I was looking at mortuaries, alone with an unfamiliar duty in an unfamiliar location. I finally turned to Yelp to see what was posted about mortuaries I'd looked at when David from Honor Cremations popped up to say he thought he could help me. I truly felt an instant feeling of safety and trust. Sometimes we're lucky enough to get guidance. David is kind, sympathetic and morale. I spent the next several years feeling secure for when the time came. One of the few things I was able to feel secure about. When my husband did pass in the middle of the night in the veteran hospital hospice, they knew to call Honor. Because it might take time for Honor to arrive, the hospital wanted to take my husband to their mortuary and I refused saying we would wait for Honor. I trusted them and knew he'd be in good hands and those feelings were right. The gentleman who arrived to take my husband helped the nurse prepare him so when he came out of the room he was draped in the American flag. With everything else my husband and I went through with the change in care facilities, finances, and just 'handling it all' as my husband's condition worsened over the years, David's honesty and compassion took this step off my shoulders. I have purchased Honor Cremation for myself, so our children have the confidence to know everything will be taken care of. Thank you David and Honor Cremations. When so many unexpected doors closed with years-long tragedy, you offered a safe open door.

Losing a parent is incredibly hard, but they handled everything with such a high level of dignity and grace that it truly eased some of the burden for us. Communication: From the very first call, I felt heard and supported. They were incredibly patient with all of my questions and kept me updated every step of the way, which gave me so much peace of mind. The Process: I found their approach to be very modern, transparent, and straightforward. There was never any pressure or "salesy" feeling, just genuine empathy and a focus on what my mother and our family needed. The Memorial: They helped us navigate the details for her memorial with so much respect. Everything was handled professionally, allowing us to focus on honoring her memory rather than worrying about the logistics. I am so grateful to have had their guidance during this time. If you are looking for a team that treats your loved ones with true honor and provides a seamless, compassionate experience, I cannot recommend them highly enough. I also really appreciated the honesty in their business model. I know it could technically be cheaper if they did every single thing in-house, but they intentionally use outside sources for certain steps to ensure everything is handled by specialists. I actually felt like I got more value this way because I knew I was getting the best possible care at every stage. It's also worth noting for other families that they don't have an embalming service; they focus purely on a dignified, natural process which was exactly what we wanted for my mom. I am so grateful to have had their guidance during this time. If you are looking for a team that treats your loved ones with true honor and provides a seamless, compassionate experience, I cannot recommend them highly enough. Thank you, Honor Cremation, for taking such wonderful care of my mom.

So you can imagine the state I was in when it actually happened. I've never dealt with death on this level before, more less have it be my spouse and very best friend. My sister did a lot of googling and researching to help me find a place to make arrangements. She called Diablo Valley Cremation and told me she had a really good feeling about them. We made an appt, but were actually able to come down anytime. We sat down and spoke to Bari, who was above and beyond compassionate and professional. She explained everything so gently, and it was almost as if there was nothing I had to worry about or do outside of grieving my dear husband. I knew she was the perfect fit to care for my husbands passing. She handled everything, and I mean everything. Her communication was top notch and extremely easy to get ahold of in case I had any questions or needing to talk about something. We set up a viewing before cremation, and she was at my and my families side as support throughout the entire experience. My husband looked wonderful. Although it was heartbreaking, Bari made it less horrible. We all hugged her, she made us feel comforted and safe in what we were going through. Bari has turned out to be such an invaluable and amazing partner in this tragic journey of mine. I've had to stop at the business several times to drop off cremation necklaces, my husband's urn, and pick things up. Each time I hugged and thanked her. She even got full handprints of my husband for me, not just the complimentary fingerprints. She genuinely has put so much love, care and concern into my husband, myself and our kids. The entire experience. Bari, I know I thank you so often. But I need to reiterate that I couldn't have gotten through these horrific first steps of my husbands death without your kind and gentle soul. We hope you're able to make it to the service, we'd be honored to have you. With endless gratitude and love, The Lindborg Family

Unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing and added unnecessary stress during one of the most difficult times in our lives. We were informed at the last minute that the funeral home would not be creating the memorial video as promised, leaving our family to produce it ourselves under tremendous emotional pressure. We were then told just one day before the services that the funeral programs also would not be completed, forcing our family to scramble to prepare and print them at our own expense. Most distressing of all were the concerns regarding the condition of our loved one during the viewing and funeral services. What appeared to be excessive embalming fluid leakage was upsetting to family members and took away from what should have been a dignified opportunity to say goodbye. The combination of unfulfilled services, poor communication, last-minute surprises, and the condition of our loved one made an already painful experience even more difficult. We have requested an explanation, the embalmer's information, and reimbursement for services that were not provided as agreed. Families place an enormous amount of trust in a funeral home during their most vulnerable moments. Sadly, our experience did not reflect the level of professionalism, compassion, or preparation we expected.

Their work reflected not just professionalism, but generosity and heart. They made us feel supported, seen, and understood during an emotional and significant weekend for our family. We are especially humbled by their offer to name the veterans memorial section at Monte Vista in Lt. Kelly's memory. We understand that T.W. That representation mattered to us. We chose this space for a reason. It has been a huge part of our grieving process and allows us to "do" things for our son. Recently, Oakmont removed and threw away all of our items from our son's memorial space, including items that were not prohibited. These were not random decorations -- they were personal, sentimental memorial items placed with love and care over time. What makes this even worse is that Carriage Services customer service initially seemed understanding and told me they would get back to me by last week. They did not. So at this point, in addition to the distress of having meaningful items discarded, we are also being met with silence from carriage services (Oakmont apparently follows their direction?!?). Oakmont has been kind to me post throwing away my sons items but has no answers and will no longer honor the space to be used as sold. If Oakmont intended to treat these boulder spaces the same as standard grave spaces, that should have been made clear at the time of sale. It was not. These spaces were sold with the understanding that families had greater freedom to create a personal memorial. Throwing away memorial items without clear notice, while failing to follow up afterward, is deeply upsetting and unacceptable. Not so much as a phone call prior to trashing his items despite no rules against boulders having items ever employed. Families deserve honesty about what they are buying, clear rules, and basic respect. A place that was once a place of healing and peace is now a place of trauma. Apparently after calling carriage services, they are putting items on shelves - so if you have a space you may have the opportunity to retrieve your items - an opportunity we weren't given.
