His room had a view overlooking the river and wonderful flowers. I was impressed with the appearance and feel of the room. Unlike a hospital which is dark, cramped, and has an uneasy feel, the rooms in the hospice were spacious, warm, and comfortable. The colors were pleasing, there was room for the family to sit at a table, a pull out sofa, and multiple chairs. The staff was incredible. In addition to taking excellent care of my grandfather, they took care of the family. If the door was closed they always knocked first. When they checked and asked If they needed to get anything for him, they asked if we needed anything. The hospice has a large kitchen area that provides a snacks, lunch meat, tea, etc. for the family. They also provide a soup lunch daily. I was with the family for three days and we always tried the soup. It was excellent and quickly became a favorite of my grandmother. It takes a special person to work in hospice care. The experience was difficult going through it once; I cannot imagine doing that on a daily basis with multiple patients. I am thankful there are those who do it and provide wonderful care to the family and patients.

She received two physical therapies every week day and gained her strength back to be able to function on her own. The food was usually very good per my sister. The only problem I saw was the physical therapy people coming in while my sister was eating her lunch or breakfast and telling her it was time to work out. My sister is so underweight that she should never be made to miss a meal. The therapist told her that if she refused PT, she would be written up and insurance may not pay. She started having food delivered so that she could eat when she wanted and be ready when they came for her.

The place really cares…read more Lots of activities in the activity rooms. Reading rooms. There's a barber/stylists upstairs. Holiday dinners and special events. Sometimes trips to stores or movies, depending on tenant. My grandmother needs special care and they always make sure she's comfortable. And she's made friends and seems to really enjoy herself.

The bathroom, shared with another patient, was inoperable and never repaired during her stay. The room was extremely dirty, our feet stuck to the floor from the dirt. When our mother needed assistance, as she couldn't walk or get out of bed, she would repeatedly ring for help, only to wait for up to 3-4 hours for someone to come clean her. This was particularly frustrating at night when the facility was understaffed and unable to adequately care for the patients. She was supposed to be showered twice a week and in 25 days she received only 3 showers. The only positive aspect of her stay was the quality of the food provided. The staff they had tried to provide help but were so understaffed they could not care for all the patients, Corporate needs to provide staff that is needed to care for patients properly.

The goal was for her to strengthen herself in order to return home to her beloved grand-cat. She worked with physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy (swallowing issues). This group of therapists were so helpful in teaching mom safety and strengthening exercises that have helped her return home. They were so encouraging to her and so supportive to me during her stay with them and she "graduated" to come home yesterday. Their employees are so friendly and offered constant encouragement for my mother and myself. They have multiple disciplines of employees that cover such a range of care and personal needs. Each employee and their roles are important for the overall success rate of improvement and healing. Of course the patient has to cooperate and be motivated. Mom was very motivated and focused on her end goal. She also formed bonds with some of the CNA's and nursing staff. There were a few issues that came up. I advised Bobbie Jordan who serves as Guest Services Director of the issues and they were quickly addressed and resolved. Staff treated my mother with kindness and dignity. I feel both are a major factors to her recovery. I would recommend this facility to others for the care and treatment of their loved ones. Thanks go out to each and every employee/staff that played a role to help her achieve her goal of returning home.

I can't begin to imagine the strength and willpower that it takes to care for a person in their final moments of life. I've always said that it takes a special kind of person to do certain jobs, and caring for the sick is at the top of my list. I hope you guys realize that you aren't ordinary people, you're the closest thing we have to angels on Earth. The world is a messed up place, if it were up to me, the millions of dollars that athletes and politicians make would go to the military, doctors, nurses, EMT's, Police, and firefighters. I know he wasn't able to tell you, but I know my uncle was so thankful that you took away the pain he was feeling and cared for him.
