Highly recommend the steamed dumplings and sugar donuts, and my general tsos is always great and consistent too. They're also super fast, I usually get my food within 25 mins. Taking a star off for their delivery. Usually their drivers don't speak English, which usually wouldn't be a problem but they completely ignore the "no contact" on my delivery slips. After years of Yelping, I can sadly say I've found a need for a negative review. Since moving to Stamford I've ordered from Hua Lin anytime I needed Chinese food and can vouch for their food being good quality. However their delivery service is horrendous and having complained to the restaurant about it directly without any change, I feel my 2¢ are warranted here. Initially there were no issues having food delivered to my apartment building, but my last two orders were late and ended with calls from the driver demanding I pick the food up from him instead of delivering it to my door. If this were the policy of my building or the status quo for all deliveries I've received then I might have less of an issue with this. Further, paying a delivery fee + 20% tip makes it insulting to refuse to spend the few minutes needed to actually deliver food. In short - carry out or dine in & leave your expectations at home if you would like any semblance of service. I'll be choosing to take my business elsewhere. read more

So I've ordered from this place since we've moved to Springdale, it started out great then they started forgetting parts of my order and I still paid the original amount, take one hour and longer when they say 30 min. I called tonight to let them know they gave me the wrong item didn't include two items and charged a delivery charge and I still tipped the driver as I always do a minimum of $5 always, a young lady answered she was very pleasant, then she put the man that took my order on he wasn't happy started rambling off my order wouldn't let me talk then hung up, I called back he said I don't have time to talk I'm running a business so I talked over him to let him know I'll be reporting this to the City of Stamford. Preface note 1: Will admit, this review's star rating might be harsh, but even slept on it and it's the same. Preface note 2: Previous ventures to this restaurant were pick up orders that, all things considered, went swimmingly. Called in just after 10 pm, and being a considerate being, started by asking if I could place a delivery order, the response wasn't a yes or a no or asking for my name or address, which is typical but, "What do you want to order?" Not sure if my question was clear and not wanting to waste time or breath if it was too late to order, I asked again and the response was the same if in a slightly exasperated tone. A bit of a Comedy of Errors moment, so I continued with order. Mind you, I started the conversation by asking, not once but twice, if I could place a delivery order, so there was some surprise on my part when at the conclusion of my order the response was, "Ok, I'll be there in 30 minutes, is that all right?" "Um, do you need my address?" I asked with caution. There are some savvy restaurants that have a solid database that they build so that their customers don't have to provide their address every time they order, but one, not to be insulting, but my impression of this restaurant is that this type of system doesn't exist, and two, I belive this was my first time ordering delivery from here. My phone server chuckled depreciatingly and took my address down and then wrapped up the call again. Again with the surprise because all smoothly operating phone servers know to ask if payment will be cash or charge, so I said, "I'd like to pay by credit card...," and I was asked to hold on a moment and then my card number was taken. I forgot to ask for the total, however, I certainly appreciate it when a business provides it without prompt as a standard. "Do you need my phone number?" I ask wondering how many times I needed to do his job for him. He chuckled and said something like he could see it on his phone. Alloted time later I get a call on my phone from a New York number, figuring that this was the restaurant calling I answer, but the caller hung up as I answered. A little bit later I got another call that my phone-now car-server had arrived with my food. Knowing that my landlord so considerately provides his tenants with doorbells that aren't labeled with the apartment numbers, which is confusing, I go downstairs to the front door to meet delivery people. Except was my night-in-shining-auto awaiting me in the driveway? Oh no, he was down the hill with his car sitting in the middle of the street. Not expecting this, I had stepped out in my socks and was contemplating dashing upstairs to put on shoes when the rude [insert your expletive of choice] honked his horn! Hmmm. So I waltzed (not literally) down (literally) the driveway in my socks and stepped on the obligatory sharp pebble on the way and up to his car. Without bothering to get out of the car, he held up the receipt for me to sign. I did tip 15% not that I wanted to for, what is in my opinion, shoddy customer service, but I respect the tipping system even if I don't completely agree with it. I handed him the signed receipt forgetting to take my copy and awkwardly reached in to the open passenger's side window again to pick up the bag with my order from within his car. My peripheral vision saw him checking the tip as I turned away. I grumbled my socked foot way back up the hill and two flights of stairs to unpack my order to find that the drink I ordered was missing. I'm sure I was charged and taxed for it, not that I can confirm because of said forgotten receipt. I didn't bother calling to say something, and I'm ok with that decision, after working for 13 hours, I had little fight in me. So this little folly, while entertaining, has led me to understand why this restaurant struggles to gain a three star rating. Customer service goes a loooooong way with people and the minimum of my expectations is that the delivery person drive up the driveway and deliver the food by getting out of their car and handing it to the, eh-hem, paying customer. Any other delivery person (and I've had a few at my current address) has done this, so this is a reasonable minimum expectation. Food was mediocre, but the next time work makes dinner time be late, I'll order from the pizza joints that deliver after 10 pm. read more

I've tried every other Chinese restaurant in Stamford and other cities in Connecticut and this is the best tasting Ive had. I love the shrimp and broccoli as well as all their chicken dishes. This service is also top-notch and very friendly also. They've offered me free drinks on several occasions if an order is taking longer than expected.they also have a nice outdoor patio where you can eat when the weather is nice not a lot of places have that. I was a longtime customer of this restaurant. Adequate but nothing great. I recently had an experience that makes me never want to go back. I ordered two dishes...one a vegetarian lo mein and the other, a beef lo mein. I repeated the order several times. When I returned home from picking up the food my daughter realized that her veggie lo mein was nothing but veggies. I immediately called back and spoke to someone who seemed very young (the owner's son perhaps). He immediately began to argue with me telling me I hadn't ordered right and that it was my mistake. Complete gaslighting. No apology. Nothing. It was outrageous and showed me that my business is not worth the price of a veggie lo mein replacement. He continued to argue the ridiculous point until I said I was coming down for a refund. He then said he would replace the dish. The staff is truly friendly and the actual location has a nice and a nice and cozy dining room with a good television broadcasting local news. Conveniently located between gas stations, CVS and other businesses along Hope Street in Stamford, Hau Lin also promotes and nice sun deck outside to sit on to gather those sun rays.
