Our…read moreold concrete slabs were cracked, and had shifted, altering the drainage of water to flow towards our house. After interviewing many landscape pavers, Ideal Engineering stood out for being prompt to all the meetings, willing to visit multiple times to double-check measurements before bidding and were knowledgeable on the current state of available inventory and which showrooms to visit to preview them. Prices were very reasonable and transparent. There were no unplanned mark-ups and all change orders were reviewed and had to be approved by me in advance, so I could budget accordingly. I think this is an advantage of choosing a local paver. The work was efficient and professional - different specialized crews for demolition, irrigation, paving, cleanup were used with their own knowledgeable foremen. Each foremen acted as an available point of contact and communication was easy and friendly. Any texts or calls were usually returned within minutes. The teams were proactive in highlighting any complications or issues that might require design approval to make sure the work they did matched what I had in mind. For example, Pedro, the paver lead felt it was better to create a smooth curve at a corner instead of a straight 90 degree corner, and he was right! The boundaries flowed smoother and nicer with the lawn. The paving work was top-notch. We had decided to install premium pavers from Belgard, and it was important the work was done properly for such an investment. This included grading at the proper slopes for proper drainage, adding weed-resistant fabric, multiple levels of graded stone for proper leveling and polymeric sand for good sealing between pavers. The team helped build custom steps that looked very nice to create easy step-downs and paver edging was done with great style and aesthetics. For a potentially complicated project, I really felt confidence in the team and the process. David also helped offer advise in helping me move and reset our external heat pump units so that they could be reinstalled on top of the pavers. They were able to build conduits to facilitate running irrigation and electricity underneath the pavers for adding drip irrigation of containers and future lighting in our garden. Cleanup was thorough, with parts of our yard reseeded and topped with new topsoil. There was no construction debris left on our lawn or streetside. Everything was swept up. Fence gates that were temporarily removed were re-installed to appear as if nothing ever happened. I would definitely use Ideal Engineering (Ideal Landscape & Concrete) again for future projects.

El Camino General Engineering - Concrete Driveway Demolition Palo Alto

Need Asphalt Repairs/Work - Think twice about El Camino Engineering…read more Our driveway and adjacent area needed new asphalt. Got a bid from El Camino Engineering. We chose them because we thought they were the best contractor. We were wrong. First, the good news: In the end, almost everything was done properly. Bad news: Resolving issues took a lot of time and repeated requests. While El Camino had the integrity to fix most things, it was WAY too much effort to get those results. I DO NOT RECOMMEND El CAMINO ENGINEERING for your asphalt project. History: Work was done in late 2023 - a driveway with 3" of new asphalt and a carport area recoated. The driveway wasn't sloped properly for rain drainage. In the recoated sections, cracks reappeared. El Camino Engineering finally admitted that they quoted the carport as a recoat even though it probably needed a completely new 3" of asphalt because they didn't want to be the highest bidder. Then, we discovered that the quote had been misquoted for 2x the square footage!!! El Camino did reimburse us for the misquote. After discussions and meetings, El Camino agreed to redo the incorrectly sloped driveway and the recoated area. The driveway was done correctly, but the 2nd recoat had the same results--cracks! To us, this confirmed that the area should have been completely replaced with new asphalt. But to add insult to injury, when El Camino redid the driveway, their equipment rolled over a section of the yard next to the driveway, breaking the sprinkler spigots + wood border to the walkway. Before agreeing to reimburse the cost, they questioned whether they had caused the problem. We were so tired of the issues with El Camino Engineering that we just repaired the sprinklers ourselves.

Work is low quality. They came in after hours and made a mess. Left the food trash and other waste out in the open attraction rats and other animals that infested the neighborhood. The quality, the timeliness, the courtesy of Mr. Sione, his dedicated team members...In particular, Mr. Sione's team is comprised of very skillful, hardworking and polite workers. The workmanship, the honesty of the business...the very best! Our house happens to be on a street with a lot of foot traffic. Many by-passers smile and give us thumbs up for the job well done. It's a good feeling when neighbors like the new look of our house. We believe that Mr. Sione's contract price is very fair and his work has definitely increased our property value. We feel so fortunate that we made the right choice of choosing this company to do our landscaping work. Cheers and thank you Mr. Sione!

Sione's Concrete Construction delivered outstanding work on our project replacing broken pavement…read morethat the city had flagged. They were quick to respond, and communication throughout the project was excellent. Their bid was competitive, and they offered the most aggressive timeline--which they delivered on. The project wasn't straightforward--it required working around newly done landscaping, including the walkway connecting to the public pavement, as well as carefully navigating tree roots--but everything was handled very professionally. They were extremely knowledgeable about city permits and inspections, requiring minimal involvement from us. We would use them again for any future projects and highly recommend their services.
