I called asking about leather repair and Anne asked me to send pictures and describe what was needed. We had a seam separation and a lot of nicks in the leather. She sent my request for quote and schedule to Rachel who promptly replied on estimates and dates Isaac arrived on time covered all exposed flooring and started stitching and inspecting the 3 chairs. We called Hub Leather after seeing their work online. We had a 10 year old leather sofa that was dried out, worn, and recently stained, and we were wondering if they could restore it. The person that answered the phone (Rachel) was super friendly and said that it sounded like something they could fix, but she requested that I upload some photos through their website. The next day Rachel called back and confirmed that it was a good candidate for restoration. She booked me for an in house appointment the following Thursday, and said that Bryan would arrive between 9-11AM. Bryan arrived at 10 and came in to inspect the sofa. After confirming it was worth restoring, he brought in his gear and got to work. He started by treating the stain, using products to extract the mark. He also sanded the entire sofa. Over the next 4-5 hours he sanded, moisturized, dyed, and massaged/stretched the leather. It was amazing to watch him work and see the care and attention that he put into the process. He clearly knows what he is doing. After taking a short break to allow things to rest, he finished the piece with some microcrystalline wax. The results were truly amazing. The stain was gone and the sofa looked like new. Although it wasn't cheap, it was well worth the cost. The total was on the low end of the estimate and was about 1/3-1/4 the cost of a new sofa. We felt really good about the decision to use Hub Leather for the restoration, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to others. On top of the amazing job, we would like to also compliment Byran for being a really nice and interesting person. He arrived promptly and went through the process of what he would be doing with me to see if I had any questions. He placed drop cloths over my rug and floor and proceeded with the repair. I recently moved from a small brownstone apt in Beacon Hill to a much larger place. I hired a professional service to disassemble my leather sofa for the move. Suffice it to say, they did an awful job re-assembling the sofa and to make matters worse, we did a fair amount of damage ourselves just moving it. So I called one leather repair shop in Boston and they offered to completely alter the sofa to "hide" the damage. What's more, they quoted me a price of $850. The quality of the work this place does is phenomenal, and the service is even beyond that. We have a Danish modern brown leather sofa that was looking quite worn out. Miguel and Bryan came to our place and did a huge amount of handwork on it and brought it entirely back to life. They also cut foam to support the droopy feather cushions. Both the leather treatment and the cushions worked great--they really, really know what they're doing. The sofa looks like it just came out of a high-end store from fifty or sixty years ago. Here's where Bryan went above and beyond. After they left, we noticed a structural issue underneath the sofa at the floor line that we hadn't seen before, and thought maybe they knocked something a bit out of whack. Bryan came back, and we had a look--it was clear this couldn't have happened from anything they did. But Bryan brought out his tools and fixed the issue anyway, for no charge! He knows furniture, in other words, beyond just the leather. And he has guys working with him who can address more serious upholstery and structural problems if you need them. In this case, we didn't--he did it all himself. I've had some very good experiences with craftsmen and other skilled people in this area, and some bad ones too. But Bryan and co. are above and beyond the best. I just can't praise their professionalism and know-how enough. Brian did an amazing job with our couch. We had a 5 year old couch with some normal wear and tear and a stain from dye running from new jeans. He was able to get the couch back to looking brand new. As other reviewers have said, it was a little difficult to make initial contact and get the cleaning scheduled. To me, that is acceptable and expected when someone does work of this quality. Once the appointment was set, the high expectations I had from reading reviews here on Yelp were exceeded, and the work was done even sooner than I expected. If you have nice leather furniture in need of some rejuvenation, you will not top the quality of Brian's work.
