After losing our son to a 4 day battle with Leukemia, we purchased a boulder memorial space at…read moreOakmont based on the clear representation that it was different from a traditional grave site -- that this space was yours to personalize and decorate, with things like garden items, sculptures, and other meaningful memorial touching items . That representation mattered to us. We chose this space for a reason. It has been a huge part of our grieving process and allows us to "do" things for our son. Recently, Oakmont removed and threw away all of our items from our son's memorial space, including items that were not prohibited. These were not random decorations -- they were personal, sentimental memorial items placed with love and care over time. What makes this even worse is that Carriage Services customer service initially seemed understanding and told me they would get back to me by last week. They did not. So at this point, in addition to the distress of having meaningful items discarded, we are also being met with silence from carriage services (Oakmont apparently follows their direction?!?). Oakmont has been kind to me post throwing away my sons items but has no answers and will no longer honor the space to be used as sold. If Oakmont intended to treat these boulder spaces the same as standard grave spaces, that should have been made clear at the time of sale. It was not. These spaces were sold with the understanding that families had greater freedom to create a personal memorial. Throwing away memorial items without clear notice, while failing to follow up afterward, is deeply upsetting and unacceptable. Not so much as a phone call prior to trashing his items despite no rules against boulders having items ever employed. Families deserve honesty about what they are buying, clear rules, and basic respect. A place that was once a place of healing and peace is now a place of trauma. Apparently after calling carriage services, they are putting items on shelves - so if you have a space you may have the opportunity to retrieve your items - an opportunity we weren't given.

Instead, we were met with shocking negligence. The embalming was done incorrectly, and at his funeral there were flies on his body and a foul odor so strong that even masks couldn't block it. Guests were visibly uncomfortable and left questioning the care he received. Afterward, the funeral home admitted the embalmer hadn't done the job correctly and that my brother still needed more time to be prepared -- yet they never told us beforehand. This robbed us of leaving our last memory with him in peace, turning it into something even more painful and traumatic. This was more than a mistake; it was a profound failure to treat a human being with the basic dignity he deserved. Their negligence has left us still living a nightmare, deepening our grief and leaving a wound that will never fully heal.

My dad lost his battle with cancer, and saying goodbye to him was the hardest experience I have ever faced. Priscilla handled all of the cemetery arrangements, while George managed the funeral, church, and burial services with incredible compassion and professionalism. During a time filled with grief, stress, and uncertainty, George and Priscilla were a source of comfort and guidance. They made a very difficult process feel seamless and treated our family with kindness, dignity, and genuine care every step of the way. They far exceeded our expectations, and I truly don't know what we would have done without them. Queen of Heaven is a beautiful and peaceful cemetery nestled in the foothills of Lafayette. The grounds are serene and impeccably maintained, and the chapel is one of the most beautiful cemetery churches I have ever seen. Knowing my dad rests in such a special place brings our family comfort. I was also told they offer a monthly Saturday memorial service to honor and remember loved ones who have recently passed. As Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, I find myself reflecting on my dad's life and the impact cancer has on so many families. This month, I completed a cycling fundraiser to help raise awareness and support the fight against cancer in memory of my dad and for all those who have passed away or continue to battle this disease. It reminded me how precious life truly is. What I've learned through this journey is simple: if there are things you've always wanted to do, places you've wanted to see, or people you've wanted to spend time with, do it now. Don't wait. Life is precious, and it passes by far too quickly. Thank you, George, Priscilla, and the entire team at Queen of Heaven. This review may be long overdue, but our gratitude remains just as strong today as it was a year ago. We will never forget your kindness, compassion, and the comfort you brought our family during our darkest days. In loving memory of my dad.

Losing a parent is incredibly hard, but they handled everything with such a high level of dignity and grace that it truly eased some of the burden for us. Communication: From the very first call, I felt heard and supported. They were incredibly patient with all of my questions and kept me updated every step of the way, which gave me so much peace of mind. The Process: I found their approach to be very modern, transparent, and straightforward. There was never any pressure or "salesy" feeling, just genuine empathy and a focus on what my mother and our family needed. The Memorial: They helped us navigate the details for her memorial with so much respect. Everything was handled professionally, allowing us to focus on honoring her memory rather than worrying about the logistics. I am so grateful to have had their guidance during this time. If you are looking for a team that treats your loved ones with true honor and provides a seamless, compassionate experience, I cannot recommend them highly enough. I also really appreciated the honesty in their business model. I know it could technically be cheaper if they did every single thing in-house, but they intentionally use outside sources for certain steps to ensure everything is handled by specialists. I actually felt like I got more value this way because I knew I was getting the best possible care at every stage. It's also worth noting for other families that they don't have an embalming service; they focus purely on a dignified, natural process which was exactly what we wanted for my mom. Customer service: 5/5 Value: 3.5/5 Execution: 5/5 From a service standpoint, they excellent. The team is available 24 hours via phone and text. For the majority of my work with them, they were extremely responsive, had good pass downs between shifts and team members, and worked to meet all our needs and timelines. They never pressured us into anything or upsold us. They just wanted to support whatever we needed. My family needed an expedited cremation and memorial all within a week of my family member passing and Honor Cremations was able to make that happen and get the paperwork done with the county in that timeframe. Honor's paid casket option was cheaper than other crematories and was a very nice, presentable casket. Honor does not embalm in house but has embalming providers they can work with. The only reason I would hesitate to select Honor again is because other crematories were more cost effective (up to $1000 cheaper for our package selections), but Honor did what they could to reduce costs and provide flexible options and offerings. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others if service and empathy is a top priority.
