Sheltered Nook On Tillamook Bay - Loft in House #1

Would have been nice to be told when we checked in at 2:45 pm. that they we're running later than the 20 minutes we were originally told. So we'll be having a conversation about check in and out times. Yes, the cleaning crew has extra duties do to Covid-19. Not my problem! I was told check in is at 3:00 pm not 3:43. So waiting almost three quarters of an hour to get into our rental wasn't that bad. The grounds are awesome. Lots of cool plants. Chickens and Duck's running around. A couple awesome Dogs that are very friendly. Each T. H. is different but they all have BBQ'S. our bbq is a tad rusty inside but it look's usable. There used to be a Disc Gllf Course here but its been turned into an Event Space. I don't know when the change was made but I saw pics from 2018. The loft is a low ceiling and the bedroom is a little cramped but still pretty awesome for a T.H. The Bathroom is good sized. I was pleasantly surprised at it's size. I really like all the wood interior. Really charming. The Kitchen isn't huge but definitely Full Size. A 10 Gallon Hot Water Tank gives you about a 10 minute shower, so no lounging. Covid-19 is still among us so most of Oregon is still in lock-down. Most businesses are closed and there'll be No Fireworks this year but the weather is decent and were at the coast. Worth it! I needed this weekend. I just got laid off to join the 1 in 3 Americans who are unemployed currently. I'll take a siesta and get another J. O. B. So, for now, I'm going to enjoy this weekend with my family.

Wow! What an amazing place! I feel privileged that we are able to have this so close to Portland…read more What an amazing and unique experience. This was a first class experience from top to bottom. My expectations were high and they were exceeded. The advance information sent before our arrival Was extremely thorough to provide the confidence that we were dialed in for this new experience. We checked in at the welcome dome on the lower level that is about 100 yards off the road on a gravel road. It's spacious with cool merch available. We were warmly welcomed and guided up to our mirrored cabin. It's a pretty steep gravel road up. It was fine in our AWD car and there were 2WD cars up there too so you can do it! Zack gave us a brief tour of the cabin to be sure we were aware of all the functionality. The check-in dome closes at 9pm and they leave for the night. Zack also provided his cell phone for any needs. The cabin was actually slightly bigger than my expectation. I loved the minimalistic design that keeps it from feeling crowded and optimized everything for the floor-to-ceiling views. There are motorized blinds if desired but we didn't use them as they were unnecessary. We stayed in #25 Madrone on the end which in my opinion is the best one as you don't see any of the others when inside. This makes you feel like you're the only one here. One of my surprises was how QUIET it was! You can barely even hear the ocean. It feels like it's almost sound proof. There is a single openable window that opens to the parking area at the head of the bed. This is nice for natural air flow and to allow more of the ambient sounds into the space. There is Starlink internet at 11mbps up and down which was nice as there is no cell service here (T-Mobile). There is also no TV provided which I appreciated as that's not why I'm here. My "TV" were the amazing views. But I mention that for awareness so that you're not surprised. There is a mini-fridge and artisanal coffee/tea and a hot pot. There are USB-C outlets to charge your devices too. There is a mini-split AC unit and the heat is in the floors which is delightful. The views to the ocean are spectacular. The bed is firm but comfortable and the pillows are plentiful and luxuriously perfect. They fire up a central fire pit with real wood during the golden hour before sunset. The restaurants and beaches are a short drive away which provides the best of both worlds. This place checks all the boxes. I rarely give 5-star reviews, but this one knocks it out of the park. If you're looking for a secluded and peaceful retreat, this is the one! What a special treat! Thanks Zack and team!
