With the pandemic, we weren't able to hold our annual event and fundraiser in 2020 and wasn't sure what we were going to do at the end of 2021. For 9 years we had been holding a golf tournament in support of Operation Homefront, a charity that helps veterans and their families. Each year we had a silent and live auction. The items for the auction were solicited, collected and prepared for bidding by the organizing committee. The entire process from preparation to collecting payment was handled by the committee. I have worked with PAC on both sides of the gavel. Meaning I have attended charity events where he was the auctioneer and I have also used his services to help raise funds for non-profits I am associated with. I will echo the comments of the others who have used Pacific Auction Company to help them at charity events. The merchandise they bring is a nice variety of sports and entertainment memorabilia, as well as local and far-away getaways and fine art. They do all the work for you, and Steve is a great auctioneer for live auctions. You don't have to worry about soliciting donation items, and you don't have to worry about the check-out process. They do everything! All you supply are the tables, linens, and meals for their workers. They will also promote your own donated items for a minimal fee that basically covers the cost of credit card processing and associated fees. I will add that Steve is also very responsive and easy to work with. Let's say you are the winning bidder on a trip. If things don't work out, you can contact Steve, and he will do everything he can to find you a different trip that will work better for you. I just can't say enough good stuff about him. Pacific Auction Company is a great company to work with, and they take so much of the grunt work out of fundraising for non-profits. The worst auctioneer I have ever seen, Went last night to the Sacramento Law Enforcement Memorial Ball and did not walk out in the middle of his auction due to respect for the fallen officers. Not only dragged the program to put you to sleep, but keep shushing everyone like he was in a chicken barn, didn't anyone teach him that is bad manners to shush people? I was the highest bidder on a Los Cabo, Mexico vacation. The vacation was a 3 bed 3 bath penthouse condo for 8 days 7 nights. Steve, the auctioneer, said the condo was his. With the Condo was a Catamaran dinner cruise for four. All for the winning bid of $2,200.00. Sound great right??? Well...maybe not. I called the number on the certificate and it sounded like a strange personal greeting from a woman who just said her name... "Laura Williams". Not a business greeting. Well, I thought, maybe Steve's wife (if he has one) created the outgoing message. After all, he said he owned it. But after at least five days and at least 5 calls and one email (two of the days were on the weekend), I never got a message back. I started feeling I was scammed. I called my bank and within minutes my bank agreed to reverse the charges. Good thing I only waited a few days before calling my bank. I'm not sure what going on but it's no way I would agree to pay $2,200.00 for a trip and the people responsible for booking the trip for me never get back to me. I've also noted that with every negative review there is a 5 star positive review made a short time later. Sounds like the 5 star reviews are made up and people are asked to write a review or even worst it's the company making their own reviews. At the very least it's suspect. Steve finally got back to me after the president of my organization and board members got involved. Steve came up with some poor excuses claiming he was busy with other and had the nerve to ask me to reverse the banks reversal "because the purchase is non refundable". Hahahah. We have run an annual live and silent auction to raise money for our organization for over 10 years. Anyone who has run an auction before knows that getting auction items is difficult. There comes a point where people start offering up a bag of Starbucks and a cup as an item. Add to that the amount of volunteer labor required to organize and run the event and organize and process all the items from the auction it is an intense experience with high burnout for volunteers. It has left volunteers crying from exhaustion, and threatening to quit. None of those are good results. We're just trying to raise money to do good. This year we decided to use Steve Godfryd and his team at Pacific Auction. My first impression of Steve was when we drove to Davis to meet with him. We were able to get a sense of the type of auction items he brings to the event. The best part was he gave us lots of advice and insight - which we would have benefited from even if we didn't hire him! After experiencing the event, all I can say is ... BLOWN AWAY. The money we raised on the auction items we brought was slightly less than our full take at our other auctions - BUT we only brought about 40 items instead of 100, so the amount per item and effort was greater. The money we raised on the PAC items was much better than we expected and the items they brought were lovely, high quality items. Best of all, we nearly DOUBLED the money we normally raise for our endowment. Then there was the checkout. One of the real pain points of auctions we had run. I don't know what PAC did, but it ran like butter. I also walked out the door with a copy of each bid sheet and the winning bid. I am on the PTA and am VP of Fundraising at my son's elementary school in Benicia, CA. This year we decided to host a Live & Silent Auction Fundraiser, which was an enormous task that our school has never attempted before. After I bid on their Lake Tahoe condo for $2500 I was later charged cleaning before I could redeem the certificate. The flyer is very deceiving, you are getting a run down condo with broken appliances. We experienced a leak from the upstairs bathroom that ran into the kitchen below. Chunks of insulation fell on the food prep area. We were told that the ceiling had to be opened up in order to repair the leak. We left halfway through our stay since we couldn't expose an infant and an asthmatic in our party to possible mold exposure. We were not even given a refund for our "cleaning charge". Jane Garrison and Steve Godfryd both stated they were sorry we had a poor experience, but that there is nothing they can do about it. This property has not been maintained. The entryway had a flight of stairs with no lightning. We had to replace the lights at the bottom and top of stairs. The entryway door jam was broken and the code to the door is not changed between guests. Jane said it is only changed periodically! The slider door to the balcony does not lock at all. I will not participate in any events that use this auction company! read more

We won the bid for a trip to Ireland at an SPCA event. The trip has been arranged by Steve. We were supposed to go on the trip but had to cancel due to COVID. Steve has been very helpful in allowing us to delay the entire trip until a date we are comfortable going, and was done at no cost. The service has been excellent. Thank you. read more

We placed the winning bid for a ski in - ski out condo in Heavenly Valley, Nevada side. We just got back from our trip, and we had an incredible experience. Our host Jane was quick to respond to our emails and reserving our travel dates was quick and easy. Before our trip our host sent us detailed instructions which were very helpful and easy to follow. When we reported minor issues such as missing garbage bags and broken ice trays, she ordered them promptly and they were delivered to our doorstep the next day. As for the condo itself, the 3 bed, 2 bath condo was clean and very comfortable. The only drawback was that it was on the third floor, and climbing all those outdoor steps was quite a chore, but it was worth it once you made it to the top. Kitchen was a little dated, but everything worked fine and there was plenty of room for our family to enjoy a movie or gather around the table for food or games. And the best part? The location! We were right across the street from the Stagecoach express lift (as well as Stagecoach Lodge) which made it so easy to hit the slopes early and head back for a quick lunch or after a full day without having to drive anywhere. We would definitely stay here again (and hope to do so next year!). read more

I purchased a trip to Hawaii from a fundraiser put on by Pacific Auction Company. What I found was that my $550 was just a donation and had absolutely nothing to do with the trip that I was to go on. The hotel that I was told I would be staying at as part of my trip was a $1300 upgrade and not a hotel that the reservation company provided as standard. The amount I had to pay for my hotel stay was the exact amount that I found myself by going to Booking.com. Bottom line, don't buy a trip from this company because you won't be buying a trip. You will simply be paying someone a lot of money to book a trip that you could do yourself. read more

I have never seen a silent auction before with set bid increments of $25 to $50. Understand a minimum bid process but it was obvious by the lack of bids their prices were too high. We offered $200 for an item after the auction closed - nobody bid on the item so we thought to make an offer. They turned us down and said they would rather take it home. Minimum bid was $300. Rep was rude when I asked him about this, ignored me, kept his head down and repeatedly said we don't deal with the public. Horrible customer service. I purchased a piece of art from PAC for approximately $1300. A few short weeks thereafter, bugs started to appear within the sealed framing. The frame came from Indonesia and when I contacted the framing dept. of PAC, they acknowledged this could be due to insect eggs. I was promised a return call. None was forthcoming. I contacted PAC multiple times to resolve the issue. Finally, I reached Steve who told me I could exchange the limited edition piece. I had to drive into SF to meet PAC in the dark lobby of a hotel to make the change. So far, I was out bridge toll, parking fees and time. When I returned home, I noticed the mat was a different color than the original and looked awful with the picture. Steve told me I had a chance to look at the piece and refused my plea to exchange the mat. I told him the lobby was extremely dark and I could not see the off color mat. His "final offer" was for me to drive from Marin County to Davis to exchange the mat. NO THANKS. I paid to remat the art myself. read more

The proprietor was very over-the-top, which can work with some crowds, but not with this one (a group of older, well-established folks). He brought a few interesting things to the tables, but most were just reprinted photos of famous sports figures and actors one could find in a souvenir shop. Most items were left without any bids from this group of hundreds of attendees. One of the attendees who did bid later complained that he was outbid on the item, the person that outbid him reneged, and then weeks later the auctioneer phoned him an inordinate amount of times demanding that he then purchase the item after all. He said it left a very bitter taste in his mouth, and I can understand why; I can respect someone trying to make it work in a tough economy, but borderline harassment is not the answer. Overall, it wasn't the worst auction service out there, but it certainly was far from the best. read more
