I moved to Cleveland from Metro Detroit where there is a plethora of amazing Vietnamese restaurants and I've yet to find a good one here. I went to Kent for an adventure, found Hue Banh Mi & Pho on Yelp! so I gave it a go. When I walked through the door I knew the food was going to be good because it smelled like I was in the kitchen hovering over fresh cut veg, fish sauce and lime. Yum. I got two pork banh mi and summer rolls. I ate half a sandwich and one roll at a nearby park and had the other half for dinner when I got home. The bread was perfect--crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The veg was crisp and refreshing and the pork delicious, tender and moist. The summer roll was good, peanut sauce was perfect and I got a side of nước chấm so I could double dip. I had the second sandwich for breakfast.* I happily saw they put mayo on the banh mi so I asked for none and they made it without. Yay or otherwise yuk. I will make a special 55 minute trip to eat here again. *I go between Detroit and Cleveland on the regular so I usually get a banh mi for the road and one for the next day. Hear me out--deconstruct the sandwich and wrap the veg in a moist paper towel and seal in a glass jar. Store the bread in the paper bag it came in and put the meat away as you normally would. The next day wet the paper bag and put the bread in the oven for about 5 mins. Reheat the meat on the stove top, reassemble and enjoy. read more

A banh mi spot that punches way above its weight. Stopped in during a cross country drive and it was well worth it. The lemongrass chicken was perfectly cooked. The carrots and jalapenos were fresh. The baguette was both slightly crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. This would be a solid 4 in NYC. In Kent, OH... it's a well deserved 5 stars. read more

Omg what a hidden gem! This place is amazing. Staff was great. Location is smaller so mainly take out but there are 2 tables to sit at. Super clean and the space was cooled. No public restrooms though. Food was amazing. I ordered the special pho and my partner ordered the beef pho. Flavorful! Tons of toppings for it. Everything was nicely packaged even though we sat in and ate. They even asked if we wanted cooked beef (because some people don't like seeing the raw beef). I got a Viet iced coffee with condensed milk to drink. Overall, they really take the time to provide quality take out. Food was great and service was great. Will definitely be coming back! read more

Great service from the gentleman that was there when I picked up. He was fast and repeated my order back to me which is important due to a peanut allergy. Place is also very clean. Got the pork and shrimp vermicelli and it was delicious. The spicy fish sauce served with it is also great. read more

I have been to many many vietnamese restaurants in and around the Kent around. As well as Cleveland and the restaurants there are pretty good. BUT, this place Hue Cafe in Kent is amazing! This is the best Pho I've had! I ordered around 1:00pm and it was ready by 1:15pm. I ordered the spring rolls and pho with meatballs and beef slices. They also give you an option of having the beef cooked or raw I choose cooked. The spring rolls are big and i love the chili sauce it comes with. The pho broth had so much flavor and lots of noodles and meat. Now i picked my food up about 30 mins late because i was running errands. When i picked up my food it was ready and hot. Everything was packed so neat and tight. The broth was in a separate container, the spring rolls were in a nice container too. The toppings like the bean sprouts and onion etc where in a to go box and put in a plastic bag to keep them fresh! Everything was fresh and ready to eat and it is delicious! I highly recommend and I will be going back very soon! Don't go to Pho King, there broth has no flavor and barely any noodles. I love Hue Cafe!!! read more

The pho was delicious! The bahn mi...bipolar. The first half of the sandwich was lacking in flavor and too creamy and the other half of the sandwich was great. I guess it was just made haphazardly. Took my dad here for dinner. Best pho I have had since I lived in DC. Plenty of toppings, all separated for preference. Lots of noodles and meat and the base was VERY flavorful and not too salty. We had the A1 Summer Rolls, very fresh and good sized. Peanut sauce was tasty! We had 2x P2 Pho and the BM3 Grilled Pork Banh Mi. It is a takeout place mostly but has 2 small tables we ate at. KSU is so fortunate to have this authentic Vietnamese eatery right at its doorstep! On our trip back to Connecticut coming out of Chicago, I looked for interesting eats midpoint around Akron and chose Hue Banh Mi. We were not disappointed - our banh mi rolls were crunchy and chewy with generous portions of well seasoned meat and fresh vegetables. We were fully satiated after making no food stops from the Windy City. Service was friendly and attentive. We made a little mess at our table as bits of bread crust that we could not catch with our mouths were strewn on the table and floor. Really fresh and really tasty food. Not sure what else to say other than fantastic; good portions, really clean tasting (if you know what I mean - not overly oily, not funky, etc.). Just something that I, at least, could eat pretty much weekly. So highest marks from an ex-glorified-cook and his spouse. The food is authentic Vietnamese. It's delicious. We ordered 3 appetizers, 3 sandwiches, and a bowl of pho. I never stopped at this place until yesterday because I'm leery of the "Vietnamese" places that don't serve real Vietnamese food. One "famous" owner even stated that he is only concerned about white Americans tastes and not Vietnamese. He lost virtually all of his Vietnamese clientele. I will be back here trying more of the menu at Hue Banh Mi & Pho Cafe. I hope they stick around because the food is good! read more
