When asked about further specifics not considered in that response, he became dismissive, giving evasive answers. In short, the intellectual and professional deficiencies of Chugh were both obvious and egregious. I have discussed the same issues with GPs and doctors from unrelated specialties that had a better understanding of nephrology than Chugh. An example of his patient care is what just happened to me on my vacation to New England, when he rescued me after a Dexcom G7 BGM failed. His quick assistance and willingness to help were amazing. Here's what happened. I had packed one additional G7 for the trip. Because my current G7 got caught on clothing and was ripped off my arm, I inserted my new "spare" G7. That G7 BGM, upon insertion, had an immediate hardware failure- displaying a failed sensor; replace immediately. I had no other G7's with me. This all happened while: I was on vacation 2,800 miles away. There was a 3-hour time zone difference between Arizona and my vacation location on the East Coast. This happened at the worst of times, on a SUNDAY at 6:00 am Arizona time. Panic definitely set in. I started calling everyone. Most responses were "We are closed; call back during regular business hours, Monday through Friday." I had no other G7's with me, and Dr. Moussa's quick, remote assistance showed his genuine dedication to patient support, especially during emergencies. After such a failure from Dr. Singh, I canceled my appointment and requested my ultrasound test to be posted on my portal and sent to my PCP. His office refused. I want to recognize someone that was extraordinary and went out of his way to help me. I will NEVER forget Mike Kenney-in security! I had just found out my father was having emergency surgery. I raced to the hospital. My dad was waiting in a room at the er. He was going to Pre Op. Mr. Kenney hustled me back to the room-and I was sad to see the bed was gone. He had been taken to pre op. Mr. Kenney could tell I was upset bc I didn't get to see my elderly dad before he went to emergency surgery. He quickly advised me the fastest way to see him. I know this doesn't seem like a lot-but I am forever grateful bc I got to spend time with him right before surgery. I was also there to support my mom who was very worried. If it weren't for Mike-I wouldn't have been there for my mom or got to hug my dad. I am forever grateful. He didn't have to go out of his way to help me. I will say not all staff will fall in this category but unfortunately the one nurse on the 4th floor, Pavilion 2 orthopedic unit RUDE!!! There's no reason to come into work with an attitude when your patients and their family members are helping with their recovery. Thank goodness she wasn't his nurse just a rude one at the nurses station. They always say family is a part of a patients care and the only thing I inquired about was someone to come and clean a restroom because housekeeping wasn't there yesterday and he didn't want to sit on it. If you know you know how some meds will do you. But that nurse stood out the most for her rudeness. I get it, we're all stressed but don't be rude for an already stressful situation. But the other staff I found to be nice and accommodating and made sure I was comfortable knowing I was staying with my family member. Thank you to the staff that showed up to their jobs as professionals. What I've learned, you can't be a voice for the patient and leave the morning crew alone. Terrible!!! UPDATE: My family member wanted me to make sure to give a special thank you to Ms. Teresa in housekeeping, even she stated if the bathroom ever looks like that again to call her. She gave us her card with the number. Also there were a couple of male nurses John and I forget the really tall male nurse that helped him out of bed and the other male nurse that got me a warm blanket and checked vitals. This is the type of professionalism that we look for in nursing. So the nurses that took care of my family member on July 18th! Thank you. July 19th is when he started complaining about his care.
