On August 4th, my family suffered the devastating loss of my brother and trusted Diablo Valley Funeral Home to prepare him with dignity and respect. Instead, we were met with shocking negligence. The embalming was done incorrectly, and at his funeral there were flies on his body and a foul odor so strong that even masks couldn't block it. We debated going with this business or another that came in a little lower priced. I spoke to the owner directly and he was very friendly and accommodating. Based on that call we decided to work with Diablo Valley and determined that you get the service that you pay for. The entire process was easy, friendly and professional. We were on a timeline for cremation because we needed to fly home. They kept us on track with daily emails and updates of what we needed to do and where they were in the process. They got us the remains and death certificate on time and informed us the second it was ready. I would highly recommend their services. read more

If we are fortunate, then a time will come when our family will be old and eventually need these services. My family is very old with many Aunts & Uncles, and I'm the person designated to make these arrangements. I've used this funeral home on five different occasions and I highly recommend them. I first used their services over 10 years ago with the then owner Garry on three separate occasions and he was wonderful. In 2022, I used their services under the new ownership, and was very happy with Funeral Director Tom O. who helped us with an interstate funeral, and went above and beyond. And most recently I hired them on December 23, 2023, and I worked with Funeral Director Tom Luzod for a second interstate funeral and he was wonderful. Tom Luzod is a responsible person that I trust fully, and he was gracious to our family throughout. My mother lived with me in Pleasant Hill for the last two years of her life. About a year ago, it became clear that she was nearing the end of her days. Being the planner that mom is, she selected a funeral home and a location for her services. When the time came to actually need such services, the funeral home and the church mom selected were both booked out several weeks. We frantically called around looking for a location that could take care of mom. My sister-in-law found Diablo Valley Funeral Home, and we could not be more pleased that we did. They had the day we wanted available. They went to pick up my mother's remains from the other funeral home. They helped us plan the service, and talked through every aspect of the process. Diablo Valley even helped file insurance papers, even though they had been paid in full, and were not to receive any insurance proceeds. We received outstanding service, and at a very fair and competitive price. The team is very respectful in handling all faiths and cultures. I rarely leave yelp reviews, but in this case, I needed to write one for Diablo Valley Funeral Home. My 35-year-old sister passed away unexpectedly on 5/18/22. We were completely grief-stricken and did not know where to begin. I researched a couple funeral homes in the area (we live in San Ramon) and Diablo Valley Funeral Home was on our list of places to check out. As soon as we walked into the funeral home, we felt like we were in someone's living room. It was so light and welcoming with couches and chairs. We were greeted by the funeral director, Mark, who is absolutely amazing. Mark immediately expressed his condolences and wanted to help from the minute we walked in. Mark was extremely compassionate and consoled us. He assured us that he would be with us every step of the way. Mark helped us plan every moment in my sister's celebration of life. From transferring my sister from the hospital all the way to her cremation and everything in between, Mark assisted us in every way he could. He went over the service with us step by step and allowed us to customize her celebration of life however we wanted. If there was something we wanted done, Mark made it happen. He was also very transparent on prices and costs for different things we wanted included. He was very informant and made sure we had everything we needed. He was available to answer questions any time and even went as far as to give us his personal cell number. Mark made himself and the funeral home available any time we needed. The funeral home is very comforting and inviting. It has a large, beautiful chapel with plenty of seating. It also has a monitor to play slideshows. It has a beautiful outdoor area with a waterfall and seating. There is also plenty of parking. They truly help with whatever you need. I had a bit of trouble getting the slideshow to play at home and when I took it to the funeral home to make sure it would play, Mark and Patrick fiddled around with it and got it to play. Patrick, who is so nice, caring and helpful, along with Mark made sure the slideshow would work and they really came through. My sister's celebration of life was beautiful and far exceeded my expectations. Mark stayed the whole day with us making sure everything went perfectly. I got a lot of compliments on how wonderful the service was and how nice the funeral home was. In our time of sorrow, Mark was there for us all the way.
