After they do the service on your house they send yiu an invoice in the mail. Every once in a while when you receive the invoice it is higher than the last service. They raise the price on the invoice after the service is done without notifying the customer in advance of the price increase. Plus, whatever chemicals they are using haven't been effective lately. Had a critter in the attic on Friday. On line they had the most experience but don't work on weekends‐ it's not 1965 critters don't take weekends off. Got first appointment for Monday but a two hour window, for a first appointment?? How doe that work?? Called Monday morn to confirm, got conformation. Waited for the guy, RJ, JR or some kind of J but no show/no call! The wife and I waited in front of the house in the shade in case he missed the house. I really gotta get rid of the critter who knows what damage it will/could do. Waited 5 hours. I called the next day look for an explanation. Female answering the phone was nice but had to answers. So the employee could have tied one on the night before and overslept 5 hours no one would be the wiser? It seems to be a pattern here. Widow Co, lawn Co. Exterminator.... On the face of it, they don't owe you as a consumer anything. Dont the companies want loyalty? It seems if they show they show if don't, "O effin well". I understand things happen but communicate with the person your doing business with (the consumer). I canceled an MRI for this company. It's really off putting. Addendum I received an answer to my yelp review within 3-4 hours of my posting. Asking g to speak to me or leave my number on their site. I said wow maybe they do care. Let me give 'em a second chance. But first let me see how he made good to other complaints. My answer was a cut and paste answer as well as others he answered. If you care about your business you and the complaints personally not a cut and paste job so it looks like you're doing something on the yelp complaint. I really hate that I have to leave such a bad review because I love supporting local businesses, however, I'd hate for someone else to go through what I had to go through with this company without a warning. I'm not sure if the just have really poor quality product or if it was poor execution but I paid for post control & didnt see ANY results . I called to complain but got the basic run around & told a manager would call me back which never happened. I also have a termite contract with this same company for 8 years so when that service man came he encouraged me to call back which was a few weeks to a month later. So this time I did get a call back from some sort of manager & he was just the nastiest person I've ever had to deal with in a professional manner. I cannot believe they have this guy in this position. The bottom line is you will not get what you pay for & if you have anything to say about that you will get abused over the phone completely unwarranted. I was very pleasant in my tone with him as I am in the service industry. This masagonistic & pompous condescending man shouldn't be in this position of ever talking to the public! I cannot say if the termite part of the business is good or not because I have a block home & inherited the contract when I purchased the home 8 years ago so my chances of that problem are pretty low however whatever they use for pest control didnt work at all unless they just didnt even do it. I am writing this review , not for a generic apology but so other people don't get taken advantage of from Hughes Exterminators... Three years ago we bought a house that during inspection it was found that we had a rat infestation in our attic. We had another company at that time take care of the problem, which they did and all was good. Fast forward three years and we start seeing rats climbing the outside of the house and going on the roof. Since we had Hughes treating our yard for fleas and ant we call them. They come out look in the attic on both ends of the house and tell us we have rat droppings and tunneling in our insulation, he even went as far to show me a picture of one turd that was supposedly up on the insulation and never went on the roof to see if they were getting in through vents, which they were going to charge us for sealing 6 of them. After sitting down and talking to the Hughes tech it was going to cost us $1400.00 to take care of the rat problem. We signed work order and they were gonna start in a week. After my husband and I talked about it we decided to have someone else look at the attic, we actually had two other professionals come out separately and look. Both said nothing was in the attic. No droppings and No tunneling, and our 6 vents already had screens in them. We called our Hughes tech and canceled the work order, the tech never asked why, did we have an issue, was it the cost nothing. Just said OK and that was it. As far as the picture he showed me, lord only knows who's attic that was from. We felt like we where really taken advantage of and lied to for sure. Do your homework people!!! I recently purchased my home. The previous owner used Hughes Exterminator, so I called them for an estimate in treating my home. Hughes Exterminator sent two techincians to my home. One for termite treatment (don't have them) just wanted a quote. In addition, I requested a quote for indoor service as well. The terminate estimation was given, and then the inside techincian said it would be $100 to treat. Upon leaving, he said if there was any problem or wanted to call to initiate service to please call. I did not call. After speaking to the previous owner, he said he had a lifetime warranty on their service for termites. So I decided to give one homeowner a lifetime warranty and then tell the new owner to start from the beginning was disingenuous at best. My reason for not calling back. A month later, I was out running errands. Up until that, the times the salesperson would call consistently, trying to earn my business. After saying no to the first call, I chose not to answer the sales pitch that would continue. So a month later, after not answering any more sales calls, the salesperson came to my home announced and told my partner he had my permission to treat. He did not. When I heard about it upon returning home, I was livid. I told my spouse never to let those people in our home again. Then it started. A bill for $100 for the treatment they did not have permission to do in the first place as they entered my home fraduately without a contract or my verbal confirmation. Therefore, I DO NOT OWE THIS COMPANY $100. Then, it continues further. Day after day, call after call harassing me for an attempted ill gotten $100. How many of their customers have this happened to? Regardless, I chose not to engage this business any further. Today, I received a letter from a debt collection agency, for you guessed it was $100.00. I called the agency. They documented what I had to say and then said I needed to send a written to dispute. So now, two birds with one stone. A letter for the collection agency and a Yelp review. A year or so ago one of the technicians told me that they only do the inside every other time. I mentioned this to the technician wondering if this trip was both outside and inside. The reason I hadn't seen anything was properly maintained extermination process. Would recommend to everyone. This service was recommended by my vet since I have pets. I didn't want any harmful chemicals in my home. They were able to send a service rep. to come out and give an opinion the day after I called. I received a confirmation email immediately. The service rep. was on time, friendly, knowledgeable, and didn't try to sell us anything we didn't need. It is hard to rate because the tech was great! Also because of Covid19 we didn't have him spray indoors a few times. The problem has been right from the beginning. The trust of the person that tried to sell us the termite control, showing us a picture in his phone which was nothing like the pictures from the 4points and wind mitigation done not long before. Also the office person is very dismissive and now has become a pest calling almost every day! On August 22, 2020 we received a bill for $17, I texted and called, she made up some sort of excuse. Then we received a bill for $80 for service on 11/23/20. I called on 12/5/20 at 4:30, talked to Skyler and since I thought it was for the warranty from the time before, I told her I would not pay it. She was ok. On 12/7/20 at 10:30 I also called and talked to Susan. She said that it was for the new contract year, when I said I did not sign up or want a new contract, she said I had a "revolving contract" never heard of such thing! Not happy with this company. I am an Real Estate Agent who had a listing in Punta Gorda. The buyers agent allowed the inspector to go into the home for a termite inspection in which they found no signs of termites but found $1200 worth of rat infestation supposedly. That we are still working on disputing per photos receive. Another issue is the inspector was given one day access and as of yesterday a Hughes truck went into the home again per a neighbor who visually saw the man in the home without permission. Not acceptable. I called and spoke to the office manager and another person Dan who said they have no record of someone going into the home and unless I have a picture of the truck or # listed on the car there was nothing they can do. That's ridiculous! So they obviously have no care in the safety of peoples homes. I am fuming mad the house is vacant as the seller past away and they aren't willing to do anything to help unless I have pictures or ring doorbell video. So I am now having to call all neighbors to find out who this company had in this home. Awful! read more

We started working with Hughes Exterminators to monitor for termites right after we purchased our house. Then we had a rat problem in our attic. Hughes sent someone out immediatly to look. Yes we had rats and we signed a yearly contract with them to exterminate them. A few months later we heard the rats again and called Hughes. They were out the next day and checked the traps frequently until we felt the problem was solved. We recently heard the noises again. They came out the next day and continued trying to eradicate them. They also did a smoke test and found a potential problem with our waste pipe. They coordinated with our plumber to work together to help solve our problem. The two contractors worked as a team to search for the problem and they believe they found and fixxed it. Hughes stuck behind their work, no extra charges. We appreciate the way they stand behind their agreements and treat us as a valued customers. My mother in law was a customer of theirs for 10 yrs and always thought very highly of them. She even referred a couple of friends to them, however when we needed them to come ou lately, it took 3 calls to get the tech to even return a call. They used to have Mark R and he was awesome but now the girl in the office doesnt even know who will help us. They also used to schedule the appointments but now they dont do that and you have to wait and hope someone calls you back. They certainly dont care about customer loyalty thats for sure! If youre smart, go with someone who you can depend on. This company no longer is that company sadly and when they do spray, chances are you will need them to comeout and re do the area anyway. read more
