Kelly is the absolute best. I love that although she is open to ideas and whatever I want, she doesn't grill me I can say "like you did last time" or "let's go darker" and she just nails it. (I want a stylist who knows what looks good and helps me get there.) I can't say enough good about her- she trains other stylists in the US on what is trending. Despite her qualifications her prices are very reasonable! It is upscale and clean- try their lemonade infused ice when you get a water- it's awesome. There are always an assortment of cookies and candies, a great magazine spread, and an upbeat vibe as well. I originally came to her to fix a color after a great recommendation from a friend- and I will never leave- I leave looking fresh and on trend. She is also amazing at cutting bangs- it sounds silly but not all trims elsewhere are created equal- am always so excited at her technique. I even get compliments on them from cute waiters when I am out with my husband- lol. It's the small stuff. There are other great stylists I haven't tried there with clientele of all ages. It's a beautiful salon and -- in a great plaza with plenty of parking. don't forget to bring change to tip the washers, I always do and have to get change or hit up their atm. read more

Their colorists were very attached to one particular product line, which might be fine for all else but it sadly fell short of achieving what I sought. I brought very specific reference images of what I wanted and I wasn't told that my expectations were unfeasible in any way, however, when they were done, and after a 3 figure bill, my hair looked nothing like what we had discussed. Their failure in achieving results and failure to manage client's expectations is absurd for a salon that makes such high claims. I was also disappointed with their blowout. My takeaway is that this salon caters to a very culturally homogenous population, and is simply unable to cater to a more diverse clientele. read more

Really love this salon and I am NOT by any means a "salon" person. We've all had traumatic salon experiences in Boca, leaving unsatisfied and $300 poorer. No? Ok maybe that's just me. This salon, though located in the heart of Boca salon snobbery and hella competition, stands out for its genuinely nice and talented staff. I prefer to go to Vanessa because I trust her with my color and she has great style. I went to her with really damaged patchy medium brown hair and she did an amazing ombré on me. She darkened my roots with a beautiful deep brown with hues of purple and made the color gradually transition to blonde at the ends. She always writes down the colors she blends to use in the future, but my color lasted months without fading into a funky color. She's really receptive during the consultation which is huge for me because I can sometimes be vague about describing what I want and Vanessa seems to know exactly what's best for my hair. She keeps it simple and is very considerate and friendly with all of her clients. This place also has a brow and make-up stylist. I've never had my brows or makeup done here but I've seen photos of people who have and they seem to do a really good job. The prices are a little high for me which is why I can't personally give it 5 stars but I think the prices are standard Boca salon prices (ladies haircut starts at $55 and a blowout for short hair is $30 just to give you an idea). I've never walked away unsatisfied from this salon so I think the cost is worth it. read more

Yesterday was my first experience at Hue Hairdressing. After a bad coloring and highlighting job in my already very damaged and weakened hair, 3 hours later I walked out feeling great about my hair again!!! Kelly was awesome and she got the perfect color I had been looking for the past couple of months! Sara styled my hair and cut my already sensitive and damaged hair. Finally, Eric was the icing on the cake! He worked with me designing very meticulously what he called my already perfect eyebrows. He did an amazing job with my eyebrows and makeup. Came here for the first time and had my color updated by Micheal. He was very nice and did a great job. Four weeks later the color is still looking good. Will be going back. Update: Went back for a second color. Still pleased with the color. It 's the other elements of the experience I had a problem with. First I had secheduled (many weeks in advance) a color and blow out. The blow out was supposed to be done by a stylist not the colorist. Well they somehow didn't schedule the stylist and she left. So the colorist had to dry my hair. He is a great colorist but the way he dried and styled my hair was not so great. He was all over the place... drying a bit here and a bit there very disorginaized and leavingparts of the hair moist (which results in frizz). I've never had that happen ever. Then he ironed my hair and it just looked very odd especially around the bangs. To top it off they charged $45 for just the blow out. WOW, was not expecting that. May go back for color touch up but will never have them style my hair again. For $50 I expect the style to at least look better than what I can do at home. I was visiting from overseas and knew that I would need to color my hair at some point because I was here for the month. I confess that I was somewhat terrified; you see, I have spent much of the last 2 years working with my stylist overseas to slowly bring my color to a light brown. And while I had always been successful with boxed OTC products in the US in the past I didn't want to risk getting it wrong after so much time and effort. So I went to my mother's hairdresser who she has for years raved about and told her very specifically that I did not want to go darker. The results were absolutely disastrous; almost pitch black in the front of my head and then lighter toward the back. And my hair was like straw. Worse yet, I was going to be at a family wedding in 4 days from now, seeing family I have not seen in years. So after a good cry and feeling frustrated beyond words I started searching for a good colorist in the area to see if maybe, just maybe, she could somehow fix this mess. I ended up going to Kelly from Hue after carefully reading through dozens of reviews. Still I had a pit in my stomach and was just praying it would not be even worse when she got done. Kelly is, as everyone reported, an artist, a miracle worker, the consummate professional, incredibly knowledgeable and so so talented at hair color (and repair of messes). She is attentive and honest. In fact, everyone in the shop was wonderful. I absolutely love my new color!!!!! I cannot begin to describe how relieved I am. I started going to Hue whenever I visited my parents on holiday from school--I was a HUGE fan of Piper, because she worked miracles with my crazy, long, curly hair. (I ended up with a short, straight bob, and I haven't looked back.) When I moved back home recently, I was really disappointed to learn that Piper had left, and that the whole Hue family seemed to have changed in the few months since I'd been gone. However, because I was a student & attempting to live in NYC on student prices, I'd obtained a haircut from hell in the city, and I needed help NOW. So I stayed. Thank goodness I did--I've been working with Gigi for almost four months now, and i cannot tell you how grateful I am to her. She not only salvaged what was left of my hair, but she's been patiently working with it to sculpt it back into something pride-worthy. Not only that, but she's also one of the sweetest gals I've met down here. I wrote a review about Hue here on Yelp after my first visit back in August... This past week I went back for the third time! Needless to say I love it there! So here's an update of my last two experiences with Hue- My first haircut by Sarah was amazing and lasted a very long time. Nearing Thanksgiving I knew I needed a little color to add some pizzazz to my hair before visiting some family and I wanted to also spruce up the cut. I waited until the last minute (the day I was leaving) to call in and see if I could get myself a last minute color and cut. To my dismay, Sarah was unavailable. However, they were able to get me right in for a color with Michael, and squeeze me in later for a cut by Gigi. Once again, Hue AMAZED me. Michael delivered exactly what I wanted from him in color, was quick, and was great to gab with. The color looked so natural and rich, and the weeks following I received many compliments on it. I would never be nervous to let him color my hair! Later I came back for my cut with Gigi, who is absolutely fantastic! The cut she gave me was spectacular and made my hair easy to style smooth or curly. She is very kind and pays tremendous attention to detail. She is confident in what she does without being overly pushy with her own concepts. I also felt that she was honest when telling me what she thought would or wouldn't look good on me. I'd like to take a few sentences to praise the rest of the staff at Hue- especially the girl who washed my hair and brought me refreshments. I wish I could remember her name- it started with an 'S' I believe. Anyway, she was very kind and fitted in well with the rest of Hue's talented team. This same visit I also met Michelle, the owner. She is amazing and I give her my upmost thanks for putting together such a stellar team and giving us Hue. It is a special thing to give someone such a wonderful service experience that they feel glowy and beautiful when walking out the door! And finally I will describe my last visit this week- WOW!!! Staying true to my last minute form, I called day of hoping to secure Michael to recolor my hair, and then either Gigi or Sarah, both of whom I was pleased with. Well, one outta two ain't bad! I did manage to get Gigi, but Michael was booked for the day. Not having a bad experience thus far, I went ahead and took a color appointment with Kelly. So I went in, put on a robe (they have available to protect your clothes), received a lovely glass of water with lemon cubes, and sat down for my consult with Kelly. I just wanted to go a bit darker without getting red, brassy tones, which she accomplished with ease. I am very happy with the color! It looks very natural and makes my eyes pop! She also helped me pick out product that really is helping keep my color better! Then I went to wonder-woman Gigi. I am letting my hair grow longer, so my main focus was to try bangs. Very scary prospect (didn't want something too blunt or cutain-ish), but I was looking for a change and had faith in Gigi's capabilities. Beautiful results! I feel she can do no wrong! Honestly, if you are looking for great hair at an affordable price, head over to Hue! You won't be disappointed! I have faith in everyone there and would be happy to let any of them touch my tresses! Kelly is phenomenal! I had been going to her for about a year before I moved up north. I was always extremely pleased with her work. She is knowledgeable, meticulous, and a perfectionist and knows exactly what she's doing. The color is always beautiful and natural. I have gotten multiple compliments since I started seeing her. After moving to Boston I had a horrible experience with a beauty school who bleached my hair to a monotone, platinum color which looked fake and orangey/yellow. I've been to a few Boca hair salons like DorJon and Green Room, but this was my first time at Hue. At other salons, I would be satisfied with the few weeks after the haircut, but the manageability just wouldn't stay past then. I went into Hue with an open mind, considering all of the positive Yelp reviews. I had washed my hair earlier, so I didn't get it washed there. Joshua was my stylist, and he asked what I was looking for and what I usually do. My number one priority is manageability- I don't put products in my hair or use heat- so I was mostly looking to cut my hair until it was healthy, and to work with my curls because I like to wear it curly. He worked his magic on my hair and I loved the final result, but figured after a couple weeks that the ability to run my fingers through my hair would be hindered by knots, as usual. I went off to Chicago for a few weeks and, miraculously, my hair isn't knotting up like it used to! It's been almost a month and I'm still loving it. I even got a handwritten note from Joshua in the mail, and later a call from Hue asking how I felt about their services. The next time I'm in need of a haircut while in Boca, I'm definitely returning to Hue. read more

I just left and I'm in my car crying in the parking lot so I believe this constitutes an immediate review. Jamie/Janie spent time with me giving me layers which is fine except I TRIED to convince her that I wanted some blunt layers around my WHOLE HEAD not just framing my face because I like it better than that angles/typical layers look. She clearly did not agree with my haircut choice and gave me the same boring long layers most hairdressers do. Then when I showed her with my hands if she would continue the shortest layer around my whole head she complains that it would be a completely different haircut and she would have to wet my hair again and it would take more time to start all over. Completely different than what I asked for when I got here?!?! This is when I had to let her finish whatever SHE WANTED TO DO. She should have not told me ok when I said I wanted layers around my whole head but now you tell me it's a completely different look. I was so freaking upset and she knew it. She said to go home and style it before I decide I don't like it. I asked her "how much more is it to use the curling iron on my hair to style it and make it look like something?" and she said verbatim "no one has ever asked me that before." seriously no one has ever had you style their hair? She should have styled it to show me *how awesome her skills are* considering **I offered to pay her to make this look like something** I took off the cape thing, paid my tab and immediately scheduled an appointment to have her give me the haircut I paid for. Hopefully the manager will read this and agree to fix my haircut herself. I don't understand what is so hard about blunt layers? I don't care if you don't like blunt layers. I do so give me what I paid for geez. I will update this review once I go back for them to fix my hair. Hopefully the manager can fix it. The manager at HUE did respond to my email on that Monday and apologized. She offered to have a different stylist fix my hair which I appreciated but by then I had already had my hair fixed. I did tell her I would update my review because it sucks that I'm giving this place a negative review when it is this one stylist that this review is for. This review is only for my experience with Jamie and NOT any other stylist as I have not had any experience with anyone else there however I will not be returning anyway. Just a bit confused...when I called to schedule an appointment I was told to come in for a free consult so that we could discuss my needs. Consult went fine; Kelly came up with the following plan: color, do some lighter highlights/color at the ends of my hair around my face ("like the celebrities have"), and do a minimal trim so that "your hair will grow better." I agreed to it all and even asked how long it would all take. So I went in for the appointment a week later. We colored my hair, and then blew it out. That's it. I was expecting so much more; visualizing some highlights around my face and a nice trim. I didn't say anything because what's the point?..she was clearly booked back to back and didn't make a note or schedule time for what she told me we were going to do at the consult visit. So basically I feel the consult was a waste of my time. The color is fine. But when there is such miscommunication that is a red flag for me. Just noticed there is color all over my neck, usually the shampoo girl or stylist remove that. Very disappointing. Was hoping to find a good place by my house. The hunt is till on. read more

Having just moved to Boca, I went to Hue for the first time yesterday. I can honestly say it was the best experience I've had at a hair salon! Why? One big reason is that they actually LISTEN to you, and don't just go ahead and do whatever *they* think you need, as they do at most all salons I've been to. At the beginning of my appointment for highlights and a cut, both my colorist and stylist (I also love that they specialize) sat down with me to ask me detailed questions about what exactly I wanted from my color and cut. Kelly, my colorist, was excellent - I hadn't gotten my hair touched up for more than 4 (long!) months and besides that, the woman who did my highlights last completely botched the job. Kelly spent hours fixing the brassy, long rooted mess that had become of my hair color and turned it to a lovely campaigner blond - I'm so happy with it! She also made sure to ask me if I wanted to keep the kind of chunky look of the highlights (I did NOT!) something I would have completely forgotten to mention. She completely fixed the chunky look and made the color so much more natural looking and such a great fit for my complexion. The touch up to the layers by Sarah was also just what I wanted. Everyone at Hue was friendly, considerate, and totally into making sure their clients leave happy. With their prices being so reasonable too - I can't recommend them highly enough! read more

SO disappointing! I read great reviews and was looking forward to a fresh new look. I wanted a nice medium brown with highlights and had found a few pictures to bring in. After showing them to my stylist, she was pretty clear she understood what I wanted. I emphasized that I wanted the highlights to stand out because just brown is not a good look for me and she acknowledged she understood perfectly and we decided on shades. Once complete, I was expected to blow-dry and style my own hair. Umm ok, that's a first, but whatever. When done it looked nearly the same as when I arrived. I approached her and said "I don't see any highlights". We walked outside with a mirror and I saw a few very small strands of gold. Not at ALL what the photos looked like I showed her. My ends were all dark brown...the photos had a were similar to bayalage and had a lot of blond. I was really upset because I had to get to work and didn't have time for her to fit me in between her other clients to add more. At work I asked several people what they thought and the consensus was the same..."I don't really see much.... just sort of looks brown" $100 later (plus tip) I'm now at home with an OTC highlight kit to get what I want. read more

I came into Hue salon as a fresh transplant here in Boca Raton from Chicago. From the minute I walked in the salon the receptionist/manager made me feel comforatable and gave me a tour of the fabulous salon. Although it was my first time there, I felt as if I had been a regular for years. I was treated like family. Eric did my eyebrows and did THE MOST FABULOUS job. On top of a great conversation and his unfettered talent, he had me laughing and outright enjoying getting unwanted hairs tweezed from my brows . . . How could that be possible?? Eric is a genius and amazingly skilled at his craft. I cant wait for the hair to grow back so I can sit in his chair again! Kristen did my color (partial highlight). In her initial consultation she showed that she truly listened to what I asked her to do with an open dialogue and feedback. I drew attention to the fact that my hair had been badly damaged. . . She kept that in mind the whole time and applied her professionalism and knowledge to this. Inspite of my badly damaged hair, the highlights she put in not only lightened my hair as asked, but she brought my unhealthy drab and damaged hair, quite literally back to life! She is so professional and a sweet person to boot . . I was SHOCKED to see that she could actually achieve the desired affect and with a new gloss to my look :) A miracle! Finally Rene, my New York wonder woman, styled (cut) my hair. I also expressed concern about my breakage and damage and didnt think what I asked ( keep it as long as possible but with volume) was possible. She worked pure magic! She also kept me laughing and I could have chatted with her for hours!! I highly recommend choosing her for your stylist. If she could have fixed my hair . . she can do anything. The FAB THREE (Eric, Kristen and Rene) truly transformed me, made me feel like a new woman, gave me great ideas for follow up treatment and helped me start this new chapter of my life in Boca Raton off with a beautiful look that could only have been achieved with care, knowledge and pure talent!!!! I am from California, recently I went to my step-sons wedding in Boca. I didn't know anyone in Boca so I looked on Yelp and saw the great reviews for Hue Salon. I made appointments for my 2 daughters and myself to have blow outs, make up and up-do's. Eric did my makeup....WOW IS HE GOOD! He is a trained theatrical make-up artist, and artist he is! Many people came up to me at the wedding to compliment me. My closest friends and family said my make up was the best they had ever seen. Visiting Boca Raton for a location wedding this past May, I was hard pressed to find a salon that a) wasn't snooty and b) wasn't still doing hairstyles straight out of the 80's. Which brought me to fabulous Hue Hairdressing! The lady answering the phone was cordial and friendly, asking just the right questions to get you the correct stylist. She recommended Charlene who was great! I wanted a soft, Grecian updo. She created two loose braids at the front that connected at the back into a soft chignon. The updo stayed all night with plenty of dancing and well into the next afternoon! Charlene was super friendly and open to giving the best hair do possible. Prices were on par with most 'regular people' salons in the Northeast. If you're looking for a clean, friendly, and modern salon, look here first. You won't regret it. read more
