Haven't been to Streeter's in ages! Love that things haven't changed and for the better! It's still a fun and happening dive bar like I remember it from my college days. Came here after our company's Christmas party to grab some drinks and mingle some more. The crowd is chill and mixed and just a fun atmosphere. We played a game of darts, sat around and talked and people watched and drank some dranks. Great bar located in the heart of downtown and it was pretty poppin for a Thursday night. read more

The low lights and overall vibe fit the basement aesthetic, I was defiantly thrown off by the one way mirror in the men's bathroom (which does protect the privacy of the occupant!). There were 2 Bouncers, 1 told me I could get in for free since it was my birthday, the other then stopped me and claimed my ID was fake and expired but then realized he was looking at my birth date instead of the expiration date. He then made me pay to get in. He also chose the non drink deal for the same price as the regular cover deal on my phone, for me. I don't go to bars to be told how to think politically by the owners. I live a block away and used to come here regularly. It looks like customers tape things up on the walls. In front of the main bar, someone put a sticker with an expletive followed by the name of the current president. Now, it may not be the owners' fault what the customers do. However, they also chose to leave it up. I don't agree with everything the current president does, but I do happen to agree with a lot of it. The point is, don't offend your customers with dumb garbage. I will never come here again. read more

We've been loyal customers at Streeter Bar for years, stopping in multiple times a year during our travels. Part of the charm was always seeing the same familiar, professional staff who made us feel welcome. Sadly, that consistency and quality are gone. On our most recent visit, the experience couldn't have been worse. The staff were very young and completely disengaged -- one even said he "could not WAIT to get off" right in front of us. Rude, uninterested, and certainly not what you expect when you're paying premium prices. When the shift changed, things didn't improve. The new group never bothered to check on us; they were too busy wrapped up in their own conversations. And then came the bill. I had one dirty martini -- served in a 3 oz plastic cup with well vodka -- while my husband had two beers. The total? $70. I questioned the outrageous $30 martini charge thinking it must be a mistake, but the bartender dismissively told me, "Nope, that's correct." No apology, no explanation, just attitude. For comparison, earlier that same evening I enjoyed a much larger, better martini at the Starbucks Bar for $15 in a real glass. The contrast says it all. Streeter Bar is no longer about customer experience, it's about squeezing every dollar they can without care for service or quality. It's truly disappointing to see a place we used to enjoy decline so badly. After years of coming here, we won't be back. read more

We walked in and showed our IDs on Thursday night. We were standing at the bar when a bartender told us to go to the end of the bar to order. We stood there while both bartenders is completely ignored us for 7 to 10 minutes while taking orders from other people that were not at the end of the bar. We're not from here so we didn't know, but it was very interesting to be told to order at the end of the bar and then never be able to order. After being ignored we left I don't recommend also the entrance is not wheelchair accessible. read more

Visited while I was in town and ended up having such a good time here. Mickey (long brown hair) was genuinely one of the funniest & nicest people I've met behind a bar, and Emma was great too. Cool it's another underground bar. It seems like there's a lot around here. Streeter's Tavern is of course located in the neighborhood of Streeterville. Has to be one of the cheapest places around here and it certainly looks like it. This is an Irish pub but it looks like it could be any pub though. About the most notable thing about it is it looks like a basement. It's because it pretty much is. There's entertainment including beer pong, darts,and a pool table. Beer is cheap. Has $4 specials on bottles and liquor isn't that much more. Coolest thing is the bathroom. There's a window that can be seen through in the bathroom so you can spy on people at the bar while taking a leak. Good place to come and hang. It's kind of like a dank basement to hang out while getting drunk and watching sports. They don't seem to have food anymore but whatever. read more

They've also got darts and beer pong, and there's a juke box so obviously we serenaded the entire bar when our songs came on. Like I said, it's your neighborhood dive bar that stays open super late that's good, but don't like the fact that they only take cards but usually I wouldn't check my receipt. I signed for it but one day I did and noticed on top of them only taking cards they charge the processing fee of 4% so you're getting charged extra because you can't use cash. ridiculous and unfortunately who is going to suffer is the employees because I'm not gonna tip big like I normally due but now because I have to pay the processing fee. read more

I would leave zero stars if I could. The bouncers here need to be fired. On New Years Eve, a few friends and I (F) came to Streeter's to celebrate. Upon arrival, we heard the bouncers talking about how if a girl rejected them, they would sh00t them... Yes, they said that, comfortably and loud enough for us to hear. We left and they yelled at us and other women present. This bar is unsafe for women and it starts at the "security" outside. In addition, one of the bouncers summoned his Family Member to the bar when he saw I was there, which led to me getting harassed by this creep who had manufactured a relationship with me in his head. (I met FM once for under 5 mins and at the time didn't at all know the bouncer that told FM where to find me.) This was maybe a couple months ago. I thought I was alone in feeling uncomfortable with the "security" staff, but it's a frightening pattern. That sucks because inside, the bartenders and servers are all wonderful. The green tea shot isn't half bad either. I would love to come here if it weren't for my immediate safety being threatened by bouncers who either 1. know my name and make me a target or 2. find humor or pride in the victimization of women. It can't be all of them but it's enough to avoid this place. I tried to call to respectfully share my grievances with management, but no one could be reached, so all I could do was leave a voicemail and hope someone knows that this is the environment. Stumbled upon this place in the middle of a polar vortex and I was happy that we did! ID's were checked and surprisingly no cover charge! Streeter's is below ground and has a cool cave/basement type vibe. This place is not terribly big and it was packed when we were there. Half packed with people and half packed with their coats everywhere. One section had beer pong, another had a pool table, giant jenga, and the rest had small high-top tables throughout. Bar is to the right and the DJ is literally in a hole in the wall. The DJ took requests for a tip, of course and he had great songs. Staff were friendly and attentive. Bartender was ready to take our drink order right away and pushed out our drinks fast. The crowd was younger and some were friendly but some were a little sassy - one guy knocked over our jenga game and then flicked us off as he was crawling on the floor trying to find a ping pong ball - I have no words. I've always loved basement bars (Inglorious Basterds, anyone?), so I held a lot of hope for Streeter's. The entrance was thoroughly promising, giving the vibe of an old, underground dive bar. The inside looked a little newer, creating kind of a disjointed feeling. The bartender took quite a while to acknowledge us and interrupted me in the middle of taking our order so she could talk to another customer. They had only one type of red wine (which was a half-bottle for $27), and the music did not fit the scene at all. Finally, the bartender takes your credit card and simply puts it in a stack with the dozens of others that are being held. It seemed kind of amateurish. We just weren't feeling it, so we left after one beer to hit another spot on our pub crawl. It's a great location and I dig the basement, but c'mon guys, take a little pride in giving the tavern some character. read more
