INCREDIBLE!!! I can't even articulate how amazing Hugh and his team were throughout our whole process. We had an unconventional wedding (ceremony/rehearsal dinner on one night, and party the next night), so Hugh did 2 events in a row for us. I have to be honest, I usually have very low expectations of catered food. In my experience, nothing is ever hot enough, dishes are bland and safe to accommodate all palates, and there's never enough to go around. So, when this caterer was suggested for an upcoming office party, I shrugged and hoped for the best. But, looking on the website and seeing the options from Hugh Groman Catering made me a little more hopeful. The dishes looked fresh, flavorful, and unique. So, I threw in my two cents about my preferred dishes and, in the end, was very pleased. There is nothing more amazing than the Filet Mignon sandwich on puff pastry with a parmesan truffle aioli. I ate at least 4 of them, and then packed away another 4 to take home. The potato and caramelized onion fritatta was also very good. I'm not generally a fan of salmon, but their horseradish sauce and fresh chives made me question my biases against the pink fish. The salad was good, the champagne vinaigrette was tasty, and it remained fresh and bright throughout the evening. Best of all, they provide compostable to-go boxes and come to pick up everything later on at your convenience. I would absolutely choose them in the future. read more

Hugh really made my wedding. My wife has some challenging dietary restrictions: She's vegetarian, allergic to dairy, eggs, and gluten. When I solicited estimates from various catering services that promoted their vegetarian options, Hugh personally called me. He sounded like he really wanted a good challenge. As someone who takes pride in the work that I do for my career, I immediately recognized Hugh as someone who wouldn't disappoint me. Hugh really helped us with details that made our wedding go smoothly. When we tried to find a vendor to make us a gluten free, vegan wedding cake, we were disappointed. The recipes that my wife had tasted better then what well-known bakeries could produce. We shared our recipes with Hugh, and he made us a set of cupcakes that our guests devoured! (BTW, if you need a vegan and/or gluten-free desert, ask Hugh to make the almond cupcakes with the chocolate or berry topping. They are incredible!) Hugh also helped introduce us to a DJ in his network, which really helped us get the kind of atmosphere we wanted. We ended up having a mostly vegan and gluten-free wedding, with a few normal items mixed in. Hugh and his team catered an evening party for our nonprofit organization (probono) last weekend and went well above the call of duty. Hugh just catered my son's wedding in San Francisco. We could not have been happier with the event. The food was outstanding, service amazing and the set-up beautiful. They really went the extra mile...for some reason the wedding cake wasn't decorated (don't ask) and they managed to magically pull some flowers from the arrangements and decorate the cake! And it was beautiful! All the staff were masked (even though guests were not required to be) and dressed super professionally. There were plenty of waiters so the guests' every need was promptly attended to. The food was cooked on site in a small kitchen. Everything seemed effortless. I was in the restaurant business for many years and I know great service when I see it. I also have been to culinary school and teach cooking so I like to think I am able to recognize good food. Hugh helped plan and run our wedding and reception. I was extremely pleased by how much time he put in with us (two meetings and another consultation at the site to pick out the colors and dishes/flatware). His menu was fresh and exciting and he was willing to work with us on specific ingredients we wanted and didn't want. His menu is huge and I'd have loved to sample more of the dishes. He even had someone track my food and beverages (since I was the groom) so I wouldn't have to.
