I took my new puppy to Huffman K-9 for their basic obedience training class. Unlike the other trainers I used in the past, this was the first time that the trainer had me do the training. I was the one on the end of the leash working the dog. My Remington was only 14 weeks old and learning how to walk across beams and other skills. But the best part of the training was that I learned a lot about myself. I was able to take that training to the next level and train my Remington to be my service. The theory is you get about 10 hours with the trainer. A dog needs about 100 hours to master all the commands you are teaching them. Do it falls onto the dog owner to maintain the training. So why not train the owner to be the trainer? It costs about $1,500 for the 10 week training but the results don't lie. read more

Freaking A. What incredible luck I had... So 3 years ago I met Jensen at his Malinois Jax at the sellwood food truck (before the pandemic). After chatting with him I come to find he's a dog trainer. Seeing HOW incredibly well behaved Jax was I knew that no matter what dog I would adopt next I would bring them to Jensen. Fast forward a year, I had to put down my dog and remembered how incredible Jax was. I went on the website to find Jax and Butter's is having a litter. Im so excited I call them to get on the waitlist. I speak with Jensen's wife Alina (wonderfully lovely woman) who speaks to me at length and ultimately talks me out of buying one of their puppies because we were planning another baby. I loved how honest she was and decided to put Belgian malinois as a breed for my family aside for at least 10 years. Present day, I rescued a Malinois from Texas... they said she was the most unique and calm and good family malinois there ever was. I adopted her in a heartbeat. At first I was worried because she was behaving like a typical malinois... so I quickly called huffmans and got an appointment. Unfortunately the appointment was for 1.5 months.. I asked to be put on the cancellation list and boom got a cancellation. First off get in fast, make an appointment like yesterday, they are booked out SO far. They also have several trainers who are ALSO booked out, and for good reason. They are good and they are worth it. I first met Brooke at the facility who told me who to speak with, she has Incredible energy, super friendly, I hope I get to work with her! Then I meet David who basically saved me from being dragged across their property trying to walk my very excited mal. He took my dogs leash and helped me walk her calmly back towards where I was to meet Jensen. Then I meet Jensen. Wow. I mean seriously. Wow. I've had my dog for a week and she wouldn't listen to me whatsoever. He said took her leash and within 3 minutes she was everything I wanted her to be. I learned so much in my 2 hour assessment that I was speechless when he taught me how to handle my dog. I wish there was more time for me to gush about my experience at Huffman k9 but having already met half the staff and seriously really appreciating them within such a short time speaks volumes for me. Wow - a reactive dog class that uses punishment to suppress the dog's reactions...dog is now twice as bad. There may be a time for old school techniques but not for fear based behaviors. Very unimpressed with the level of knowledge here. Great sales ability though, I'll give them that. read more

We recently completed 10 sessions of one on one training with Huffman K9. We have a one year old German Shepherd and having never owned a dog before I was adamant to my husband that if we got one, it needed to be well trained. We tried bark busters training initially and it was a total disaster and left me feeling hopeless. Then to find Huffman was a godsend. Every time Jensen Huffman speaks I learn something I didn't know before. If not for him, the dog I have would most likely have ended up being put down. That is truth. But it's more then that. Yesterday he told a story about one of his dogs going lunatic in the car and how he got frustrated over it. His next thought was, wait a minute. I'm a professional dog trainer. I'm supposed to know how to change this. He is so secure in himself that he can freely and openly admit his humanity and mistakes. Now this is, to me, the quality that separates him from most people I've known, including myself. Before going to Huffman, my 1 year old golden retriever/German Shepherd was reactive with stress, jumped on people, pulled on a leash, had tunnel vision on what only she wanted, and was still play biting. I noticed a huge difference after only 2 sessions. I think what worked so well was that I too, was being taught on how to be a good handler. Today was my 5th of 10 training sessions with Huffman K9. I waited a bit to leave a review to determine if it really was this 'amazing training/place' that everyone made them out to be. I went from a reactive dog to walking through home depot without a problem. If you saw my girl you would know how big of a deal it is. I tried a couple trainers before I went to huffman K9 Obedience. I kept going back and forth about wanting to spend the money it costs for training, just to have it fail like the other times. What sealed the deal for me was going to Elite Protective films and speaking with the owner. She had a Corso like we did and it was well behaved. Huffman was one of several training options that we were looking into for our dog. After the first meeting with Jensen, even my very skeptical husband agreed that this place was a great opportunity. We decided that it would be worth it to get the 10 session package and I'll tell you what... it was worth EVERY penny. We learned so much about our dog and ourselves, and the 10 sessions flew by.
