As if IVF isn't stressful and nerve racking already this team made me feel so at home and safe from the beginning. I had an amazing experience with Dr. Molly Quinn and Josephine Lai at HRC. I wanted to freeze my eggs as an option for later down the road but for me, it wasn't an easy decision to make as I was filled with anxiety about the process. Moreover, like many women, I felt that it was a deeply personal decision and even though I spoke with several friends who have done it, I still didn't know if it was for me. Once I spoke with Josephine and Dr. Quinn, I felt far more comfortable. They are both exceptional, in educating me about the process and in going above and beyond to calm my anxiety (I'm terrified of needles and of medical procedures overall). Josephine Lai is honestly the best nurse I've ever met and went through the entire process with me from beginning to end. Thinking about it makes me emotional, to be honest, because she was incredibly kind and made me feel so comfortable throughout. At the end, for me, the procedure was more of a psychological challenge than a physical one. I can't say enough great things about HRC. In particular, Dr. Kolb and Vicky. Dr. Kolb always took his time when treating me. He answered all my questions, made me feel at ease during a process that isn't easy for most of us to endure. This was my 2nd ivf treatment with Dr. Kolb. Luckily today, I have a son who will turn 2, and another on the way. Dr. Kolb made my dreams possible of having my own family. Vicky was great! She always kept me informed on all of my results, and she made it so easy when I need to order refills on medications. She took her time to sit and answer questions. My wife and I feel so fortunate to have worked with Dr. Nelson, Connie, and the rest of the HRC Pasadena team. From day 1, we felt very informed and prepared for our IUI procedure. We went in over a year before we wanted to start the baby trying process just to be prepared as much as possible (mentally, physically, and financially). From the first day meeting Dr. Nelson and the team, I began taking prenatal vitamins, CoQ10 and started eating healthier-ish. Our very first try was in Oct 2020 and it was successful! I'm now 14 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby. In case you're curious, I'm 32 years old with my first pregnancy with no known fertility issues. As an LGBTQ couple, we wanted to find a place that was very LGBTQ friendly. Most of California is friendly luckily so it wasn't too hard to find many places but we felt most comfortable here. My wife was able to hear the first heartbeat of the baby, otherwise, I did have to go it alone in the other appointments because of COVID restrictions. A couple shout outs: Connie was AMAZING and made me feel like we were family friends. The woman taking my blood each time (Russian or Polish??) she was so sweet too. My review is long long overdue. I came to HRC after three years of trying for a baby on my own. Dr. Wilcox helped us get pregnant successfully not once but twice! However, the real stars of the show are undoubtedly the staff. Everyone from the front desk to the lab are friendly and most importantly so efficient (incredibly important with all of the appointments!). Within Dr. Wilcox's team, Rachel was my primary nurse for both pregnancies and she kept me uptodate and on my toes about medications, labs, appointments etc. (Thank you!). Completely unprofessional from start to finish. Consistently dropped the ball with following up in regards to lab results, responding to emails/phone calls, and insurance prior authorizations. Staff is kind, but get the impression they are incredibly overworked and this is a fertility mill. High turnover with staff. Hard to talk to anyone directly. There is no patient care/personalization. Wasted a significant amount of time with this company. Decided to go with another specialist before starting treatment and wished we had made that decision earlier before giving them multiple chances to turn things around. Major disappointment. I was a patient with HRC only last year and now am needing my medical records from my treatment with them. I have been trying to get a hold of these records since the end of March. They have completely given me the run around and now heading into July I have still not received my medical records. I have called emailed, I have had my case managers call, email, fax these request numerous times and still no response. When I call they say they are putting in an urgent request and I receive nothing. When we last spoke to a woman named Cheryl she guaranteed she would have those records to us by Monday and still nothing and that was a month ago. I am so frustrated at this point. I would highly advise anyone seeking treatment from them whether it be as a surrogate or as intended parents or anyone that has their embryos with this medical center to think twice. They are holding out on others medical records as well and preventing families from starting their fertility journeys to have children. At this point I have to take to all review sites to explain my experience, because at this point I am not getting any help from them to simply get my medical records from my short time with this center. And again I have been trying to get them for going on 4 months now! read more

Finance team is really poor in responding to your queries. Despite multiple followups, still struggling to get my refund for a cancelled cycle for almost 3 months . They don't respond to your email or voice mails or return back to your calls. I don't recommend this place, will give negative stars for sure. Had worst experience and there are better places than this for having babies. Updated 02/22 - still waiting and no one called from Billing section. Please follow the refund policy and return my money back. Updated 02/28 - my cycle got cancelled in Nov 5th and it's almost 5 months since refund is issued. Please provide a response. read more

I went through the egg freezing process with Dr. Kolb and I had a great experience. He was very helpful with answering my questions and explaining things in a simple way that I could understand. He has a very calming demeanor which helped make this process less nerve wracking. I worked with Bayla on his team for all logistics (scheduling appts, sharing tests results, shots, etc) and she was amazinggggg!! She was always very responsive and was there for me throughout the whole process. I felt very comfortable asking her anything and she was very patient. I also worked with Vicky in their finance department who was wonderful at getting me quotes and reviewing all the fees and payment schedules etc. The facility is very beautiful and calming. I never waiting more than 10 mins every appointment I had. All their staff there are super nice, efficient and friendly. I have been with my partner for many years, however, we have not had any plans to have kids yet. After speaking to a friend who was a former patient of Dr. Kolb I have decided to freeze my eggs. During my consultation, Dr. Kolb was very informative. And explained why it is better to freeze my eggs now rather than later. He then introduced me to my nurse Rita, and my experience only got better. Rita helped coordinate my entire cycle and was more than helpful and was extremely patient with me. Dr. Kolb is fantastic! I am now pregnant the 2nd time thanks to him! We tried to get pregnant for a couple of years, and did IUI 3 times without any luck. My several miscarriages were due to my age and low quality of eggs. We then decided to go to HRC Fertility and do IVF with PGS testing. The IVF worked the first time and we now have a wonderful 2 year old. We froze the second healthy embryo (we only had 2 good ones) and I am now pregnant again, at the age of 44! Dr. Kolb is truly a miracle worker, and the coordinator Nancy is fantastic; warm and always responding to my questions in a timely matter. read more

I came in feeling lots of uncertainty however really from our first consultation with Dr. Nelson my partner and I felt comfortable, supported, and heard. His guidance and professional staff really helped navigate us through the most challenging chapter in my life. He is so knowledgeable in his field and only offered tests and procedures that would benefit my growing family. He also took the time to explain all of it to us and was open to questions. Mrs. Hernandez M.A., who was part of his staff, was ALWAYS available anytime I had any follow up questions, ensuring that Dr. Nelson's patients were well supported. Their facility is run with the most care and attention to detail. We did an IUI and later a successful IVF procedure at the age of 41 with our one and only viable embryo. I had a great experience with Dr. Guner and the USC Team ( Desiree, Pam, and Teri!). I started my fertility journey with lots of tests and each time Dr. Guner was thorough and explained to me the results of the test. I ended up trying IUI twice and then moved on to IVF. Through the process, I was always able to get a hold of the nurses and the doctor. Dr. Guner even met me on a Sunday to hand me a emergency dose of medication! The doctor patiently tracked my situation for eight months, until last month he felt that I could transfer embryos. Unfortunately, I was not mentally prepared. My husband and I went through three cycles of IVF with Dr. Wilcox at HRC Fertility. While the support staff was good and the office is well-organized, our experience overall was lacking and in particular, I would not recommend this clinic or doctor for older women who are seeking to have IVF using their own eggs. The first thing they did was create an Ovarian Assessment Report. This showed that as an older woman, my ovarian reserve was low, which meant that there was a reduced chance of success with IVF that used my own eggs. After the report was created, I met with Dr. Wilcox to discuss the results, and he immediately recommended that we use an egg donor rather than going through an egg retrieval process with my own eggs. After telling Dr. Wilcox that we weren't ready to go with an egg donor, he said that they were "willing" to try up to three rounds of IVF retrieval with me before we would need to use a donor. I also have to say that the meeting with Dr. Wilcox did not feel very supportive, and I had a pretty good cry after it was over. (It was also the *only* time throughout this whole process -- and we went through three cycles -- that either myself or my husband sat down to talk with Dr. Wilcox. Even phone calls were with his nursing staff, never with him.) Our first round of IVF initially seemed promising -- 9 eggs harvested, 6 successfully fertilized, and 3 biopsied for genetic testing on Day 6. Unfortunately all were genetically abnormal. We were heartbroken, but encouraged that we felt we had gotten close. Round 2 with Dr. Wilcox: he decided to use the same stimulation protocol, but instead of a 10,000 IU HCG trigger he had us do a 5,000 IU HCG trigger shot. When I asked why, I was told "it's something the clinic is doing for all our patients now," apparently to minimize the risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. Never mind that I didn't have any issues with that the first time, nor was I showing any symptoms for this round. Despite having a similar number of large mature follicles, only 4 eggs were retrieved during the second cycle and only one made it to biopsy. It was not genetically normal. We decided to give it one more try with HRC, thinking that it was the best clinic in town, so had a third round of IVF. They used a slightly different protocol (higher dosages of the same medications), which wasn't really explained and which I still don't understand, given that the previous cycle had looked great except for the fact that the trigger shot didn't seem to have worked well. From the third cycle we only got 5 eggs, none of which made it to biopsy. And that's where our HRC IVF journey ended. They didn't want to work with us any more unless we got an egg donor, and quite honestly we were pretty done with the place. The interactions with Dr. Wilcox (or lack thereof) were never supportive, informative, or pleasant. I could tell that it wasn't the right place for us to have a positive IVF outcome. I'm very glad that we didn't give up. We went to another clinic, and while it wasn't as convenient to get to as HRC, we had a completely different experience there. After two rounds of IVF, I became pregnant. I am now just a couple of months away from giving birth to our first child, who was conceived using my own egg. read more

Worst experience here. You're treated like cattle and a money machine to them. I found Dr Kalan and I'm so so so happy! Stay away from large commercial places that don't have empathy. This is a really hard thing to go through, not to mention the drugs and physical effects you have to do. You need a team that actually cares! read more

Dr. Llarena is the most patient Dr I have yet to work with she got back to me every time I reached out and never made me feel rushed at any appointment. No question was a dumb question and she took the time to always make sure I was ok and had what I needed. Josephine is great she Kept me on point with all my appointments and medication and explained everything about my medication in Depth.
