    Backyard - Before

I found Hugo on yelp. I was impressed that he had such high ratings. The first phase of our backyard project was to replace the existing pergola and extend our patio. Hugo and his guys did an awesome job. His customer service is wonderful. I actually picked him over 2 other companies because 1. he showed up on time for our initial meeting, 2. his estimate was on time and the lowest but also the most complete and 3. I felt he understood the design and what we wanted. He came in on budget and on time (took about 8 weeks). We even had left over pavers that Hugo placed in our front yard. Everything turned out perfect. I can't wait to have him come back and do the next phase.

We confirmed over a month ahead of when he was going to start work and then he canceled last minute. Now I am left as square 1 to find someone before school let's out.

Let me first say that the level of customer service experience and accurate knowledge and on time is remarkable. The sense of urgency given and quality of work was amazing. I was not stressed or worried. They very including me explaining and bottom line got the job done right the first time. Thank you guys and I will be using them again for my upcoming project.

    Beautiful work.

Hugo was an absolute pleasure to work with. He's honest, efficient, and cares about quality. The work that he's done for us looks more expensive than what we actually paid for. Thank you!

Hugo was very responsive to messaging. We needed a concrete surface put in for our hot tub purchase. As we consulted him for the estimate and our needs he made some great suggestions. We decided to add a concrete slab and paver stones for our hot tub area. He spent extra time to find paver stones that matched the stones we already had in our back yard. The exact ones were no longer produced. We are really enjoying the our hot tub and the lovely pavers around it.

I found Hugo's ad on craigslist due to needing a wooden fence rebuilt in my yard. He was very responsive via phone, came out for a quote, and finished the project all in one day. The quality of the fence is awesome, very sturdy build and custom craftsmanship is very good. I would definitely provide a referral and pictures of the work completed to anyone needing a wooden fence built!

This involved pouring over 1,500 sq. ft. of concrete, a large retaining wall, a patio deck, a new lawn, and a playground area. Here were some of the highlights of my experience: - Design Guidance: I relied heavily on Baltazar's experience and keen sense of design. His elegant hardscaping solution for the pool transition zones exceeded my expectations and tied the yard together perfectly. - The grading and drainage were very well done. Despite heavy rains, there was zero pooling; the rain gutters were routed directly into pipes beneath the concrete for a clean, streamlined look. - Smart Home Integration: All landscape lighting and irrigation were hooked up to smart-home enabled controllers for total automation and convenience. - The office staff was very responsive, addressing any concerns or follow-up questions usually within a single business day. Props to Gladys and Dahlia! Highly recommended!

Again, with much Prayers for God's Guidance, Directions we contacted for 3 Bids. One company with the initials of SL on Yelp great reviews was not a pleasant experience for us. They wanted Photos before they would even consider to bid. After much stress I did the photos, took the measurements as requested. I didn't expect them to come out to bid but they did and their bid was very high. I kept on praying and D&I Landscaping appeared and had great Yelp reviews. My initial reaction was Alyssa Torres was my first contact very personable and then we booked for Luis Blanco to come out to access our needs. No request for measurements or photos at all. Our job was easier only because my hubby knew what he wanted to have done and gave them his Vision and with their advice and help we tweaked a few things. Pavers is not an easy job especially when there's already Pavers installed, the guy I watched him and he was so methodical and kept placing Pavers down until he felt that he got the flow down and it was an amazing and challenging job but he did very well in my opinion. What we Love about D&I , is one of the owners Irving and their Designer Luis came over to meet with us. D&I doesn't charge for a Designer as some other companies do its part of their services. Irving, David, Luis and Alyssa and the entire Crew are so professional again this company was very Honest, Reputable, Hardworking and most of all they listen to our needs. One time our water spigot started leaking or spouting and we have this Project Group Text that they set up for us, all we do is text and within a few minutes David one of the owners showed up and turned it off while we were gone. They installed a water spigot that is easy for us to reach. They finished our Irrigation system along with installing a Rain Bird timer. It's hard to find a good honest company with Integrity but this company has it. Remember the company with the Initials SL think of S = a hard rock. Well... we had 3 bids which included backyard and front yard. When I called SL company and explained change of plans not doing the backyard she said oh, well that changes your front yard quote by 8 - 10% I was livid are you kidding me? No, it changes your price, the Lord quickly had me shut the door on this company bad feelings from the time I contacted them had to do measurements and photos. When the guy showed up,from SL, I told him you're young but you are passing on small jobs because you don't have time, let me tell you something passing on small job could lead you to something bigger, he was cordial and what was funny was after I went into the house he took measurements. When during our conversation I said how can you bid without taking measurements he replied because I've been doing this a long time really you're not even 40 Years old. D&I I contacted them to not include our backyard sent me a new quote penny for penny they just took off the back yard quote the front yard stayed the same. Honesty and Integrity goes a long way plus they don't charge us for a Porta Potty as SL did on our quote $250 for a Porta Potty folks she said unless you want the crew into your house to potty. I did let our Painters use our restroom which is fine they're in our house anyway and they were so professional and kind to us. To each its own. Looking for good Quality Work, a company with Honesty, Interity and a great ideas on your Landscaping this is the company and we had Carpenter Bees in one of our Post. David one of the owners worked really hard into the dark repairing it and he also placed the boulders back onto our neighbors lot for them. Irving drops by to check on the progress of our project. Who does all of these extras? D&I Landscaping give them a call for a quote no job too big or small for them. One of our neighbors hired them shortly after seeing them here at our house for over a week. Thank you Irving, David, Luis, Alyssa for completing Marvin's vision for him this is all done now for our Front. @d&I landscaping incorporated

Well, let me tell you, D&I came to the rescue (not all heroes wear capes!) Within 1 week D&I had dug everything up, removed these trees and unwanted bushes and covered the entire area with weed cloth and pea gravel. They planted some really gorgeous flowers and shrubs, and set up irrigation so it's super low maintenance. The neighbors have commented that they love how the front lawn looks now! D&I are very communicative, kind, and give a fresh perspective to things. For example, I was thinking about redoing my backyard which I thought was stamped concrete. D&I inspected it and told me they are real flagstone and it's expensive and not worth replacing. I really appreciated that they weren't trying to squeeze every last penny out of us. They're trustworthy and I can't recommend them enough!

Another very happy customer of South Bay Design and Landscaping…read more We had South Bay out to do a full demolition of the existing "landscaping" from when we bought our house and the installation of an entirely new plan from our landscape designer (check out Dawn Engel- she's great!), which included a patio space, a pergola, driveway extensions, hogwire fence, raised planter beds, and a side gate added to our existing fence. These guys do not mess around. Demolition went insanely quickly, and our property was kept neat and tidy the entire time. We never once saw dirt tracked anywhere by the crew, which we can't say the same for any of the other contractors we've worked with (and we're actually quite happy with some of them!), and which becomes even more insane to think about when you consider the nature of landscaping work. Installation went as smoothly as South Bay possibly could have made it. Any time we ran into the occasional hiccup, as happens with all nontrivial projects, Matt, Danny, and Marcus offered thoughtful suggestions and made sure to confirm exactly what we wanted before proceeding. (We had either or both of Matt and Danny on-site most days of our project, and interacted with Marcus via email.) We were delayed a smidge by some heavy rain, but the crew worked through all but the worst of it (talking "if you step in that mud, you're going to lose a boot" type of rain). Partway through the install, we discovered that the previous landscapers had managed to make the L-shaped pathway leading from our driveway to our front door square with nothing- which wasn't easily noticed until we had the planter beds in and hogwire fence line chalked out. (South Bay had laid those out properly square to the driveway and house, as per our plan.) Matt, Danny, and crew were thankfully able to accommodate our request to fix our pathway up by picking up each segment and pushing the out-of-square part over by 4-6 inches; this added about a week of extra time to our project, mostly due to the fact that not all of the pavers could be reused, and that the pavers had actually been discontinued (!). The guys worked around this by sourcing very similar pavers in a different size, and basically cutting and grinding them to match our existing pavers. Post-install, the only way you'd know there are two different pavers in our pathway is if you'd seen it being taken apart and rebuilt. Plants, irrigation, and lighting all went in straightforwardly after the hardscaping work was finished, and Danny gave us a complete walkthrough of all our new outdoor systems. It's been about a week since our project was completed; the plants are all thriving, and we're still ecstatic about our new yards (and so are our neighbors!). In short: we had a fantastic experience working with South Bay Design and Landscaping for our landscaping project. They take pride in doing a quality job, and it shows in everything from demolition to day-to-day jobsite management to the finished project. If you're looking for landscapers, these are your guys. (Special thanks to Matt and Danny for graciously handling my incessant "are you sure you didn't forget about such-and-such little detail?" questions and never once forgetting about any of the details, and also to Sergio for spending basically an entire Saturday morning troubleshooting what ultimately turned out to be a manufacturing issue with our pergola.)

He replied promptly. During our communication, Renzo's clarity, persistence, knowledge and patience impressed and persuaded me, not to mention his very reasonable quote. Instinctively I knew I could trust Renzo and he is the right guy for my project, even though I haven't met him.  So I waited a month and hired him. The wait was worth it. They built three walls and one patio, redesigned front left yard by grading and building a new pebble pathway with statue, installed lighting and irrigation system that had better dripping rings. They also revamped the driveway that made it look brand new and pebble-covered the right front yard.  It was truly a remarkable experience. Not only they did an excellent job with fine craftmanship, but their punctuality, hardwork, efficiency, know-how, discipline, organization, respect, kindness and neatness were a force to be reckoned with and an inspiration beyond a mere landscaping job. They take pride at what they do and the result is phenomenal! Before and during the three-week construction, Renzo was very respectful and made me feel my opinion matters. He was responsive, accommodating, flexible, easygoing and honest. He listened. He always showed how it would look. When something didn't work out, he was open to suggestions and assisted with solutions. I felt he had my best interest. The level of care to my plants led to high survival rate during transplant. I also noticed one of my trees was magically recovered from disease and the other was vigorously blossoming, which has never happened before. They brought life to my garden. Everything was done very nicely. They cleaned up the whole place and it was much better and cleaner than when they started. They also showed up for additional work as promised. Renzo and his crew transformed my old and messy space into the most beautiful and meaningful garden/haven that I could have only dreamed of. With the new lawn, now my garden has never looked better. I spend more time there and enjoy it more than ever. Renzo at Total Landscape is the best! I highly recommend them!
