ushering patrons out. I wish our group could have stayed longer for the next show (would have been happy to pay another $20 entrance fee to do so). This place was also strict on IDs. I was waiting on my new ID, didn't have the temp (just the current ID) and the staff at the door radioed to the servers to not serve me any alcohol. They did mention that if I had a picture of my passport that would have worked, but I did not. So remember to bring your ID, $20 cash, and be prepared to leave promptly when the show ends! read more
