Flooring sold by Hughes 18 months after install.

Please do not give Hughes your business. When we purchased our floor we were very clear that we had dogs and needed something durable. The salesman, Tim, came to our house and saw our existing floor and the space the new floor would be in, including said dogs. Our current floors are 15 years old and still in great condition, btw. We tried for 6 months to resolve this issue and they would not replace the damaged floors without additional cost to us. They were horrible to work with through the entire experience. They lied about submitting the initial claim and then refused to give us a copy after asking 6 times. I have never, ever written a review in my life but cannot let someone else experience what we did. Please, do not give your money to this unethical business.

a close up view of a hardwood floor

In 2016 I contracted with Hughes Floor Covering to replacing the carpet in our master bedroom and closet with hardwood that matched the rest of our home. Hughes Floor Covering accepted the responsibility of providing hardwoods to match the home based on their expertise in the hardwood industry. They represented to us they had matched the wood in our home, and we agreed to contract with them. In November 2018 we requested an estimate from another hardwood company to sand and apply a lighter color finish to improve the look. We eventually contracted with this company during the pandemic and the work was completed in June of 2020. We found that the wood floors through most of our house are "White Oak". But much to our surprise, the wood installed by Hughes Floor Covering is "Red Oak" (has a pinkish color to it). This was not noticeable before because of the darker "natural" stain that was used and only visible by having the floors sanded and stained a lighter color. I reached out to Hughes Floor Covering and they said that since it was installed in 2016, they weren't interested in doing anything and the warranty would not cover the issue. However, the issue before us is not a warranty for defective workmanship or product. It has been discovered that Hughes Floor Covering breached the agreement by not installing the proper hardwood. It was promised as part of our agreement they would match the wood. To make sure, Hughes Floor Covering cut a sample out of our existing hardwood floor so their machine would identify the exact match and prevent this exact set of circumstances. The fact that Hughes Floor Covering has as much expertise in the industry as they do and have invested in technology that supports the accurate identification of the various would species, raises serious questions about how this breach of contract could have ever happened. The fact that they refuse to address the clear error on their part raises even more questions.

Our experience working with Flowers Flooring was excellent. My husband and I purchased our home…read morethree years ago. The previous owners had renovated/upgraded the entire house....except the kitchen. They chose a cheap peel-n-stick flooring that looked okay for maybe the first week we lived here. After that it started to pop up and simply looked dirty (even after being scrubbed). It took us three years, but we finally "bit the bullet" and started researching local flooring companies. The first quotes we received from competitors were absurdly high. We decided to give the Flowers Flooring folks a call and it was the best decision we could have made! We felt comfortable with them through the entire process. We called to set up our in-home consultation and have them an idea of what we were looking for. Andrew came out to measure our space, show us some samples, and discuss the general process with us. We liked the samples, but we thought it would be best to check out the showroom in case there was a tile we liked better. I'm glad we did! Catie was fantastic and showed us a variety of options based on our preferences and preferred price range. We actually went with one of the tiles SHE chose and not one that Andrew brought or that we had originally chose. She has a great eye! From there Catie provided us with an estimate based on our chosen tile and the measurements Andrew had taken. We paid our deposit and then in steps Renee. Renee is the master of schedules :) She coordinates a date and time that worked for us, answered any follow up questions we had, and was our general point of contact until the project was completed. The install team of Valentin, his brother, and another fellow also exceeded our expectations. They were able to move us up a day on their schedule, they showed up ON TIME, worked efficiently, and left our kitchen completely spotless. Seriously....I can't emphasize how much we enjoyed watching them work. They were so meticulous we couldn't help but peek in every now and then just out of curiosity. They're like a well-oiled machine. I told Valentin multiple times that we WILL be requesting him and the guys to be the team to install our backsplash once we pick out a tile. Looks like another trip to the showroom is in order! Thank you Flowers Flooring! We're obsessed with our new floor! -The McFalls Family I've attached a photo of the finished product! Side note....no, the kitchen isn't complete. The floors were step 1 in the kitchen renovation project :)

Avoid this business like the plague!!!! You won't believe how much of a nightmare my experience has…read morebeen with them. So it starts back in May 2023. We put a deposit of $18,500 down to have Flowers Flooring install our laminate floors. After one month of delays, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, perhaps business is good and they're schedule is full. So I didn't complain. I stayed patient. But then, one more month passed, and so I reached out and began expressing my frustration with how long it has taken. They reassured me and promised the job would get done. But then, after a couple of more weeks of silence, we ended up hiring another company to do the job. Flowers Flooring said they would issue a full refund and that it would take up to 30 days to process. After about 40 days, I reached out to them asking what the status of the refund was. After all, $18,500 is a lot of money. But, after 2-3 days, we didn't get any response from Flowers. We even tried reaching out directly to the owner, and can you guess what happened? That's right, nothing. Radio silence. And so after 3 months of delays, 48 days of silence after requesting a refund, and a lot of frustration, we decided to escalate matters and reach out to our credit card company to file a dispute. Our credit card company gave us a provisional credit of $18,500 and is looking into the matter as we speak. Folks, I know there are a lot of you out there who are owed money from this criminal company. If you paid with a credit card, you are legally protected by the Fair Credit Billing Act of 1974. Open a case and get your money back! Even if you didn't pay with a credit card, contact your bank and open a dispute! We work too hard for our money to have dishonest people steal from us.
