We are so grateful to Denise for the care she provides these animals in need. I love the process, and how detailed it is. This showed us how much she cares about finding the perfect home for these little ones. We cant thank her enough for the adoption of our little Mia. We adopted the most precious beagle from this rescue in Dec. 2021. Denise was very responsive when we reached out to her via email and answered any questions we had. We communicated for about a week before we drove an hour and a half for a meet and greet. Mabel, the beagle, was everything we'd hoped for. She has provided us with so much joy and we can tell that she was well taken care of at the rescue. I would encourage anyone looking for an adult rescue beagle to touch base with Howlin4Spirit Rescue. Please adopt, don't shop! read more

We had such an easy adoption process with Denise. She did call my references to check us out (But I would expect her to, other agencies do not care). We adopted an older beagle last October and she's been a great fit for our family. Denise was honest about the dogs health and fitness. I'd defiantly adopt from her again read more

dec 2016 adopted a great dog rhea from this organization. denise was hard nosed but you could tell she really cared for her animals. dog was shipped to us in delaware and we're happy to report she is healthy and happy to this day (july 2021) i hate to see these negative reviews because she is a caring person! i wonder if there is more to these stories about denise. bill h. read more

I personally found my interaction with Denise Bault to be unprofessional and erratic personality and behavior. She is extremely unorganized. She brought a wonderful beagle to my home to meet for adoption and after a meet and great with my other dog and seeing how they got along, I decided her rescue would be a good fit for our home, She also agreed and we both signed a contract and I paid her. Then, she became irrational and emotional and insulted me. The next thing I know, she's picking up my new dog and taking her with her. I was appalled. I tried to find out why she was so mad but she only continued to grab her things. I was now angry. She had been insulting me with little comments and let's just say her people skills are lacking. I felt so bad for the dog. She picked her up so quickly she hit the dog's nose. I felt she was now stealing my dog in a sense. I would not negotiate with Denise and I feel such pain for the animals as I have a wonderful home (with a dog who's our family member) and she stormed out of my house and denied this precious beagle a forever home with a family. I respect people who donate their time and money to rescuing dogs and this was such a strange experience. We've rescued 2 dogs and have never had this issue. I hate to say avoid a rescue but avoid Denise at all costs. read more

This is a wonderful rescue organization. Denise, who runs the rescue, coordinates with fosters who save abandoned animals; she arranges adoptions and then drives from North Carolina all night all the way to New York, stopping and meeting with adopting families along the way. She and all those working with her are doing something wonderful for animals and saving many lives. Please adopt from her organization or send her contributions to support the fantastic work that they do. read more

I would NOT recommend this Rescue group to anyone. I put in an application for a dog and was in constant contact with Denise the owner, she never told me there was another application for the dog, she made me believe that as soon as she got all references for the dog she would be mine. After a few days (about 5 to be exact) with no response she called me on a Friday and told me she adapted out the dog to someone else (supposedly he had is references before mine came in). So she mislead me on that dog. She told me my application was approved and told me of other dogs that are available and might fit what I was looking for. She mentioned another dog and I was eager to see pics of her (I told her I would probably take her), it took her a week to send me pics and none of them were of the dog I wanted. I asked if the dog was still available and she said yes and said that she would send pics of the dog and believes she would fit in great with my older, female dogs. I was so happy. Then all of a sudden she is coming up with POOR excuses as to why the dog wouldn't be a good fit, first is was my fencing (too short), then it was my yard (not big enough for 4 small dogs LOL) which is .50 acres. Then it was that I live on a main road. With all these I kept asking her specific questions about the dog and wondering why she was making excuses, she NEVER would answer my questions except to say she knows the dog personally and it would not be a good environmental situation for her. Denise is a poor representative a ANY rescue groups and she lies and makes excuses as to why she has denied your request AFTER to said a few times the dog would be a good match. What a misleading person she is. I would NEVER recommend her rescue to anyone. She gets adopters hopes up and then destroys them with stupid ass excuses and can't prove a thing except are opinion. Denise would not even do a home visit or anything to try to make it work. She was trying to tell me that a 12' (not sure if that really is her size because she never would answer my question) Beagle can jump over a 4" wooden fence, I asked her has she seen the dog jump that high (again would not answer my question). I have a 12" Beagle that can jump up above my waist and I am 5" and can't make it over the fence (so what is she talking about) again a poor excise for a rescue. read more

They were able to give us many options from a local kill shelter (without us feeling pressured- really!) and then followed through with all the information we could ask for about the dogs we were interested in. Jillian was constantly available and willing to work with us when it came to transportation for our new pup. We received constant updates with pictures from both Jillian and Chad, which made us feel included through the entire adoption process; from them pulling him out from the kill shelter and then rehabilitating him until we were able to adopt. I lamented that in this instance their policies would be denying a dog a good and loving home, and ended the call. Five minutes later, the same, self anointed "Director of Phone Etiquette" volunteer called back to chastise me, and my attitude. She ACTUALLY called back to put me in my place. (Hence the 1 star rating.) After a heated exchange, she told me to "Go back to the 'North' where you came from!" and ended the call. I think if I were an actual 'Northerner' I might have been offended by that statement. Keep this in mind my Northern neighbors who have moved to the area. Your 'Northern Dollars' might not be wanted if making donations. I feel sorry for this frustrated woman and anyone who has to encounter her. Guess I should be blocking the phone number, I suspect she might also be the self anointed 'Responder in Chief" to 'less than positive, reviews. Apologies only accepted by paper mail.

The last time I was in the office the phone was ringing constantly. You can also leave a message through Facebook messenger. They will normally respond within 48 hours. I have had several cats spayed or neutered there through the years. I have taken cats to the old location and the new location. Everyone that I have dealt with has been very professional and helpful. I've never had any problems with the surgeries or recovery times. I have multiple cats of my own and have rescued many cats to be adopted. They have been a blessing to me.

Paula is a talented, *imaginative* dog trainer, and encouraging for the handler (who after all is usually the problem, not the dog!) One reason why I did my research and chose Paula was because of her *tremendous* variety of experience and accomplishment -- she has taken dogs to OTCH level in obedience AND worked seriously in K9 SAR, certifying dogs in NAPWDA trailing and HRD/cadaver. That level of accomplishment in *multiple* disciplines spoke very well of her skill -- and her personality of positive encouragement was an added bonus. I also appreciate her experience in high level training for a variety of breeds -- hounds and GSDs (both very different) and Huskies (my breed). I'm just super thankful I found her and reached out to her.

They were so kind on the phone and immediately figured us into their busy schedule. The hospital makes you wait in your car and then call or text to check in. Once a room is available they bring you in. If you are not vaccinated they require you to wear a mask. Dr. Buchanan saw my dog and all my worries melted away. He is extremely intelligent and kind. He even got down on the ground and sat with my dog while he was checking his foot. I had lots of questions and he easily answered them. He gave me the information for an emergency after hours vet if needed as well. Overall the staff here is impeccable and truly want the best for your animal. They are all very friendly and eager to help.

We're hoping he has many more years now that we've figured out his issue, and are taking care of it. Thank you!
