I find myself writing this review from the toilet. Typically, while I do not write reviews, I felt compelled to do this one. As I strolled into the men's room to expel my last meal, I was shocked to be greeted with a glorious smell of wild flowers and the site of a spectacularly clean men's room. The toilets were very clean. They did not look like the night sky galaxy in the desert sky where stars beckon you to feel closer to god but with fecal material on the bowl instead. I have yet to have any food here so far but if this is the beginning. I look forward to a spectacular experience here. Update one: The toilet paper was one ply. Forgivable for now... Update Two: The food was okay. Pretty sure the beef was frozen for my burger not fresh. The pretzel was burned but I ate it anyway. The beer was okay. read more

Restaurant is down the street from our house and we eat here often. We always get good food and love the specials for taco Tuesday and steers and beers on Wednesdays. Wait staff can be hit or miss, stop gossiping at the bar and pay attention to their tables would help. read more

I was in town for the 2023 Texas Master Naturalist annual meeting . The conference ended Sunday morning, so I decided to spend the rest of the day visiting all the spots I had wanted to see before I headed back to San Antonio on Monday. Howling rabbits was one of the places I wanted to visit. it was easy to find and had lots of parking. It was in a newer building complex and was very nicely designed. I sat at the bar at first, and got lots of help from a young lady who was tending the bar area. Unfortunately, when I looked at my receipt to get her name, there was a man's name in her place. I guess somebody else did the ringing up. I had two flights of beers so that I could try all of their brews. I liked all of them, especially the guava sour and the red ale. I hadn't eaten anything but a few pieces of fruit, so I decided I needed to order one of their pizzas. The one I got had Carnitas, bacon, and some other stuff on it. I really liked it. It was too much for me, so I took the other half in a box to go. They had lots of really nice big screen TVs showing sports, including one that was a composite screen of about 25 other ones. It took up one whole wall. I am taking one star off because they did not have their beers updated in the Untappd app. I didn't get to count three of them because they weren't on the list. That's a big no-no for me. All in all, I liked it a lot and would go back if I lived in the area. read more

I stopped in here while in McAllen for work and wanted to explore the local cuisine. Inside, the interior is like a big warehouse very industrial. Gotta say the Rib Eye and Pastor Tacos are AWESOME!! The 3 taco plate are very well stuffed and the garnishes are RIGHT ON!..I think the chefs REALLY got their MOJO on!!...so the craft beer is also VERY tasty..the Guava Rabbit Punch and Palm City Blonde, for example are "OH BOY..call an UBBEER" good!. The Service was a bit slow, but I had NO problem since it was quite busy. I do have to call out not being able to watch my Beloved Detroit Lions and had to settle for the Patriots/Jaguars game...who the hell roots for the Patriots anymore??... :) Ambiance wise..oh boy, can NOT argue with the HUGE TV SCREENS!! Such a great watering hole! Convenient location for us, but it's easy to miss since it's tucked away in the back of the shopping strip so keep your eyes peeled! They offer a wide variety of drinks and the beer they brew there, of course! They also have a great food menu. I ordered the Howling Torta, which was delicious. There's a large patio area, as well as, indoor dining. They have cooling fans outside to make sure you don't over heat! Plenty of TV screens to go around. It is kid friendly. My only gripe is that the service was lacking. It took about 20 min to get in a drink order and I had to ask for refills multiple times since our server kept forgetting. Hopefully that will improve. We sat ourselves and watched the Four or five waitresses, standing at the end of the bar looking at each other to figure out who was going to have to come and serve our table. After getting our drinks, that was the last time we saw the waitress till the very end. When we were ready to pay no one wanted to come over to help even though 3 bar tenets, a couple of waitresses and one of the managers/owners saw us trying to flag someone down. The manager went to look for our waitress instead of coming to ask what we needed. just to have an other employee come ask what we needed and have an other person bring the check and our original waitress come collect and ask if we needed our change. read more

We did a search for breweries in our area and was pleasantly surprised to see Howling Rabbits pop up. Nice selection of brewed beers ordered an appetizer of hot corn dip with tortilla chips. It was so good that I've been searching for a recipe! Then ordered the supreme pizza and it was delicious! Great service from the bartender and we had a nice visit with the brewer. It's been almost a year since they opened and really impressed with the number of stalls in the women's bathroom. Very clean and spacious with lots of TV's. You won't be disappointed! read more

I really want to love this place but I can't. Ambivalent service is a charitable description, they don't act like they need your business. The "spicy kale chicken ceasar" salad is dare food: horrible beyond belief and I dare you to finish it. What did I ever do to deserve that meal? Had lunch there on Saturday and it was really good, pizza was a bit oily but delicious flavor and a huge cheese stick. After that a few beers, I was in a sweet mood so I tried a black cherry and apple/ pineapple cider and they were refreshing. I was useless the rest of the day. We sat outside so I could smoke but as it got later it got busier, louder and there were a lot of kids running around; but you can't help that so I just didn't smoke. Attempted to try this place out THREE TIMES and will definitely not be going back. It is very disorganized, there's no hostess and no one (nor a sign) explaining the seating or service arrangement. The bar area has chairs all around it and all the tables have chairs to it, so you have to get a table, or go in between people sitting at the bar to get drinks. Employees just walk past you and don't even make eye contact. I got a waitress/server's attention and asked how we went about getting a table, she was nice enough and explained wherever we could find sitting and said there was tables outside as well. As we were walking out to the patio there was a server cleaning out a table and we asked if it was taken and he responded no; we sat down and started looking at the menu and a waitress walked to us and said the table was taken and the people were outside smoking. We explained to her we asked before sitting down and she just responded "he's just cleaning, he's not a server and doesn't know". Went back to the bar and as the same waitress was walking past me I asked her if tables put together where only 2 people are sitting could be broken up - pointing to a specific table. She responded it wasn't her area and was starting to walk away, I asked if she could ask them (because she's an employee AND server) and her response was "We are just a bar, you can go ask them". Her whole tone and demeanor was terrible. They're not just a bar, they advertise it as a brewery and full service kitchen. We decided to just leave. Came here a couple days ago, homer or Omar was being very pervy and disrespectful to my table. honestly poor service on managements part, expected from their perspective to enlighten the situation but they honestly made it worse.
