My family has used Hull's Chapel service for both my paternal grandparents and my maternal grandfather. The people here are super nice and very helpful and caring to us. When my paternal grandparents used their services, they took care of and helped dress my grandparents for our viewing services rather well. They never bothered us but were attentive in case of our need. And when we were ready to use the furnace, they were extremely helpful and understanding for our time. Recently, we used their service again for my maternal grandfather. Everything was as I remembered (previous time was 2020), and the service and hospitality for us was great. Once again, we used the space of the chapel to hold the service for my grandfather and when it was time, the gentlemen closed the casket with sincerity and respect. Overall, I highly recommend this place for cremation services. The pricing was very fair for what we wanted for a 6 hour Open Casket Viewing and the service is top notch. read more

I'm so thankful to have found Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel when my dad passed away. They treated me with so much kindness and respect at every interaction. The process to cremate my dad was simple; they explained pricing for exactly what I wanted and didn't upsell me at any point. Another funeral home was quoting me almost 2x the price at Hull's and listing a lot of other additional fees. We had a simple family-only viewing at the chapel, and I'm very thankful for how they presented my dad. He looked very peaceful, and it brought me a lot of comfort. I also appreciate the memorial website Hull's provides, because it's more elegant and easier to use than the commercial alternatives. They were able to make a couple of corrections to the initial obituary I provided. My wife recently died and I was eager to get her ashes returned ASAP... The hassles I encountered w/ the cremation process was just another unnecessary thing I would choose to avoid under the circumstances... First note I only write reviews if I have something to really admire or something to say that others should avoid... I did my research and read the reviews and made numerous phone calls... We played phone tag, or one place that opened at 8:30 but were still not in the office at 9:30... The thing that irritated me most was that when asked when I could have my wife back the standard reply was 4 week and when pushed maybe 3 weeks... Another important thing to understand is there are very few that are not corporate related outfits so inherently they are not as efficient as a solely owned place... All I called used crematory facilities outside of Walnut Creek and used facilities elsewhere like Oakland or Livermore... Now days there is only one place that offers all services (including the cremation) on site... Everything is done inhouse and therefore by nature is much more efficient... Called Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel and had a meeting w/n an hour... They have their own crematorium on the site... They offer any services you may need and then some... W/n less than a week everything had been done and they were waiting for the required death certificate... They did all the paperwork including social security etc etc etc... The man that helped me was a very kind gentle soul and would like him as a neighbor or friend... He did not act in a hurry and informed me beforehand all the information I would need for all the paperwork... I would rate Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel a PERFECT 10 Star... Recently, our family made arrangements for a visitation & follow on church funeral service for our Mother, who passed away early this year, through Hull's Walnut Creek Chapel. Our initial contact with Patrick Hull, two hours after our Mom died, was disappointing. His first question was "Do you have an appointment?" He took us through a check list of unfamiliar options, which was overwhelming. We felt Mr Hull was condescending & insensitive in our time of grief. Once paperwork & payment were processed we moved on. Although we were told by Mark Hull we were slightly past the time frame for obituary submission, he was able to get CC Times to publish the next day. Thereafter, we were delighted with services provided by both Mary & Doug. They demonstrated exceptional professionalism & care for all arrangements with the chapel, the church, & the cemetery. They dealt with family, friends, & our Mom with dignity & respect. I hate to review this location based on the circumstances, as I recently attended a memorial service here, but they deserve a round of applause. The staff was very accommodating when the Chapel became overwhelmingly full. They were able to take down some windows in the back so guests could stand in the lobby area and still see the service. The Chapel itself is small, yet intimate, and there is plenty of parking around the building. I'm pretty sure this place has been here for years, as it seems to be the only business in the area that I recognize (the storage facility across the way used to be my old gymnastics center!) Bill Hull is such a gracious man, We just had a service at Hulls Chapel for my Father. It was so beautiful, Bill made the process run so smoothly, from beginning to end. My sisters and I can be pains in the butt, we had a lot of things that we wanted done to honor my Father and make sure that his memorial was all that it could be, Bill made sure that all of our wishes came true. We showed up the day before the memorial and he was so kind to all of us. The Hulls Chapel is a family run business and that is what makes it so intimate, it isn't your run of the mill commercial funeral home that has no warmth to it. Dad passed away on St. Patrick's Day and Mark and his staff were very compassionate and thorough. My sister and I had contacted them months earlier knowing that his end was near. A few days before his passing, I had sat down with Mark and got most of the paperwork done, picked out a wooden box for his ashes and told him that dad was a WWII Army veteran. They contacted Dept of the Army and got everything ready for him. There was never any rush or pressure to get anything extra as dad wanted something simple and to be cremated. We had the best experience possible in the hardest time in a families life. My father passed away on Sep. 10, after calling several places to make final arrangements, we spoke with Bill at Hulls by a recommendation. We signed papers with Doug on the 12th at a price comparable with the Neptune society but with much better service, and had my dads ashes back by Tuesday the 16th. In May of this year, it became evident that my Moms journey here on earth was coming to an end. Because Hulls was the funeral home of choice for my family for over 50 years, I contacted them via email the week before my mom passed away. I received a very kind email back with all the information I needed to proceed when the time came. My mom passed away at 1:00 am on May 5th. Hulls came within an hour of being called by hospice. The two men that came to get her treated us with compassion and her with dignity and respect. We met with Hulls that afternoon to make the arrangements for her and again we were treated with compassion. They coordinated with the burial location in Sacramento and the up in the air details since we had to disintern my father to accomodate my mother. The funeral was in the morning, then a lunch reception, then we drove to Sacramento at 2:00 PM on a Friday! They did all of this without a blink of an eye. They also managed my anxiety over my mothers appearance for her viewing. They colored her hair (she was too sick at the end to have it done and would never let anyone see her otherwise) and did a beautiful job with her makeup and clothing. Veteran's beware!! This place is ridiculous. I called a few days after my grandmother passed away for some basic information not only were they about $1000 more than another place they were extremely rude. Anyway I wanted to have my grandmother buried in the national cemetery, but did not have my grandfather's discharge paperwork. I had already contacted the national cemetery and they said it's not a problem go ahead and find a mortuary and you can start the process. I have never come across more resistance and unprofessionalism. They told me I was wrong and I should find another place to go. I was so angry with tears and frustration that a place would be so cold and evil at a time when all you want is understanding. Anyway I ended up going with another local place that had no problem helping me and was so awesome in helping me. I have never written a yelp review before but trust me I have almost come close many times this place is so wrong and the fact they have "five" stars scares me and they reason I called. They were referred to us early morning by a kind officer at Rossmoor. From the get-go, Patrick Hull's demeanor is perenially calm. It was our first time to handle such matters for the family as my father-in-law passed away abruptly so we needed hand holding so to speak through the process. Patrick was very patient with our inquiries and we never felt hurried or pressured, more so a mere statistic to this 100 years old family establishment. There really is something to be said about their experience and continued service to the community. Patrick's sensitivity to our concerns was quite impressive. He made sure that all the set-up were carried out to our specifications (from the obit, reception, AV needs, etc.), truly an all-around guy. Their staff member, Martin was a joy to work with as well. It's also nice that they both know how to work well with our parish, Christ the King Church. When everything was said and done, we felt that their collective sympathetic consciousness of others' distress together with a desire to alleviate our sorrows went beyond good customer service.
