I like my doctor and I was referred to HRC through my insurance for treatment. Unfortunately, all of my interactions with HRC have been super-disappointing so far. They are just SO non-responsive. It seems to be impossible to get anyone to pick up the phone, and when I leave messages, no one responds until I reach out 3+ times and basically beg someone to call me back. (So far, this has been my experience with making appointments, contacting the financial counselors, and reaching the IVF coordinator.) I find this especially disturbing since fertility treatment is typically considered a time-sensitive thing. So I can't imagine why they would think it is OK for their staff to take a week (or more) and require multiple contacts before they will respond to even very basic questions. This is not normal for medical treatment (especially such expensive treatment) so if you have a choice to select a different provider (like if your insurance does not specifically refer you here) then I would recommend you consider looking elsewhere. read more

Dr. Nelson and his nurse Claire are the best of the best. We came to Dr. Nelson for our first round of IVF last year after struggling with unexplained infertility for 2 years. We were previously going through Kaiser for treatment, and the differences between the two practices are night and day. Dr. Nelson is caring, compassionate, and realistic. Him and Claire made a crappy situation a little less crappy. Dr. Nelson immediately made my husband and me feel comfortable and at ease. He's extremely patient, detail oriented (went through at least a decade of my medical records), and never made me feel rushed or like my laundry list of questions were dumb. Claire was readily available, easy to talk to, and sweet. The response time to emails/calls with her was very quick. She made communication easy. Maria, from the billing department, is easy to deal with. If you have a question she gives a simple breakdown and is able to explain everything easily. The ladies in the lab were always very sweet and rooting for their paitents. I actually looked forward to getting my labs because of how nice they were. Everyone we came in contact with was nice and easy to work with. They made a bad situation a little easier to handle. We will forever be grateful to Dr. Nelson and his staff. Transferring our embryos from this facility to our new fertility facility was a pretty terrible experience. Firstly, the admin fees to release our embryos (yes the ones we paid tens of thousands of dollars to create), was $1,500 to simply release them. This doesn't include delivery to the new facility. The lab assistant was wonderful in helping us prepare the transport, however, the Cryo Coordinator, Vanessa, was incredibly unprofessional and quite rude. They held $1,600 on our credit card to borrow a tank to transport the embryos to the new facility, as well as a $100 rental fee. We had been told that we had to return the tank the same day, and agreed, though the two facilities were over 90 minutes apart. Vanessa changed the requirements when we arrived to pick up the embryos, and said we had to return the tank by 2pm, or else they would charge us another $1,600. Almost impossible timeframe to adhere to given the distance between the facilities, and that they didn't communicate that we needed to wait 45minutes when we arrived at HRC for the embryos to be prepared. Left a really bad taste in our mouth about HRC. It's too bad because we had a wonderful experience with our successful embryo transfer three years ago with Dr. Ho (who we followed to RPMG in Redondo). read more

Dear Yelp, how to give a review that's more than 5 stars?! Dr. Quinn, Josephine Lai (lead nurse), and their entire staff deserve it. They helped us through 2 cycles and were the most patient and supportive team. We did a lot of research before picking a clinic/doctor, and could not have imagined trusting anyone else with our process. Dr. Quinn - It's clear that Dr. Quinn is an expert in her field; not only does she have the knowledge and experience, but she also took the time to share that knowledge with us. She always answered all of our questions (and we had a lot of questions) and wanted to make sure all of our concerns were addressed every time; it never felt like she was rushing us, which is so rare for doctors nowadays (unfortunately). And then JOSEPHINE - First of all, Josephine is literally one of the most competent and efficient people I've ever met. I would trust her to run governments. She's incredibly proactive and responsive, and kept everyone (including us) organized throughout the entire process. If there was a question she couldn't answer / concern she couldn't address - which was rare - she immediately raised it with Dr. Quinn and/or connected with us the right team. IN ADDITION to being super on top of everything, Josephine was also so supportive, patient, and compassionate. It's clear that she loves what she does and cares about all of her patients as friends and human beings, not just another case in a line of cases. Again, so rare nowadays. Dr. Quinn + Josephine - As amazing as each of them are, I think it's also important to talk about them as a team, because how well they worked together made such a huge difference in our care. Dr Wilcox refused to do an egg freezing cycle because my AMH test showed my egg count was low. To treat me and potentially have an unsuccessful pregnancy attempt would lower his success rate numbers. Despite my wanting to move forward as a single woman in her late 30s, taking every measure I could to try for a future pregnancy, Dr. Wilcox denied me the care I sought him out for. Here is my honest review. I am so glad we chose HRC as our fertility clinic. Their level of professionalism was above and beyond my expectations. I've been to multiple clinics, and I felt like I was being scammed. I remember the second the elevator doors opened; I felt a sense of relief. The positive energy and ambience of the clinic made me feel like I was at a four seasons hotel. The nurses and staff were so helpful and respectful knowing that everyone entering the clinic is there to seek fertility help. Going through infertility you never know where your journey will lead you. With many heartbreaks through the process, it is safe to say our miracle doctor, embryologist, nurse, and staff involved helped welcome our first IVF BABY. My doctor was Dr. Ketefian, I can't put into words how professional, supportive, and most importantly HONEST she was during the entire process. It is so important to fully trust and have a connection with your doctor. It's safe to say the minute she walked in and greeted us I felt the strongest positive energy. Every appointment she took her time to explain what was going on. During our journey we had two failed IUI'S and going into it we already knew the chances were very low of having a positive pregnancy. We continued with IVF knowing our chances were much higher and thankfully our first IVF transfer was successful. Graduating from HRC was such a bittersweet moment. Knowing we have been cleared to have a healthy pregnancy was excited but saying goodbye to someone who was been next to us through this entire journey was hard. I will forever be grateful for Dr. Ketefian. My nurse was Cynthia. I have never met a nurse who responds back to emails so fast. Even if it was late at night she would respond back right away. Cynthia made lab works, appointments and prescriptions a breeze. We never had to ask her twice for medications or labs to be ordered. By the time I would walk out of my appointment everything was ready for me. She took her time explaining steps of how to inject. Her knowledge and tips helped me not to bruise once even with the progesterone shot. Her positive energy and organization made this process smoother. My embryologist was Kohar, I had only seen her at most 2 or 3 times. After my egg retrieval I remember waking up in tears, confused and scared. She approached me, held my hand and said, "everything went well, Dr. Ketefian will shortly inform you how many eggs we were able to retrieve." It's these little thoughtful things that stick out the most to you as a patient. During our embryo transfer yet again, her professionalism stood out. Rafa did the biopsy on our embryos. Safe to say no embryos were damaged during this process. In conclusion, I had to best experience here at HRC. I do not recommend HRC under any circumstances. I had treatment at their West LA and Encino locations and because Pasadena is where their corporate office is, I had the unfortunate experience of having to deal with the Pasadena office as well. Nobody could answer my questions clearly (when they bothered to respond at all, which took an enormous amount of work on my part) and requests for clarity were ignored--like I said before, when they bothered to even follow-up, which was rare, their responses were merely condescending rehashes of previous emails--none of which made sense to me. It was an incredibly frustrating experience. And also--the Pasadena office is in the news as someone is suing them for what seems to be an unfathomable mistake. Google the headline "Pasadena fertility clinic sued over embryo mix-up in which child born with deadly cancer gene" --that's the title of the KTLA article, and, as you could gauge from the headline, it's a frightening situation. I'm so glad I ended up switching to another clinic as I wouldn't trust HRC to do anything right, especially since this is NOT the first time in the past year HRC has been in the news for an embryo mix-up (Google HRC embryo mix-up and see stories from Summer 2022 involving a two-man couple.) Sadly, based on the way every single employee I've encountered at HRC functions (or, doesn't function might be more accurate...) this news doesn't surprise me in the least. read more

I'm so happy to say I'm a IVF graduate from HRC Fertility! Finally ending morning sickness so I am at a great place to write this review for Dr.Kolb and Nurse Nancy. They are beyond amazing to the point words cannot describe. But for the sake of this review, I'll try! Deciding which Doctor: Before coming to HRC, my husband and I had been trying for 3 years. I did Fertility acupuncture privately and 3 unsuccessful rounds of insemination at Kaiser. My infertility is unexplained as my tests and my husband's tests all came back normal. After trying for so long we finally decided to take the plunge with IVF. But which office should we choose? After tons of research via internet and talking to my friend who interviewed various offices, we finally decided to go with HRC because of the raving reviews. But if you're anything like me, I always go and look for the bad reviews to see how bad can they really be. Sorry HRC but there are some complaints here and there via Yelp but I know bad reviews can't always be trusted as they can be biased. But you know what I noticed, no bad reviews on Dr. Kolb and Nurse Nancy! NO BAD REVIEWS?! Ok easy choice!! Consultation was booked! I told my insemination Doctor that I was going to go to HRC to try IVF and she actually encouraged me (instead of get me to try IUI again) and asked which Doctor. When I told her Dr. Kolb she immediately told me he was a great doctor! Ok, now I'm REALLY convinced. Consultation: It was such an easy process, just go online, fill out some info and someone will call to book one for you. At the consultation, Dr. Kolb and Nurse Nancy were very kind. They were empathetic with everything I had been going through already but also very informative without any sugar coating so that I could wisely make a decision on which way to go. Dr. Kolb showed me statistics and fully explained the IVF process to me. And without a doubt, we decided to move forward. Treatment: I'm actually very surprised how smooth everything went. Nurse Nancy is very good at communicating!! She honestly makes me feel like family. (Insert teary eyed emoji.) Obviously this is something I've never done before so I was pretty nervous every step of the way. During my egg retrieval recovery, I was nervous or anxious about any different feelings or symptoms that showed up. But every time I reached out to Nancy, she replied with empathy and compassion. I was afraid of bothering her but she never once made me feel that way. But let's fast forward, every time there was good news I felt like the both of them were happy for us! We genuinely felt important in their hands and not just another transactional patient. I had such a good experience with them I wrote a children's book on IVF dedicated to them! The staff: Idk what kind of training HRC does but everyone is extremely nice there not just Dr. Kolb and Nurse Nancy. Even the lab side is extremely nice. When I found out I was pregnant some of the staff would make side convo with me and every time I told them, they congratulated me! Not a single person rubbed me the wrong way. Conclusion: Overall, I am so blessed and thankful for Dr. Kolb and Nurse Nancy. We can't thank you enough. Side note, after graduating from HRC a regular OB isn't as great lol especially when you're in a medical group like Kaiser. I mean, it's not BAD but it's the little things that make you feel the difference. My OB nurse at my first appointment didn't even congratulate me. How sad lol. I felt like a number to her. I had a very positive and successful experience freezing my eggs with Dr. Norian at HRC Pasadena. Josephine and the other staff were very friendly and quick to answer all my questions, and I especially appreciated Robin's help in the Rancho office. The offices are beautiful and everything was very easy from start to finish. I had a couple different coordinators throughout the process due to scheduled vacations amongst the staff, so my only complaint was that I felt the information I received wasn't consistent, and additionally my paperwork wasn't consistent between digital and paper files. The volume of patients is high and and I did feel it was a little impersonal at times, but maybe that would be different with a different procedure. That said, everything worked out in the end and I had a very successful retrieval. I would highly recommend Dr. Norian- he was professional, patient, easy to talk to and understand, and I felt like he had my best interest at hand with planning my treatment and care. Called to make an appointment for an initial consultation on 3/28/2023. The receptionist was incredibly rude, condescending and inpatient. I asked a few clarifying questions before making an appointment and her attitude was just rude. When she asked if I have anymore questions, I said no and she hang up on me!!! My assumption was that she was asking if I have additional questions and then proceed to make an appointment for me. When I called back, she claim that because I said I don't have any more questions, so she hanged up. No apologies whatsoever. Now I am concerned about the level of care this clinic provides. If the nurses or doctors are as rude as the receptionist, I am looking elsewhere. When people are researching for fertility treatments and spending lots of money, they have a lot of concerns and questions. I called to make an appointment last week (an hour before closing) and whoever picked up the phone, started running down all these promotions and specials. She talked for a good 5 minutes trying to get me to sign up with their newest doctor. Then she went to asking about my insurance. After all of that I finally had the chance to tell her why I called which had NOTHING to do with any of the promotions she rambled about for 5 mins. I asked for the latest possible appointment because I have a hectic work schedule but she kept saying the doctor would only take the first available appointment. So I tried a different day and still I got a random day times instead of something simply after 2pm. (Very frustrating!!!) So I mentioned I would try next week and said I have one more question and all I could hear was "click"...she hung up on me. No thanks for calling, hopefully we can squeeze you in next week...nothing. I called right back and the phone rang and rang, no answer. I called again, and still no answer! Then I remember looking at the time at they still had another hour before closing so I know it was intentional. Definitely not giving them my business. HFC left me a message which I couldn't reply to and today I noticed my message was flagged for being inappropriate. What's inappropriate is how I was treated. I called to get an appointment and wasn't treated kindly. And so now my original post got removed because this company can't have a bad review for the bad experience I suffered last week. read more

I am writing as my wife and I are about to start our first round of IVF in two weeks. My wife had already been a patient 3 years ago when she froze her eggs. She told me that her former coordinator (Tiffany) at the time was very responsive and supportive. This was a big reason why we came back to start IVF at the HRC this time. Over the past three months, we are grateful to have met Dr. Wilcox twice, and he has been nothing but professional and knowledgeable. performing ultrasound procedure and helping us to finalize an action plan. Also, I would say that it has been extremely fortunate that, at the start of our IVF journey, we are supported by Ms. Gladdys Caspellan, RN. We later learned that she is a team lead at HRC and has decades of experience working with patients living with infertility. During her face-to-face visit and email interactions with us, she has been attentive, responsive, thorough, extremely detail oriented, patient, knowledgeable, and compassionate. Her professionalism and competence have greatly comforted us and put us at ease as we are about to start the IVF process. I had a very positive experience at HRC. I was previously receiving IVF treatment at UCLA but a recent move required a change in clinic. My IVF specialist at the time (Dr. Quinn - who is also amazing) happened to transfer to HRC. Due to my insurance coverage, I also needed to select a new IVF specialist. Dr. Norian and Josephine made the transition very easy. Dr. Norian spent as much time as I needed during the initial consultation to understand my history and my goals for IVF. Josephine is AMAZING - she is always attentive and responsive to inquiries and made me feel part of the HRC family. The office is comfortable and the phlebotomists are all amazing! You rarely have to wait for a blood draw. I also like that the surgery center for my extraction is on the same floor as HRC which was not the case at UCLA. I am currently at the start of my second trimester as my first transfer at HRC was successful after two failed transfer attempts previously. This was my 5th cycle of IVF with 3 cycles at UCLA and 2 cycles at HRC. Sending all the positive vibes to the ladies still on their IVF journey - hang in there! read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. They did an IUI while my Tsh was close to 7. I found out later that my Tsh should have been under 2.5. Apparently they just wanted my money. Would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

My therapist said that it would be healing if I gave this place a yelp review and expressed my thoughts. I would give this place a zero if I could. Avoid this place like a plague. And the last time I posted a negative review, they had the audacity to accuse me of being a fake account. GASLIGHT MUCH? As if the first trauma wasn't bad enough, they are going to accuse their members who rate them negatively of being fake to avoid blame. As if I'm going to use my actual name on a fertility page? I had Dr. Nelson. FYI: there is no corrupt organization more money hungry than this. They neglected to tell me that I had low ovarian reserve. (I am happily with a child now thanks to another doctor) but HRC literally dragged my treatments for years and weren't forthcoming about what my issues. If you're looking to have a child, I suggest you go, anywhere else! I went to another doctor and I was able to have two children since this horrific incident with Huntington reproductive and Dr. Nelson. Do not come here, or else you will have wasted years of your life running through their maze. read more

I'm not sure if words can really express how taken care of I felt by the HRC staff. But I'll try! We went to HRC for unexplained fertility and found that IVF was the best route. Our nurse, Josephine, was patient and kind and answered every question and every email with care; even when I knew it was after hours and she might not respond, she did anyway! Even Robin and the financial staff were there to answer any question quickly. And when Josephine was out of town, the rest of the staff was there for me for every scared or confusing phone call I made! I felt like I was in good hands. Dr. Norian is so warm and kind and knowledgeable and fun when the time is right! Now that I've graduated from IVF, I wish I could just keep telling him what a good job he did. I came to HRC exactly three weeks ago for my consultation and three weeks later I have 30 eggs frozen. I am 28 years old, have PCOS, and I am starting a PhD program. A previous doctor told me I should try sooner than later to have kids because of the PCOS since I wouldn't know until I try if I would encounter fertility issues. Given that I'm not in a relationship and starting school again, the thought of when I'm going to be a mom started to worry me. When I found out my insurance covered egg freezing, I called HRC and they scheduled my consultation a week later with Dr. Guner. I chose her after reading the bios because she mentioned having interested and experience with PCOS patients. That was important to me. They also understood why I needed to start immediately. I do work in healthcare, have multiple doctor friends, and an acquaintance who went through egg freezing before so I did go prepared with questions to my consultation. I needed to find the right match and Dr. Guner did not disappoint! She explained the process to me in depth, answered all my questions, and even allowed my friend to ask questions since she came with me. Dr. Guner was at all my appointments except two. One because I couldn't wait and had to go to work and the second because they alternate weekend days. However, she made sure to connect with me after. Her email correspondence is the best. I have anxiety and ask a bunch of questions and she made sure to answer every single one. Her colleague was also great! My nurse coordinator, Desiree, was nurturing and reassured me that I'd have someone at every step of the way, and I did. She was a highlight of my visits making sure I knew what to take and what to do. Both of them shared their own experiences with me in efforts to comfort me and I appreciated that since I didn't have anyone that could relate to my symptoms and what I was feeling. A key point is that you need to trust your team, their knowledge, and that they have your best interest in mind. Not once did I feel like this was not about me and my health care needs. Their in depth explanations helped me put my care in their hands and gained my trust. I haven't gotten my out of pocket expenses but I do have an idea. I'll update that part of this review once I get it! Overall, I'm glad I got to experience the magic of Dr. Guner's and Desiree's care! read more

No compassion, no attentiveness and overall disappointment. I keep getting billed random bills due after everything was already paid. If I had to do this all over I wouldn't NOT come here. read more
