Was a great stop for late-night food. It looked unassuming but the staff were friendly and the service was quick! The small subs were actually large portions and the bread was super soft and fresh! The food here is GREAT! It kind of looks like it's in the ghetto side, but it's great food (PROMISE). From the picture that I had up, you can tell that it's a HUGE sandwhich. When you order inside, they give you chips on the side (which you're too busy eating the sandwhich to eat the chips but it's nice of them) and when you order to go (from what I heard) you don't get the chips. But again, still well worth the price - $9 for a large sandwhich. Tons of meat, tons of pickles on the side, and jalapenos! Freaken delicious, the wait was kind of long so I suggest ordering first and picking up later. read more

I use to love this place. A local go to favorite. Unfortunately after today I don't think I will order again . We found several pieces of human hair in our food. When I let them know about this I was informed that we would have to return the food to get replacement items. The thought of more food with the hair off a stranger buried in it turned my stomach. As I was told this I gave the uneaten food to my dog and told them the dog ate it. All I heard was excuses about how it couldn't have come from them. They made no effort at customer service and kept telling me to talk then talking over me. We had been loyal customers for almost 20 years. This was the first time we ever had an issue. And it was also the last time we will ever eat or recommend Hugo to anyone. read more

I ate here once while visiting family in town and the sandwiches are amazing and HUGE ! Like the biggest sandwiches I've ever seen in my life . My husband and I split one and it was STILL big . The only thing is that the wait is crazy long so I would call ahead . Also you're better off eating out of the restaurant anyways because it's a bit dingy . Could use a clean up . But great food. Constantly getting my order wrong. Horribly overpriced. Funny they have the order correct over the phone and somehow it still ALWAYS manages to be incorrect when it arrives. Ask for a pita, get a regular bun instead. Ask for no salsa on the taco salad, get it DROWNED in salsa. I couldn't even eat it. Literally all I could taste was salsa. We frequent Hugo's especially with friends for a cheap eat. It usually takes a while to get our food, and we've had multiple times where hair has ended up in our meal or drink, but for cheap greasy food, it's a nice place to go. Portions are nice and big and the food is good. I haven't had a bad tasting meal from Hugo's. Service speed and food safety is something they can work on though. read more

Have been to Hugo's a few times and love it! The Deluxe pizza is heaping with yummy toppings! Ordered the Philly Cheesecake sub a few times it was so tasty and I had leftovers for 2 days! My daughter has ordered a pineapple pizza and a California burger with fries which she enjoyed. I decided to have a delivery of a California burger and was surprised with the friendly service and $1 delivery fee :) the burger was good quality meat and delicious! I love this place read more

Service is slow like snail slow. We got there about 1:40. We got our food at almost 3. The milk came in sm the iced tea came in brisk bottle the pop must of had the dispenser the other drinks came in prepackaged food container. The pizza was kind of so so. I didn't know you could choose thin or thick crust. My friend had the chicken alfredo it was on a what looked like a pound of spaghetti with two chicken breasts on top with sauce and cheese he said it was ok but he wouldn't go back. Apparently the burgers are good as my friend had a California though he ordered a Hawaiian same food in all categories sandwhich , burger, gyros. Out in Gary not much there. They deliver out there. I have eaten here many times. The food is very good especially the pizza. I don't think there is anything on the menu that I have not liked. Service is very slow and delivery takes about an hour for anything. The delivery drivers are very professional and do not speed or look unprofessional. Very polite. When my fiance and I moved to West Duluth we were excited to be in the delivery zone for Hugo's...that changed quickly. The last three times we've ordered haven't been real impressive. The last time we ordered which will be the last time we even consider them again was horrible. Not only did we wait over and hour and a half for a couple cheeseburgers...upon calling to see the status of the delivery, the female provided no apology and instead an "it's on the way," CLICK. When our food finally did arrive it was obvious it had sat out way too long. Coleslaw and dips made to be cold were as warm as soup, onion rings and french fries were soggy and the cheeseburgers were distgusting. We will never be ordering from Hugo's again. read more

The food is good and so are the portions but WORSE SERVICE EVER!!! If you want dinner delivered by 6p order around 4p. No joke. They forgot my fries 2x. (First time they forgot they gave me a free order the next time I ordered. That order took an hour and a half to be delivered. I actually had to leave for work before we got our food. The second time I ordered about 6mos later and told them I had a free order of fries coming they forgot them again. They said they'd deliver them ASAP. It took 25 min to get them). If it's good food with great portion but service and delivery sucks is it worth it? They used to be awesome when I first bought my house 10yrs ago. MAYBE I'll try it again in another 6mos but probably not as my husband hates the service and delivery time! read more
