Red Door catered our 180 person welcome party and wedding this summer and they were phenomenal! The welcome party featured 2 live action pasta stations, delicious salads, and signature cocktails. The wedding was family style and all the guests raved about the food. They were able to create the exact menu that my husband and I wanted, encompassing all our favorite foods and flavors. The highlight though was the amazing passed appetizers and live sushi station during cocktail hour. The bartenders were also great and the signature wedding cocktails featured large square ice cubes with our initials on them. Such a fun touch! Red Door was professional, kind, creative, and thoughtful. They went out of their way to ensure our wedding was a success. We worked primarily with Reign and Aldane, but the whole team was stellar. Red Door Catering made my high tea birthday party a huge success! At first I was hesitant to call them because I thought my party with 25 people might be too small for their catering services. They treated me with the same attention to detail and care as if I was hosting a big corporate event. Everything went seamless, from helping me select a menu within my budget to the delivery and pick up. They brought EVERYTHING I needed for a beautiful presentation in addition to the AMAZING food that everyone was clamoring for more. Our wedding was pi-day 2020 (3-14-2020), or in Bay Area terms, two days before secure at home went into effect. It's now two weeks later and I want to begin here-- not a single person who attended our wedding at Chabot Space and Science Center has reported being sick in anyway. To this point, we owe Reign and her team much of the credit. In the weeks before the wedding RDC was prepping to cater during the pandemic. They were sending emails about how they will foster distancing and cleanliness. They were extraordinarily proactive. To say again, Not a single person of the 60 person guest list is sick as of this post. So putting that aside let's talk food and service-- Our pi / pie (and science) theme was wonderfully embraced by RDC. From the staff wearing lab coats to all the tables intentionally being round (the wedding was no place for parallelograms). The highlight , the tamale pie , was probably the best thing I have eaten this year. We wish that we had more events to cater so that we can continue to eat RDC's food. And we thank them so so very much for doing an epic job during a very problematic time. I can't speak highly enough of this company. They catered an event I attended and it was perfection. They had clear signage so people who were vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free could eat without worry, and they had enough options for everybody. The food was amazing. Bacon cooked to perfection, lemon ricotta pancakes, vegetable Frittata for breakfast. It was all delicious. They had homemade granola bars, glazed almonds and brownies for snack. Then for lunch there was salad, grilled vegetables, paella, chicken and salmon. Again, absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. The linen and set up is beautiful. The flowers on each table were gorgeous. They are ecofriendly with compostable plates and utensils. The service was with a smile, professional and neat. I would hire them!!! read more

My firm recently had a holiday party at the Chabot Space and Science center and The Red Door is one of their preferred vendors. My coworker and I researched the other caterers but we found TRD to be the best. Reign was a pleasure to work with, she's very personable and she really went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. We worked with her to create our holiday party menu, which was a perfect blend of yummy and healthy. I was so impressed that she really listened to our needs and wants and she was able to deliver such great food. Our professional event was catered by The Red Door and I simply cannot recommend this company. After what appeared to be a seamless conversation with the owner about the event, things fell apart as details were forgotten or mistaken. Initially, I was told that it would be no problem to make adjustments within a reasonable time frame. However, when I tried to drop the count (as is usually expected based upon RSVP), I was told that the company does not cater events less than $2,500. The website indicates small and large catered events (which would mean a $250.00 meal per person for 10 people if hosting a small group). Also, the event was a daytime lunch event and I indicated a full menu would not be necessary. The menu I initially received in the proposal was based on another event and I specifically requested that some items be removed. A revised menu was never provided and, when it was brought to the attention of the owner, she could not recall the discussion. My recollection was based on my notes as I was working with several vendors. The owner refused to provide a tasting which is highly unusual for any catered event. Overall, based on the lack of attentiveness to detail, customer service and administrative process, I would suggest seeking out another caterer. read more

We served them as dessert after a small dinner party and the topic instantly switched into how good they were, who were the bakers, and many thanks and congratulations to us for bringing them to the party. We stumbled across 'The Red Door' completely by chance, and thank goodness we did! We recently had our wedding at the Brazilian Room, and were issued with a long list of caterers. We began our hunt for the perfect caterer based on three things: Price, Website, Yelp reviews. It was hard in the sea of options to find anything that stood out based on these factors -- until we found The Red Door. The way it happened is that we randomly we headed up the Brazilian Room to see the space long after we had booked the venue. We had one caterer in mind that had awesome review that was going to be there that night, so we figured we would kill two birds with one stone and probably select our caterer. For those that have seen the Brazilian Room, you know that it has a simple rustic beauty, which is part of the charm. The caterer which will stay unnamed that we assumed would be amazing, looked more placed to be in a 1980's hotel banquet room, serving 90 year old grandmother tea and cake... not cool, and not our style. At the back of the room, was a smiling owner/chef (Reign Free) serving a simple, tasty butternut squash soup and crostini. It sung, and it was clear that Reign 'got' the style that suited the room, and ultimately suited us. To cut to the chase now - the food is simply amazing. It just so happens that my husband to be and myself are vegetarians, and we wanted a vegetarian meal. Reign's food (even in a buffet setting) rivals any top San Francisco restaurant. I personally never enjoy wedding food (and as a vegetarian can never normally eat any of it either) but The Red Door delivered 100% taste and satisfaction. Now meat eaters, do not fear. I loved our tasting with The Red Door so much, that I was confident to introduce my boss to them. I work for a top fashion house, that has extremely high standards. If my French boss hires them to cater private dinners in her home, trust me...... that is worth a thousand words! Other details I should mention, the buffet lines were fast (this was a fear of mine), the food was plentiful (there was nothing left at the end, but everyone went back for seconds) the presentation of the food was beautiful, and Reign, Mia and all the staff went ABOVE an BEYOND to make our day a success for us eg (prepared apps and champagne for us to have it private, plated our meals for us first, very incredibly attentive to us for the evening, went out of their way with their time to ensure that every aspect of our day was a success) ...... to the extent, that one of the staff members actually drove several of the last people to leave home WAY out of her way went they could not get a taxi. The staff of The Red Door are salt of the earth people, with excellent food, and wonderful service. I usually review very constructively and like to point out pros and cons --- but there are no cons to share! Hire them for your next event, whether it be a lunch, dinner or celebration! read more

We worked with Reign and The Red Door Catering for our wedding at the Brazil Room in October. We did not have a wedding planner, although I do work in events and entertainment, and TRD really went above and beyond to help us organize our special day. From menu and decor suggestions to assisting us with day of organization, to giving advice on how to deal with certain unexpected concerns, Reign and her team really made our wedding spectacular! Red Door catering planned and catered a business event held in our home for 40 people. We were very impressed with their attention to detail. The first face-to-face meeting was a site visit and food planning meeting. They have an incredible selection of food - pages and pages of great food! Our party revolved around lots of appetizers so guests could have a wide variety of options. Before the party we reviewed the recommended truck route with and staff did a second site visit to confirm all logistics. The Red Door team arrived a few hours before the event and got everything set up. They made great use of the space - and we were really able just to relax and enjoy the event. I have eaten more than my fair share of bad banquet food: tasteless meat covered in some kind of unidentifiable sauce, soggy vegetables swimming in oil, and sorry salads consisting of iceberg lettuce and unripe cherry tomatoes. In fact, I've eaten so much of it that usually when I hear that lunch or dinner will be provided I just bring my own food. Not this time! I went to an event over the weekend and The Red Door catered several meals and they were all really, really good. I am the world's pickiest eater and I made an unprecedented trip back for seconds.
