I got a Groupon for $35 for deep conditioning and blow dry. This place had good reviews so I had high hopes but unfortunately just kinda meh. So when I made the appointment online I put in notes I have keratin treated hair but when I went to book it kept giving me weird error message about credit card so I called. They did not ask if I had any special treatment or anything but did ask on hair length and said they may charge extra which I was fine with. I arrived at my appointment and was greeted quickly by the stylist who quickly whisked me to the back to begin shampoo. She didn't ask me anything about my hair and quickly began shampooing. I learned from overhearing her talking to another stylist that she used clarifying shampoo.. which is a no-no for keratin treated hair. :( Then she put on what I assumed was the deep conditioner but not sure as she wasn't really talking to me. Just seemed very rushed. I tried to make small talk with her but she wasn't really having it so I gave up. She put me in this chair with red lights behind it which was cool- way better than standard heated station (whatever they call it)..but one of the lamps died and no one noticed as they were too busy talking to one another. When she came to get me I pointed it out but she just said "that's fine". After basic "how do you want your hair blown" and I said straight, she got to work. No heat protectant or anything like that. Double boo. My only thought with the not much talking etc was maybe she assumed I was "just" a Groupon customer, one to be tolerated but in and out as quickly as possible. Not realizing that 1) I tip very well and 2) I can't tell you how many businesses I've become a regular paying customer at because of an initial Groupon deal. (I've been seeing my eyebrow girl for 14 years due to a Groupon, my regular hair salon for 6 years, etc.) It's a shame as I live very close to this salon but probably won't be returning as I felt kind of unwelcome here and didn't get the best service. I've been doing keratin for 15 years. Just had it done at the salon, came home and my hair feels like straw covered in glue. It's frizzy on top and I can't move my fingers through it. I wanted to like this place soo much. The staff was great. It was my first time doing Keratin in my hair. I was adamant about keeping my texture and curls. They said that they understood. The woman who did my hair kept asking if I was sure I was getting the right treatment. She insisted that it wouldn't make it straight. I confirmed and said yes I am aware. Once the chemicals were added to my hair there were two women on either side of me blow drying and straightening. The initial woman who began on my hair was doing soo many passes, I had to ask if it was normal. She insisted that it was a part of the process to seal it in. Well long story short. She fried my hair, and the other woman actually got the assignment. I am so happy with one side of my hair, but I cannot wear it natural, I cannot get caught in the rain or in humidity. I am sooooo pissed. They tried to clarify the one side, but it just dried it out. So now I have to hope that my natural hair comes back to life next year. What a disaster they ruined my hair !! Incompetent stylist turned my hair brown gray and purple. Soaked my entire back and pants the floor had a puddle of water . My hair is such a mess I sat there for over 5 hrs while this stylist couldn't figure out how to fix my hair. They charged me 141 for blow lights that are a mess . The receptionist insisted "you didn't speak to me" I responded that it didn't matter this is what I was told. Elizabeth was cold and unpleasant probably because I chose a different stylist. I'm back! I swear by there 24k Keratin! They had a spectacular Labor Day sales so I couldn't say no and went in to do it for the second time, my first time here was almost 7 months ago. This time Ginny did my hair and I'm OBSESSED!!!!! My hair looks amazing, beautiful shine and just amazing. Again I highly recommend the salon if you're in the area or even if you're not because not everybody does this 24 karat treatment. They also still have Groupon specials, but don't be that person... If you have long thick hair you already know you're going to pay a little bit more to get whatever it is you're getting done it's even in the fine print. Visited on a Friday and thought it was going to be madness, as it's also 1 week before Christmas. My appointment actually started early, the hairdresser wore her mask properly throughout the entire appointment and I was a safe distance away from other patrons. The hairdresser, Alena, was fantastic! She listened to what I wanted and made recommendations. I went once and Jenna did my hair. Partial "chunky" blond highlights on brown hair. She kept telling me if we do this is going break. Over and over with the excuses why she couldn't do it. She evidently didn't like the hair style. I have hair style for 3 years. She then had the audacity to say "you have to have a certain personality to pull that off." She doesn't know me. 3 years I've been pulling it off. I finally got so frustrated, I gave up. She gave me the highlights you see every other woman you see walking down the street. I have a huge personality. I used to have purple hair 3 years before. It was gaslighting 101. I thought I would give it another go with a different stylist. This time I brought a picture of me in the hair style. I pointed to the picture and said I want this. This is proof that it can be done. Same thing. Well your hair is so thin we may end up with broken ends. Every other excuse. She did have something new, asking questions in hairstylist language. Now, do you want it ashy? I pointed to the picture and I said "I want that." Do you want me to bring the warmth out?" I pointed to the picture, "I want that". I keep pointing and insisting. I've had this done many times. I know it can be done. My hair is not to thin or damaged. This and the fact she was being interrupted every 5 minutes by her boss and the receptionist. "Can you stay late? "I have to be at my second job at 5.?" "Who is coming in tomorrow"? "Nobody". She was distracted. She needed to pay attention to my hair. The timer went off. She was over talking. 5 minutes after it went off she came over and said ok, let's go wash.i gave me the same haircut that Jenna gave me. I absolutely hate it. Both times I just smiled and didnt say a word. Patty started drying my hair. I know they do a portion so they can see how the color looks dry. She dried one part and showed me. Remember, I asked for partial chunky highlight, roots, a trim and no blowout. She continued to dry another part. I wanted to get the hell out of there. I said "you know I'm not getting a blowout." She said "your not?" I said "no"she said "are you sure"? I daid "no blowout" she then said "why", I said "no blowout" a little higher. We went through this 3 or 4 times. She said "its is cheap". "No blowout". "Its only like $11.00 "." No blowout. "I had to get out of there as I knew profanities that would be coming out of my mouth. I had a good first time experience with a stylist Adriana. I finally found someone I can keep seeing therefore I immediately booked an appointment with Adriana for my daughter. My husband dropped my daughter off at the salon and checked her in for her 2hr appointment. Upon arrival I learned the salon did what was in their best interest. My daughter was now being seen by Elizabeth. Apparently Adriana had an "emergency" I specifically asked for Adriana and said I do not want my 14 treat old with anyone else. I was never called or given any options that Adriana was not there. Later the story turned out that Adriana was either fired/quit on Tuesday. This appointment was Sunday. They had over 5 days to call me and inform me of the situation. Elizabeth chose to cut my daughter's hair after her hair was dried and straighten. My daughter requested the bottom cut into a V. My hair is curly, fine/thin and super prone to frizziness. I have been getting the keratin treatment for years and this is my second time at this salon. Howie did the 24 Hour Keratin on my hair. There is a base price of $109 that increases for hair density and length. Luckily, I walked out only paying the $109. It's impossible to give zero stars but i need to share the fact that i went in for a hair cut with Ginny & i left with a complete mess. A super nice girl but the treatment i received made me feel like she was doing me a favor. I showed pictures of what i wanted which was Selena Gomez a couple years back with bangs. Ginny complete cut it in a different way and also kept elbowing me in the head which i thought was extremely unprofessional. Not to mention when i arrived the seat and floor was full of hair. They did not clean it prior to me sitting down and getting my hair cut. I am extremely upset with the treatment received and i wish Gaby was back! She was the best! Spent about 500$ my first visit and the sweetest guy Harry I think his name was, did AMAZING!!!! Was totally tentative to my needs, if he was pulling my hair or not, if I needed a charger, if I needed water. Amazing! Did everything properly, my hair was touchable soft did The Smooth keratin and the Botox diamond blowout. Now when I went BACK THE NEXT TIME for my Botox and blow out these two "ladies" covered my hair in OIL LADIES and proceeded to burn and blow dry and flat iron my hair. My hair has not stopped falling out since and about three inches are completely burned off and my hair is in worse condition then when I first went. Not to mention. I told the manager or whoever the lady was that you do not put oil in someone's hair before you try it she pulled my arm after seeing me cry and not trusting them to do my hair. It's been so difficult for me to find a salon I'm willing to go back to, so grateful to have stumbled on Hair Bar!! The receptionist (I didn't get her name, young student) was welcoming and friendly. Howie did an amazing job on my gel keratin treatment and gave me the BEST hair cut I've had in yeeeears. Stephanie was rough and seemed like she was against the clock to get my appointment over with... she was singing her heart out the entire time which, during a pandemic felt a bit like overkill. I had a deep conditioning treatment and I think I lost more hair with her trying to brush through it. She was sloppy with the water getting my back completely soaked and flicked toner on my hands and shoulders and came out way darker than the toner picked (I had blonde highlights that are completely gone now) even though I went with a light tone... the hair cut was ok, but shorter than I asked for. They were also doing construction, which was slightly annoying due to loud drilling It took the front desk person a long time to check me out which was odd considering I was the only client there and you would think she would have it ready to go but instead waited until the last second read more

I don't like writing bad reviews but i have to share my experience so it won't happen to anyone else. I went in with virgin roots and ashy blonde in the ends. I specifically ask for natural highlights, even showed a picture for reference. The first day it looked a little darker than the  but it was nice. Once I washed my hair a few times I saw a black lines near my roots that were very noticeable even with my hair up. They are like leopard patches all over my head. So I called the salon  twice and left 2 messages , but nobody called me back. Finally, when I got a hold of the hairdresser, she said due to their policy she can't fix the damage she did on my hair. Unreal and scary. If you go there be cautious because if they damage your hair they will not fix it. read more
