We adopted our GoldenDoodle puppy this summer and when we looked around for a dog trainer we stumbled upon Canine Classroom. Initially we were a little surprised at the price of training, but we could already see how well Steve worked with Bumi as soon as we arrived. We worked with Steve and Wes every week for about 2 months, and saw immediate improvement in our dogs temperament, patience and overall behavior. We tapered lessons down to every other week, then once a month for a total of about 4 months. Steve and Wes have taught me how to communicate with my dog in a productive manner that I will remember forever. I am beyond grateful to have such a well behaved puppy all thanks to their help and training! We just graduated puppy school today, and Wes told me that if I need any help in the future to just let him know and he can fit me in for another session or give me advice over the phone. I feel confident that my investment was well worth it as Steve and Wes will always be a resource available to us if we ever need the help. Thanks again Wes and Steve! - Lauren and Bumi

My husband and I were having major behavioral and reactivity issues with our one year old male GSD (Doc) when we decided to seek training. Doc was at the point where we couldn't have him around other dogs, or oftentimes even out of the crate in the house, we certainly were not comfortable having him around new people and were nervous even to take him out in public. We were at first skeptical of training, wondering if we could even "fix" his behavior. When we had our initial consultation with Steve he said he thought Doc could be a model dog in 2-3 months, I wasn't so sure, but we decided to take a chance and are so glad we did! By the end of the first week of training Doc had already earned our trust to be out and about in the house without supervision, he began to be easy to take on walks and introduce to new people by weeks 2-3, dog reactivity had improved incredibly in the first month and a half, and now, we've completed his training in less than three months and Doc is nearly 100% accurate with off leash commands, interaction with other animals and humans, and has transformed from a total menace to a pleasure to have around. I would highly recommend Steve especially if you are seeking a Shepherd-friendly program. The training schedule is flexible, which is especially helpful to us since my husband is a police officer and schedules for us are always changing. My favorite part of the canine classroom experience is that they teach YOU how to train your dog yourself, so that you can be independent and confident with your dog for many years. Steve was very nice every time we came in, and has continued to reassure us that if we ever have other problems, we can always come back in for more help.

Upon reading some of these reviews and hearing about these bad experiences, I felt the need to say they are incredibly inaccurate and should not deter you from visiting The Canine Classroom. Steve, Wes and Ray have completely transformed my dog Cocoa from being an aggressive, stubborn dog to being an angel on walks. I started bringing Cocoa here when I was 16 and she was 5. I did this back in 2016 for a couple weeks and started noticing differences in her behavior almost immediately. But because life started getting in the way for me, I stopped bringing her. Her problems continued because I didn't put in the effort to fix them and bring her back. My dog was incredibly aggressive upon seeing any dog. She would growl and bark and lunge. She would also make this weird scream-bark that was super embarrassing (and frankly scary). I got her when I was 11 and I quickly gained anxiety from walking her. I was worried that as a big dog she would pull me down in attempt to attack another dog ( which she had at one point). To say I was discouraged would be an understatement. This year, (she is now 9 years old) I decided to bring her back. I called them up and they gladly helped me set up an appointment in late march. It is now mid May, and I have a completely "different" dog. In such a short amount of time, her dog aggression is almost completely eliminated. Just today, I had cocoa walking with two other dogs and she had zero issue (this may sound small to you, but I had never been able to do that before). No more barking, no more lunging or growling. I wish I wouldn't have stopped bringing her in 2016. She is so much better, and it's thanks to the trainers' hands on approach. Not only will you see improvement in your dog, you will see improvement in yourself. They trained me to train my dog. One of the reviews complained about how they didn't make house visits to train their dog. That's not their job! It is your job to train your dog; they just teach and show you the tools to do it, but at the end of the day you have to have the motivation to do it when you get back home. I didn't have that in 2016. Another review talked about how there style was super "cookie-cutter" and that is SO far from the truth. They listened to what my problems were with Cocoa and then started there. They took Cocoa out of the classroom into a field with other dogs and transformed her. I saw her go from an anxious, mean dog to a relaxed, and kind dog. All of the trainers here have treated me and my dog with respect and I will definitely be bringing my future dogs here. If you are serious about getting your dog trained, come here. You will absolutely not regret it.

Wonder Puppy enables a safe and controlled environment where puppies can interact and play with one another. I've already seen the value in these socialization experiences as my puppy is beginning to calm down, and to learn appropriate behaviors... most notably, how much is too much? Seriously, those little teeth and claws are really quite sharp! I appreciate the well-maintained and clean facility at Wonder Puppy. There is ample street parking in the neighborhood, though beware of the homeless camp located on the next block. Use common sense when securing your vehicles, and be sure to keep any valuables out of sight or bring them in the building with you. My husband, my puppy and I have all benefited tremendously from our time at Wonder Puppy. It's been a really positive experience, and I'm hoping the lessons we've learned will serve us for many years to come.

We used Tails and Trails 3 times with mixed results. Important to know- you create detailed notes with the owner (Jeff) on how to access your building, routines, where leashes are, etc., etc., when you have your introductory visit. Our instructions ask that the handler only feeds the cats their canned food, nothing else. 1st time, week-long trip (June 2024)- handlers were 2+ hours late regularly. While this wasn't the biggest issue, we don't have a doggie door and that level of lateness pushed the pup's bathroom breaks longer than we're comfortable. But, we liked the service offered and adjusted how often we scheduled handler visits for the second and third visits. 2nd time, 1 week of walks while both of us were gone for longer than 8 hours (September 2024)- Great! Annie (I'm not disclosing employees' full names for their privacy) had no problems and was very helpful. 3rd time, overnight away- 4 visits requested: Sat afternoon and evening; Sun am and afternoon (October 2024)- Day 1- We left the house at 8 am and scheduled feeding/walk visits for about 1:00 pm and 6:00 pm. Around 1:25 pm, Chloe (office manager) texted me to ask if we had scheduled for 7:00 am that day. When we said we hadn't, a communication between Chloe and a handler led to the 1:00 pm visit being skipped. We talked with Chloe that evening and she said the handler would roll the afternoon and evening visits together, apologized for the miscommunication between herself and the handler, and credited our account for the mistake (all great). The handler arrived around 7:00 pm. They had a difficult time accessing the building so Chloe texted us to say the handler would hang out for a little longer before leaving if they couldn't get access. Once they did get into the building, they couldn't find the food or leash. The access information, food instructions, and where the leashes are were all in the instructions. The handler fed the pets and took the pup for a 15-min potty break. Since we were only gone for a night, we didn't book anyone to stay overnight. We considered cutting the trip short and wish we had. Day 2- Oscar was our handler. We got notifications that both visits were completed and everything seemed to have gone smoothly. When we got home, a glass jar with cat treats had been taken from the closed closet and left open on the counter. When we got home, there were treats all over the counter and SHATTERED GLASS MIXED WITH TREATS all over the floor. All three cats had engorged stomachs. While Chloe apologized and said she'd speak with Oscar the next day, we didn't hear back from Tails and Trails' manager or owner. We'll be anxiously monitoring our furbabies for a few more days.

We tried multiple other training classes and techniques in the Portland area but none of them were able to help us with Bumper's leash aggression, pulling, and stubbornness. We were at the point where we were hesitant to take him anywhere because of how naughty he was. After doing much research and reading all of the excellent reviews, we decided to try Off Leash K9 Training. Although Ryan and Mandy were located in Eugene, we decided do the two-week course where Bumper stayed with them 24/7. We had doubts about whether or not it would work because of how stubborn our kiddo was, but he came back a different dog! No he is not perfect and he still acts out, but he is soooooo much better than before and we feel comfortable taking him out in public. Ryan and Mandy even extended his training for an additional week at no cost because he wasn't making the progress they had hoped he would. When we finally picked up Bumper after the three weeks, Ryan spent over two-hours with my wife and I to go over Bumper's trainings and commands. He was very patient and did a great job explaining everything. Yes the training is very expensive, more than I ever thought I'd pay for dog training, but the benefits of a well behaved beagle are priceless. Ryan and Mandy also run a dog rescue on site so it was great to know Bumper would not be alone. We will definitely be using Ryan and Mandy again for all of our training needs. Thank you!
