Given good ammo to go out and car shop without getting ripped off-by having their terms in your hand to start with. Don't see myself leaving them so far. read more

Awful awful ATM and Bank!! Let me tell you I was trying to deposit a little over 1,400 ! 1,435.00 to be exact!! Unfortunately the supermarket gave me almost 1,200 in (5.00 bills) at 6pm we start the deposit. ATM allowed on 50 bills at a time so every few hundred dollars I would deposit, get a receipt,and continue. Well after 800.00 the ATM jams doesn't give a receipt for the money the machine has ($425.00) there's no one to talk At HVFC after 8pm. So as I'm freaking out over the ATM that has my money but unaccounted for in my account I had to wait for 9 am to speak to rep after rep transfer after transfer bc no one is aware of who I should be speaking with. Finally the right CSRep tells me I have to wait 1 week while the ATM gets audited. In the mean time I will receive a "Provisional Credit" well a week goes by and I check my account, the provisional Credit wasn't credited and the audit isn't complete.!!! After a few choice words G I received the "PC" but the audit I have to wait. The 1 ATM that HVFCU has in Carmel is taking over 11 days to count ! The ATM is located inside of the banks lobby and yet 11 days later the audits not complete!! Very frustrating wondering what's happening with the my money !! Finally Day 16 I get a call asking " how much money was lost in the ATM" when I tell her it's a $435.00 she begins to apologize bc the audit only found 385.00 !! Well where's the rest??? Who do I argue with??? So bc I can't I hang up frustrated!! I have found money at Wells Fargo ATM $980.00 and turned the money in they said "thank You God Bless You" Makes me wonder if they gave it to its rightful owner bc HVFCU definitely didn't give me my money!! I've been a member with this bank for 3-4 years. They are absolutely great. It's a convenient location found in great areas around the Hudson valley. If I'm not in my hometown and I'm looking for a bank I can easily find one. They have tons of ATMs at various locations that don't charge you for withdrawing money. The staff is friendly and helpful. They are fast paced so you don't end up spending hours at the bank for no reason. I've never had problems using this bank. They don't charge you for being a member thank God because that's kind of ridiculous. Unlike chase bank you can have a minimum of 5$ in your savings account vs other banks that want you to keep $100 or over in your account. I do believe when you charge you card their $35 fee is a little much, but I don't see it as that big of a deal. read more

Let me preface this by saying I have been a member of this credit union for 15+ years. I have recently had an incident that has left a sour taste in my mouth. We have had 3-4 loans with this credit union and have paid off all ON TIME or ahead of time. About 1+ years ago we opened a readi-cash line of credit of $15,000. Simultaneously we had a $8,000 personal loan. All paid ON TIME every month. Let me emphasize NEVER once were we late on readi-cash or any loans we have ever had at this credit union. Honestly, because of other personal issues we fell behind on outside credit cards. Never impacting any HVFCU funds. We were coming into a large amount of money scheduled to arrive November 15th. On November 15th, those funds arrived. At 0812 in the morning I immediately made a transfer to cover $14,872 for the full amount of the readi-cash and paid off the full amount of the loan, which was another $6700+. Our sole reason to pay off the readi-cash was to have the "cushion" of those funds for future emergencies. What we didn't know was that effective November 10th, the readi-cash account was closed. There were no emails, phone calls or anything else on November 10th advising us the account was closed. We finally received a written letter on November 16th, stating the account was closed. When I went into the local branch to discuss this issue, I was met with "let me get back to you because the department that handles this issue is closed". The next day I received a call back from the same assistant manager stating the department that handled this issue wished to speak to me directly. When I called this particular department, I was met with due to "lack of manpower", by law we must send you a letter. Oh so you send out tons of promotional emails but you couldn't email me on something this important? You have 3 contact numbers for me but no one could pick up a phone and call one of us? We don't have the manpower to do that type of notification. I asked for one of two things: Return the $14,000 payment or re-open the readi-cash account. The answer to both was an abrupt NO, almost as though she was laughing about my request. In the 12:56 conversation I was met with no apathy, compassion or urgency with my explanation which I will not divulge here, but it is related to Hurricane Maria. This goes to show you that no matter how long you have been a customer of a particular bank it does not matter. Remember, never once late, in arrears on ANY loans or readi-cash payments EVER. read more

My mother was approved for a loan to redo her kitchen, she went into our local branch to sign paperwork. My mom is Costa Rican, she has an accent but she speaks perfect English and has been an American citizen for at least fifteen years now. When she got to the front desk, she said she was there to talk about her loan. The man at the front desk told her that that must've been a mistake because they're no longer approving loans for "non-residents." He then went to the back and had a less than private conversation with another white employee about a Hispanic trying to get a loan. And that employee came out and asked my mother how she even manages to file taxes as a non-resident. My mom calmly explained she is a resident, and then went and cried in her car because was publicly humiliated by two bank employees. They didn't even take her into an office to question her legal status. They had a very loud conversation about it in the main lobby. Absolutely disgusting. These employees should be ashamed. And also, probably fired since they're clearly racists. read more

I have no problems with the type of accounts offered, branch availability, hours, rates or the staff. It's dissapointing that the e-banking website is absolutely awful. They need to have someone after 5pm that can re-set business bill pay. I will most likely shop around and possibly move my business account, it's just too much of a hassle to deal with. read more

I love this branch. The staff is professional, friendly and knowledgeable. I hardly ever have to wait in line for an available teller. I've used other branches of HVFCU on occasion, and the Carmel office is by far the best for customer service. read more
