I've only been here twice now. Once for my first cleaning and of course I had to come back for a filling, both in August. When scheduling for my check up 6 month later, does anyone really know what time and day they'll be available in six months. Well of course we schedule anyways and then two months before hand I see if I can change it. The lady says they're booked out till August. So if I cancel my March appointment, it will be a full year before I'm seen again. I think this is common in Anchorage. We don't have enough dentist that they're booked out a whole year? The lady couldn't really help me and I didn't wanna cancel so I just left it. I have to remember to call them if I can't go so I don't get charged $50. Seems a little ridiculous. The dentist also had a tremor when he was doing my filling. I don't know if that's an everyday thing or what, but I was a little nervous. read more

I've been coming to Huffman Family Dentistry for a while and have enjoyed my experience over time but most recently, one of the receptionist, Patty, was very short and rude. Called me the day prior to confirm my appointment and I recall our conversation juggling between the idea of putting me on a short list and pushing me out to May 2026 or me potentially making the appointment if i could make it work. Towards the end of our conversation, Patty hung up on me and I was left with the assumption that I was being rescheduled to May 2026 and placed on a short list. The next day, I received a call from Patty asking if I was going to make my appointment. Confused by the call because I was under the impression that I was being rescheduled to May 2026 and didn't get any clarity on the appointment because i was hung up on. Even when trying to make the appointment that Patty said i was still able to make, I wasn't able to be seen and was charged a $50 dollar fee due to a misunderstanding. Several times during my interaction with Patty i said, "I really think this is a misunderstanding" but she unprofessionally would say, "I don't think so" or "the last thing you said is you'd be here". But again, because I was hung up on, I was unsure of what the agreement was. The last thing I recall was I was being rescheduled to May. Customers aren't always right, but they should always feel heard. I wasn't trying to make an excuse, I simply was trying to explain my side of the misunderstanding but I was dismissed. Again, the staff here is always great and this was my first time interacting with Patty. Just wasn't the best experience compared to my prior visits to Huffman Family Dentistry. read more

I have been a patient of Huffman Family Dentistry since I was pregnant with my son who is now 18. My entire family loved the and the whole operation worked well but maintained a very personal flavor. However, since Dr Petersen's retirement and the passing of Dr Weaver, I have felt that the practice has been going in a direction that I do not care for: more concern for billing than patients. A couple of recent experiences: I had a cleaning with a hygienist who scolded me like I was five because I didn't floss adequately for her taste (I floss intermittently but every other hygienist I have had calls my cleaning "EASY") and worse I believe DELIBERATELY hurt me and was unnecessarily rough with my cleaning. There was a huge amount of blood and pain - worse than when I hadn't been to the dentist for 2 years during covid. This hygienist should be fired but still works there. More recently, I had my six month cleaning scheduled like always when I leave the office. I count on the practice to remind me when that appointment is and they have never failed to remind. So when it seemed like six months was long past I checked in. Apparently, they were short hygienists and rather than reschedule my appointment, they simply dropped it off the schedule without informing me. This is unacceptable and if I did that to them, I'd be charged a no-show fee. I'll be taking my family elsewhere. This practice has become unreliable and really unfriendly. read more

I switched myself and oldest son to Huffman Family Dentistry about a year ago They came highly recommended by 2 different families when I asked for referrals. I am very happy with all our care so far. The front office ladies are all very friendly and accommodating to schedules, billing insurance, and working with payments. The hygienists have all been thorough and given me honest feedback to better care for my teeth. Dr Weaver is great! I have needed some crowns and other dental work. It has been as pleasant as can be. I also appreciate he has offered to replace my mouth guard for no charge if I want to try a thinner one, and make it more comfortable. My children have grown up going to Huffman Family Dentistry and soon my grandson will be the third generation to have a bright smile thanks to the Huffman Family Dentistry family of professionals. I have never been disappointed with any procedure or any negative experience with anyone who works for them. Huffman Family Dentistry has been worked me into their schedule for urgent and important care. For example, my son was due to fly out of Alaska in 3 days and lost his crown. Dr. Peterson not only saw him but made special arrangements so my son's crown was replaced in time to catch his plane. I can't recommend Huffman Family Dentistry strongly enough! My husband and I have been going to Huffman Family Dentistry for about 14 years. We absolutely love them! Everyone is friendly and so enjoyable! Had a nasty experience with Huffman Family Dentistry. I was overcharged $85 for an "exam" I never authorized. By the way, this "exam" lasted a minute or two for $85? I have dental insurance and went for an appointment for cleaning only. When I called Huffman Family Dentistry, I was confronted by an employee who was very condescending. "We recommend an exam every six months". She then said I complained about some tooth pain which prompted the exam, which was a lie. This dental office does not have a blank check to charge me for whatever they want and then try to defend it. Finally, the lady said, "We will have to dismiss you." Really? Dismiss me? I have nothing but good things to say about this office and shake Dr. Weaver's hand with genuine appreciation each time I leave. I AM SO THANKFUL I FOUND THIS OFFICE! I was brought to this firm via a referral by a friend for a second opinion after another dentist performed a botched crown. As a small business owner, I pay attention to the details. All the staff is super polite and extremely professional. This firm is definitely an industry leader and should be followed as a leader of how professional medical offices should operate. You won't find a better place to go for dentistry. Honestly, this place is the most professional and thorough dentist office in this city. And, fair pricing. I can't say that I've ever thought that about a dentist office before, but I do feel that way about this place. I had a big filing come out of my tooth and they had to squeeze me in so I thought the bill was going to be crazy high and it wasn't at all. Probably the first time ever that I haven't felt robbed by a dentist. I would highly recommend this place. read more
