My old framer closed down, so I pulled up to the Paint Chip to get my most recent degree framed. My…read moreinitial appointment was very in-depth; the worker (unfortunately I don't remember their name) was SO helpful and walked me through tons of options to get the dignified look I was hoping for. I thought it was so cool that I got to go behind the counter and pick frame options off the wall - they really have everything you could ever need! We found a matte and frame that worked well with my other degree, which I brought for reference. The whole thing was under $300, which was very reasonable for what I ordered! They also gave me a discount for being a first-time customer and they also offer teacher discounts! The framing was estimated to take 6 weeks, which was a little long. However, the wait is worth it, as they custom-order and shape the frame to your needs. My order was finished in a little less than that timeline, which I appreciated. They also gave me hanging advice and tips for where it would look best. I love how it turned out and will definitely be back when I next have something special to commemorate!

I love the variety of paints, paintbrushes, art supplies, and frames, but it only seems to have gotten more expensive as the years go by. I bought 5 small items and almost paid 100! That's two tiny water colors, two paintbrushes, and two mechanical pencils, almost 100. Unbelievable. Secondly, there were two young women working there yesterday on a sunday, one was a taller young woman with glasses and straight hair, as I was passing by the counter, looking at watercolors, she began to talk about customers to her Coworker, who just listened, she began to talk about how someone who walked in was short, talking about their looks, and how she found short people unappealing and disgusting, and continued to talk about others on and on and on. She did not have a smile on her face, did not greet, she actually made faces. Little did she know, that the person she was referring to, was my brother's gf, which walked in separately and was on the other side of the store. Bad etiquette and lack of professionalism on her behalf. No one likes a snobby student, who sits there and talks down on people's looks as they enter the store. This made for a sour visit and my last visit at this store.

Pence Gallery - 30th Annual Pence Gallery Garden Tour 2023

Very small (no cost) gallery in downtown Davis with three neat exhibits and some items for sale…read more The exhibits right now are Slice: A Juried Exhibit of Regional Art; Rochelle Mason Focus on Nature: Beyond Eden & Wildcats of the World; and Exhibit it! A Community Art Exhibit. All of them had interesting and beautiful pieces, some of which are for sale. We were greeted by Cindy when we arrived. After spending time in one of the rooms, she asked our thoughts and we discussed for a few before going to the next. Would definitely visit again.

Their garden was more beautiful in person, and it was a pleasure to walk through it... along with the other gardens. The Pence Gallery itself is very nice. We stopped by because we had will call tickets for the garden tour. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming. She gave us a little goodie bag which we appreciated. The place was clean and organize, it was also serene and relaxing. As for the garden tour event, the description on the Pence Gallery website said there would be 7-10 gardens. Sadly, there were only FIVE + a stop at the gallery, and it literally took us less than two hours to do the whole tour. We definitely would have planned our morning differently had we known there were only five gardens. Hoping they offer more gardens next year! Other than that, we had a good experience at Pence Gallery and their garden tour event.

I have known Bob for many years and have often observed him teaching lessons. A dedicated and gifted teacher, he is also an experienced performer who brings a real-world perspective to lessons. He is equally at home teaching all age groups and levels. He treats each student as an individual and tailors the lessons accordingly, helping his students achieve the results they seek. Bob is extremely patient and always has his students' best interests at heart. He instills in them a deep love and appreciation for music. He is versatile and familiar with many different styles of music, including classical, jazz, rock, folk, etc. When you are deciding on a teacher, it is very important to choose one with integrity, because you are entrusting your hopes and dreams to them. I can vouch for Bob's integrity. Music is not something he does; music is something he lives. So if you are selecting a teacher, either for yourself or someone else, I suggest you call Bob Comarow. You can thank me later!

It was the last thing I expected to see in cute ole Downtown Davis. I'd say come to Sac if you're looking for bookstores that won't make you feel weird entering. Edit: To clarify, I found it pretty disappointing that there was an entire shelf dedicated to European history, and another shelf generalized as "world history". Within the "world history" shelf, I saw a row of books specifically about Israel and Zionism, albeit not labeled as such. The only book with Palestine in the title was on display, but on the back cover it specified that it recounts the "experiences of Zionist women settling in Palestine", and not indigenous Palestinians. I scanned the shelf and didn't see a single book about Palestine, despite a fair number on Israel. Given how charged this topic is with the ongoing genocide in Gaza, I felt uncomfortable as it seemed that the bookstore had taken an intentional stance by not providing, at the very least, accounts of both sides of the matter.
