Kelly did an absolutely fabulous job on my hair. I got a shampoo and a cut. The shampoo was a relaxing experience. She massaged my scalp and did not rush. She did exactly what I asked for with the cut and styled it afterwards. I absolutely love Aveda products and the way they smell and make my hair feel. I will definitely be back to this salon and have Kelly do my cut again! read more

I highly recommend Kelly and Huei Salon, a quiet, peaceful oasis conveniently located on Sunset Blvd (very near 14 Carrot grocery store). I have never been a fan of salons with loud conversations and blaring music so Huei offers the perfect vibe for me. Kelly is professional, dedicated to the Aveda philosophy, precise and detail-oriented. The salon offers a very personalized experienced as Kelly does not rush. She listened to me, fully assessed my hair and my needs, and cut my hair accordingly. She also did a terrific job with my blonde hair color. It was far too "yellow" and Kelly toned it down perfectly. Kelly was also very patient and showed me new ways to blow dry my hair that have made it easier to work with my new cut. I'm also impressed that Aveda products in the salon are NOT overpriced - this will make it easier to try more products. Huéi Salon is a hidden gem in Lexington. Kelly is talented and creative. Not only did Kelly take my mess and turn it into a style, she turned it into a style, I can style! Kelly took the time to discuss my likes and dislikes prior to even beginning. Excellent haircut! Kelly did a great job taking into account the style I wanted with the hair I have. She recommended tips to get the most out of my look. She is a fun conversationalist, and the prices are much more reasonable than the other Aveda salons in the area. She also provides excellent insights into the products and different product lines that are much more useful than even the regular Aveda site is (not to mention the regular Aveda website is horrible to navigate - I'd much rather get the personalized care I received here with Kelly)! I usually lean toward getting my hair cut at an Aveda salon no matter which city I am in, and this is one of my favorite Avedas with its cozy environment and breadth of stylist knowledge. This was the absolute WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD! I owned and operated an Aveda salon and spa for over 40 years. I came to SC to visit and wanted a cut and style. Aveda used to be a very prestigious company with the highest standards in hiring expert stylists. You could go to any Aveda salon and expect the same wonderful quality of work . I have NEVER been so disgusted in my life. The absolute WORST haircut ... it started with the shampooing process, barley got my hair wet, put three fingers on my head did NOT scrub to even lather rinsed same with conditioner..showed him a picture, simple layered bob cut, had been growing out my hair to get this cut, he took 10 minutes, yes 10 minutes to cut my hair, had no clue how to blow it dry , handed me the mirror and I was horrified at my hair! He cut the back all off! It was uneven and so blunt cut, no blending or textruizing whatsoever, and he said did you want it shorter in the back, and I said NO YOU CUT OFF ALL MY HAIR I WANTED IT LONGER! Please don't go there, I ran out and went back nd cut it myself so it was at least presentable. My husband said only you can cut hair the right way, I fixed it good enough so now I'll grow it out AGAIN. read more

Kelly absolutely saved my hair. I just moved up from Florida and brought my Aveda formula to the area. I was having trouble finding an Aveda salon, so I went to another local salon where my experience was pretty awful. My hair came our entirely too dark and very damaged. Thankfully I found Kelly and she was able to get my color back on track quickly while helping to repair some of the damage from my misteps. The attention was personal, the service was amazing, and I am so relieved to have my own color back! read more

One of the BEST salons in Lexington. Precision haircuts and fantastic spa services (highly recommend the brow waxing) in a relaxing environment. This woman is fantastic! I recently got a terrible cut and color from another salon in town and was hoping that she would be able to fix it and fix it she did!! She knew exactly what needed to be done to make my hair look great from the second I sat down. I showed her the pictures of what I had requested and missed at the other salon and she made my hair look great in no time at all. She is professional, thorough and her work really speaks for itself. Rick is amazing!!!!!! I went in to have my hair colored and trimmed and he did not disappoint. He did soft red with bold blonde highlights and it looks fantastic! I thought the price for the haircut was a little extreme ($40 and he removed less than an inch of length), but the double process hair color was reasonable and the results are fabulous! read more

Well, I must have gone to this salon on an off day, because I was very disappointed. I showed the stylist a picture of what I wanted, and she seemed to understand. I wanted a sleek, short cut, but I left with...a head full of curls! She added bangs,too,which I guess is ok, but I didn't ask for them! I have an appointment next week with another stylist in Lexington, and I'm hoping she can help me. I shouldn't have to go to another stylist to correct the previous one's mistakes, but you do what you gotta do, right? Maybe I'll have better luck this time. read more

I am giving one star for my overall experience. I explained exactly what I wanted done to the woman who cut my hair (Kelly?). BUT she did not listen at all to what I asked her to do, but decided what shape SHE wanted to cut... and, disaster. I burst into tears as she was blow drying it out. She never did even apologize and I still wonder if she understands why I am upset. After a few days and with the honest input of the women I work with (who agreed it was not a very attractive or flattering cut) I did return a few days later, and although she still did not apologize, she did refund the price of the cut, which made me give the salon a star for at least that. I think she is probably competent as a stylist, but based on my experience, I would not recommend this place if you have something specific in mind that you want- as she did not take my direction at all. read more

I wanted to repair my colored and highlighted shoulder length hair. I visited Huei and Rick was my stylist. He asked what I wanted for color and chose a rich brown very close to what I would have if I didn't have so much grey! Before the new color my hair looked "ratty". It was grey at the roots and a brassy blonde covering most of the rest. I ended up with a beautiful, shiny, soft head of hair that looked so good I wished I had documented the change. I also asked for a simple cut to trim some of the dead ends. I love the swingy bob. It really enhanced the color. I did ask about a volumizing spray that I could use to give my fine strands some much needed boost. The best part of the experience was going into the salon with a headache and leaving without one. The lack of chemical smell and the gentle style/blow dry really made me feel better. I like the quiet music in the background for relaxation. It is not a loud salon at all. Rick did so well I will return in about four weeks as my roots grow out quickly. I look forward to it! read more
