How lucky are we to have this fabulous family owned business near our home! Our first project with them was to recover all our dining room chairs. We brought photos of the room, the rug, etc...and they were so helpful in choosing a fabric that brightened up the room! Our second recent project was an 1800's Victorian Corner Chair that was in the attic for years. I emailed Barry photos and he emailed right back with suggestions (to not refinish the wood as to keep the original patina) and a quote. We brought in the chair and Toni brought out various samples to choose from. The orignial silk was a teal/blue and she assisted us in finding a beautiful fabric. The chair was polished and looks just gorgeous. This family has the knowledge, the eye and the professionalism you need! And they are very responsive and super friendly. I love the custom shop! I have a very particular family who didn't want to replace the beat up comfy chairs in the corner, they wanted to get the exact same chairs back.... The associates of the custom shop advised that since the frame is still in good quality, then this would be fine to do (these were originally very expensive chairs 10+ years ago) Custom Shop team were amazing, helping me understand the process and timelines, and then helping me find the perfect fabric. I needed a combination of durability with softness and a luxury feel. I think we went through every book of neutrals they had. The fabric selection was extensive, and I got exactly what I wanted! The timing was fine as well, taking only a couple weeks to do the work. they also readily offer pick up and delivery for a small fee, so one less thing to worry about. I will definitely go back to them when I need to reupholster my dining room chairs. I have to say that I needed to think twice about doing a custom job as opposed to just buying a new chair because the price is quite similar, but the work was really top notch, and I am getting a brand new piece of quality furniture made with the exact fabric and firmness i want! This was my first experience with any kind of furniture reupholstering, and the Custom Shop did a splendid job with replacing the soft and mouldering seat cushion of the Tall Man's beloved armchair. The chair itself is only a few years old, but the cheap stuffing had turned to mush. I've passed this unassuming shop many times while driving through Watertown, but this was the first time stepping into their drapery oasis. Toni was incredibly helpful and straight forward with assessing the original cushion and giving us recommendations on everything from firmness levels, foam quality, to advising how we could assess the existing seat foundation for longevity. She was frank, and I never felt like she was trying to upsell us. After trying out different cushions, we decided on a high density foam replacement (I think without carcinogenic flame retardants, a plus). It was a busy season so the lead time was 4-6 weeks, but we ended up getting the restuffed cushion back in just under 4 weeks. I don't have any "before and after" photos, but suffice to say that the Tall Man is now reveling in the firm comfort of his refreshed favorite chair. We're now considering going back to the shop in the next year or so to restuff our couch cushions. Highly recommend! read more

Superb service. I drove to Watertown to ask if someone could make Roman shades for my kitchen. I had my own fabric so just needed to have someone make the shades and install them. Team was very responsive and super knowledgeable. I don't really know about pricing because I didn't shop around too much, but for what I received as the final product, I'd say the pricing is commensurate with quality. The whole project took about four weeks: from my initial venture to the store to installation. I'd say that's pretty great! I would recommend this shop for your custom Roman shades. read more

I had washed the sofa cushion covers. I did not put them in the dryer. As soon as I took them out of the washing machine, I could see they had shrunk. This was a great sofa, that was my grandma's -- it has down cushions and I love it. I had had it re-upholstered more than 30 years ago, but couldn't spend the $ to recover the whole thing, now. So, I went in search of a place with fabric I could choose to go with the rest of the sofa. This is not easy -- nobody has that exact fabric, and aside from that, it has faded. Toni and the rest of the shop were great. They taught me a bit about fabrics, and about measuring the sofa properly, let me take some sample books home, and were patient while I dithered about color. The work is very well done. The new cushion covers are on the cushions, on the sofa, which is back to its very comfy feel. I think my late mum and late grandma would like it. Phew. Some day, I'll recover the rest of the sofa. read more

They made new cushions for my mom's 20 year old stickley couch that I had contemplated getting rid of because the cushions were so uncomfortable. Again, never showed up for their payment review on 8-29-22 in Waltham District Court. Not only do they perform shoddy work; they then won't own up to their responsibilities. They have a judgment against them that they are ignoring. NEXT, a sheriff will be sent to collect. they won't even response to the district court. I'm amazed that other people aren't as displeased with them as I am. I had hoped the girls were more honorable than Barry who handled this repair. read more
