From the Davis Commons, there is an entrance to the trail which follows a small creek to the UC Davis campus. The beginning is paved, so you can even push your baby along in a stroller. Along the way are plants and flowers of different varieties, small bridges, a grove of towering trees, and mallard duck couples obviously bonded for life! There is plenty of shade, benches, and spots to rest, but the full loop is about 3.5 miles, which would also make for a phenomenal run with Mother Nature.

We not only needed to re-do sections of sod and plantings, but we also had a drainage problem they fixed and added a better pathway to the backyard. All the irrigation and new lighting is great! Her team was also solid with communication and cleaned up at the end of each day. It's a small but mighty group..... be patient and get on her schedule..... it's well worth it! They had some succulents (aeoniums) Ive been interested in purchasing but usually I try to refrain from buying online so Im glad I was able to find them here. They have a california native selection, succulent area, fruit trees, and even some indoor plants inside. The prices are decent, I was able to purchase. Nuccios Camellia, 2 QT for 15$ (talk about steal! I also found a blue torch cactus, cactus, and purchased seeds. They seeds germinated and the plants are doing great. It's a smaller nursery but the selection is large. Both times Ive gone the workers are working on propagation and bringing in new product. They made sure to see if I was finding everything okay, which was nice considering I take awhile to shop. Usually, Im looking up the name as I go since I'm not an expert with scientific names quite yet! I'll continue to come here and definitely recommend to anyone in the area.

Cute little park in the midst of south Davis homes. It's a bit of a distance from the street,…read moredepending on which side you're coming from, so that makes me feel safer about the kids running around. Street parking only. There's very easy walking access from the surrounding neighborhoods, and I saw a few people taking a stroll and some biking. There are two separate play areas, but they're not super far apart, which makes it easier to supervise the kids. One is more geared for older kids and one for toddlers, although my toddler loved both of them. There are two big kid swings and two little kid swings (again, separate areas). There are wood chips in the play area, no sand. We saw some gardeners doing landscaping as we were there; the park definitely felt like they kept it up well. As for eating, there are two picnic tables and a drinking fountain. There are NO bathrooms. While there were lots of trees, they were not necessarily covering the play structures, just the surrounding grass. I wouldn't come on a hot, sunny afternoon!

Located next…read moreto Peregrine (a school) it has a vast open grassy field, tennis courts, pickleball courts, and a playground. The courts are lighted so you can play at night. The courts are rather new so there are barely any cracks through them! For those that prefer to watch, there are bleachers that line the courts so you can hang out there! I saw tons of people bring their dogs with them so definitely bring your four legged friend with you to enjoy the park. There is a parking lot right by the courts that you can park at to walk around. It's also extremely close to Oakshade Town Center so you can go over there to grab a bite to eat. I haven't gone there when school is in session but on the off days, it is pretty empty and accessible :)

This is a very nice & unique park with lots of space…read more We missed out on getting here in time for the Farmers Market that was shutting down, but enjoyed the different play areas with little one. There is a farm-themed structure, an older area, and a newer area. Some of the playground equipment were things not usually seen or that I've never seen, such as a contraption to dig in the small sand area. I also noted that the newer area was built with inclusivity in mind. Some really nice aspects are that there's a large covered cemented area, some picnic tables & benches, and lots of grass. There's a neat manually-powered carousel with suspended animals to ride on that was operating for a fundraiser. There are also musical activities. We were able to spend a lot of time here enjoying being outdoors while little one played on everything.

Who knew a…read moreuniversity green house could be packed with so many varieties of plants ranging from tropical to carnivorous to dessert cacti and even plenty of orchids! I mean there was a corpse flower which had bloomed recently which I missed but that wasn't my main focus. I was more enthralled by the tiny endangered water lily that was in bloom that doesn't exist for sale anywhere after see it here and trying to seeing it here and trying to see if it was sold anywhere... The variations of plants, monsteras, hoyas, nepenthes, butterworts, oh the list could go on and on but I just enjoyed spending almost an hour there chatting with this guy who was more knowledgeable about the collect and just as enthusiastic! The staff and students were in the other room repotting but the professor gave us permission to enter and enjoy and I was like a child giddy with happiness in a playground taking in all the sights of the plants! Totally worth a visit!

The person working today was friendly and we listened in a little bit while she gave a tour to others. Very interesting information. I'll add pictures although I didn't get the names of the plants.
