We go camping at the site every year multiple times a season. It is a great time every time. The beautiful, tall trees are majestic and the deer are even more. Each site has something great to offer by providing a fire pit and large concrete picnic table. You'll find plenty of shade as well. There are rules we tend to find out each time we come out. Don't bring pallet wood because of the nails. Sometimes they don't allow open flames including your propane stove. That just depends on wildfire risk obviously. Don't feed the deer for safety reasons. The rangers are so friendly and cool. The last time we were there he offered us firewood for a reasonable price since all we had were pallets. Great price for great wood. I almost don't want to share this information just because it's such a gem of a campsite. We don't usually have other campers around us. Should I delete this? This is great place. Lots of trees and wildlife. Winter is fantastic for snow and photography Cabins are quaint and cozy. No cell service so bring a book. read more

It's beautiful, the Hualapai Mountains are over 6000 feet, it's significantly cooler than the Kingman area. Unlike Kingman you up in the pines. Unfortunately today we were abruptly greeted by a rather rude, cash collector at the drive up window and it was a complete turn off. Decided not to pay the fee and skip it today. read more

Super friendly ranger at the ranger station. She gave us a complete lecture of the history of the park, highlighted some of the fauna and flora found in n the area. She's got glass cases with insects, bones and such. A really nice little cabinet of curiosities. We took a drive through and saw the original stone cabins and some of the later built wood cabins. They are all for rent to campers. The stone cabins have fireplaces too. It's a beautiful park and a must see if you're in the Kingman area. read more

This place is magical!! We had so much fun. It's absolutely beautiful!!! I haven't had the chance to hike yet but I'm definitely heading back ASAP. The staff at the park are always so kind and accommodating. The cabins are super amazing, you get to choose how you'd like to camp, some are equipped with all the amenities that you need for a home away from home. The wildlife is absolutely enchanting. My husband and I tent camped here for two nights while we were visiting Kingman, AZ on a roadtrip. It's a nice area to sleep under the stars. If you hear someone walking past your tent, it's probably just the elk that are checking you out :-) The bathrooms are clean and heated. The campground fee is only $17 per night if you are in a tent. The stars are free. Make sure you bring earplugs though. We had the place almost entirely to ourselves, but unfortunately somewhere on the property were some people renting one of the cabins. They had kind of big mouths and sound does carry when you are in the wilderness. read more

What a beautiful place to stay. We stayed in Cabin 11 this Labor Day weekend. Several elk came through so beautiful so big! Don't feed them!!! The cabin had everything we needed, big refrigerator, 2 burner stove nice kitchen table. But you spend your time outside here and like I said beautiful! Rangers were so nice. Definitely nice to get out of the heat. Reasonable prices to rent a cabin. read more

A beautifully charming GEM. Small campsite, DOES NOT take reservations for TENT camping, so keep in mind this place is first come, first served. We came up on a non-holiday weekend (05/19/23) drove around the campground a few times to find an open TENT spot, and found site #11. This site can accommodate 3 smaller tents (think, 2-person tent) and depending on snowmelt, we had a small stream running next to our site - the trickle of water was soothing to camp next to. Site #11 is also a short walk to the restroom with flush toilets and running water for hand washing. The ranger personally came to every site to warn of animals in the area (deer, elk, bear, and 2 types of snakes) but boy were we surprised to have a WILD COW silently show up in the night. It stopped at the stream in front of our site, had a good drink, then down the hill it sauntered off into the night. We will never forget this place, our gorgeous hike up to Aspen Peak, the critters we saw each day (mule deer, Gila woodpeckers, and Albert's squirrels) and we will be back. read more

my husband planned a trip for our family last year and the place was beautiful. the bad part about our stay was when we first got there, there was no hot water. the next morning we found mice poop everywhere. later that night, we stayed up late and saw about 3 mice in cabin 14. Luckily we only stayed for two night because I couldn't handle the mice. read more

This place is truly a gem to behold. Wife and dog and I had a great weekend here, and even got to sleep in a teepee! Lots of hiking trails, nice and clean, great to escape the heat and retreat up into the mountains among the pine trees. read more

DO NOT BELIEVE THIS SITE FOR REVIEWS!!!! I submitted a negative review less than a year ago regarding the ranger that threatened us with trespassing after we parked in an area that was supposed to be closed. We only went there because the ranger that collected payment instructed us to go there. We were not asked to move, but he instructed to leave the park completely. I went on to this site today to show a coworker who had a similar bad experience with the same park ranger and noticed that not only has my review been removed, but somehow this site shows only 11 reviews. Seems very suspicious to me. read more

Went camping here for the first time the first weekend of June 2014. Residing in Las Vegas, we are always looking for ways to escape the heat and still be close to home. How did we now know about this place years ago? I googled the area, and their county park website popped up. I was so excited to see that we could camp in a teepee! Of course there are cabins, RV and tent spots as well, but we opted to try the teepee on our first visit. There are 3 teepee spaces within the park, all only 20-30 feet walking distance to the central shower and bathroom. Our teepee had 4 cots, and they were pretty comfortable. The teepee is made out of a thick, heavy canvas, with the teepee sitting on top of a wood platform, so you aren't directly on the ground. For those that are a bit nervous about getting the full outdoor experience-the teepee 'door' can be closed by tying the canvas entryway shut. The top of the teepee is partially exposed open so you will get wet if it rains. We liked that it felt authentic. Our spot was quiet and with lots of trees and shade. The site also had your standard concrete picnic table/bench combo and firepit and BBQ areas. When you drive into the park, you're greeted by a park ranger who double checks your reservation and gives you directions if needed. You're also provided with a park map (I had them printed off their website before we left home). The ranger was very friendly and eager answer any questions we had. We drove around the different areas of the park, and saw all the cabins and camp sites available for rental. There are three main rec areas that can be reserved as well. It looked like families were enjoying the 78 degree weather by renting the rec areas for the day. Some of the rec areas had a space for horseshoes, an indoor and outdoor seating area, and a playground. We visited the Hualapai Mountain Resort, a small hotel and restaurant. We visit the general store which is a smaller but charming wooded store that stocks necessities in case you forgot anything at home. We drove around the private residence areas and were green with envy at all the nature surrounding the homes. We had to stop our vehicle more than once to let curious forest animals move out of the road. We also were approached at our campsite by two deer who came right up to us. These deer were used to approaching people, as if to ask if we had anything to eat. We shared our apples with them. As our first visit was more of a tryout visit, we are preparing even more next time, to make a day of hiking the various trails they have available. The mountain scenery is breathtaking. For arriving in under 2 hours from leaving our home, the location was convenient, beautiful, clean and the perfect little escape from the harsh desert Summer temperatures. We are in the process of booking our next trip there! read more

My husband and I stayed in one of the cabins at the park in May and really enjoyed it. The elk came right up to our porch and there was enough space between the cabins so you didn't really feel crowded. That said, there was also a wedding booked in the park (they booked every cabin but ours), which had a live band till way after quiet time, and that kind of took away from the ambiance. I do have to say though, when I complained about the incident - and told them I should have been notified and given the option to cancel - they did refund my rental fee. I look forward to going back and seeing how it is when it's actually quiet. read more

We stayed in cabin 16 which we have been for the last 10 years for a week at a time, this is the first time the cabin flooded, yes i said flooded. It had snowed which it has in the past but this time the snow was melting fast and I woke up to put more wood on the fire and stepped into 1-2" of water, half the cabin towards the fireplace was in water, anything on the floor was sopped. We complain to the ranger station and they said oh yea it occasionally will do that, we said in the last 10 years we have been coming here and the same time of year same conditions it has never done that, we said why wouldn't you just give people information like if the snow melts fast or heavy rains your cabin might leak/flood, there answer was if you would have asked does the cabin leak we would have told you. After threatening to stop payment they did reimburse 1 night stay but never said sorry for the inconvenience, needless to say that was our family's last time ever back to stay anywhere in the park. PLEASE HEAD CAUTION CABIN 16 WILL LEAK UNLESS THEY REPAIR IT !!! read more

We stopped at this campground while driving through from California. We werent originally planning on staying in kingman but due to weather and other circumstances ended up looking for a place to stay. Most of the campgrounds in kingman were either really expensive or really trashy according to reviews. This campground had some teepees, small cabins, and regular campsites. It's $17 a night for a regular campsite and we did not make reservations. We also paid an additional $2 for the dog. We showed up at 1030pm and there was no attendant but we put our money in an envelope and in the mailbox. The bathrooms were heated, clean and had supplies. I did not see or look for a shower. There were only 2 other parties in the whole campground and a handful of deer. Each site had a picnic bench and they were all clean. read more

Beautiful area. A herd of elk scared us at night. Campsites are large, bathrooms are clean. For $17, worth the stay. They also have tepees and cabins available. They have the most advanced check-in system I've ever seen at a campground: an iPad that takes credit cards. Wooo!! Do it. (Also: excellent Verizon cell service, if you're into that stuff.) read more
