We had a wonderful experience with Hultgren funeral home after my mother's death. She had done some pre-planning which was wonderful, but when you are sitting there making decisions it is still a difficult time. Tim Hultgren walked us through the whole process and thought of everything we needed to do. He gently and carefully guided us though the whole process. He also kept in good communication with us and responded quickly to any questions that came up. Scott was helpful and kind when we had the visitation. He took care of all the pictures and things that we had left at the funeral home for the visitation for me to pick up later. They did everything possible to allow us to focus on the people involved, not on taking care of the details. We could tell we were in good hands. You can really tell that the people who work there are sincere about taking care of the bereaved. They are totally trustworthy not only with your loved one, but also with all the details. read more

Tim was exceptional in working with us to develop on short notice an extremely successful program with a visitation and service. He had a comforting demeanor and provided excellent guidance and suggestions as we developed our plans and schedule without being forceful. He provided fast turnaround on all items and completed an excellent draft of an obituary. The facilities were very nice - clean, well-decorated, and a good size. Parking was also good and very accessible. Tim also worked well with us in integrating our music and songs into the service. Scott and the entire staff at Hultgren Funeral Home were so thoughtful and compassionate with our needs at this difficult time and they made sure the family was comfortable. The staff was always available and informative and took whatever time needed to answer all of our questions about their services. Every aspect of this time was accommodated right down to a place for children to play or watch a movie video in the lower level as well as serve as a place for adults to have a brief moment for a cup of coffee and refreshments, etc. The ONLY thing that might be helpful to families is for the home to offer and include refreshments in their service options, ie. a cookie tray and/or cheese cracker tray. While this is a minor suggestion, it could prove to be beneficial at a time when families already have so much to think about. None the less, our family is very grateful and thankful to Hultgren Funeral Home for the care and services they provided to us. read more

Our parents prearranged their funeral with the Hultgren staff. In my fathers recent passing in another state, Hultgren was clearly on top of the situation and cared for all of the arrangements for his transport back to Wheaton. All the prior arrangements were honored and Tim and his staff went out of their way to help us through this difficult time. We want to especially note how all of our, at times incessant, questions were answered without showing any frustration with us and our lack of experience in arranging things like funerals. It was a blessing to be able to work with Hultgren's for my mom's funeral. They were so informative as the process began and guided us through each step. It was especially difficult trying to deal with funeral plans and the obituary from a distance in a short period of time but they helped with these things via email and were in contact with the pastor, etc. about the funeral service. We really liked their facility for the visitation. It was a comfortable setting, there was a room set aside for the family on the main level, and another area downstairs for family or friends to have some food or to visit. It worked very well for our children and their young children. Everyone at Hultgren's is very kind and they make you feel as if your group is the only one they are caring for. We used Hultgren Funeral Home, they're partnered with Christian Funeral Services (CFS), for my brother's funeral. We used CFS for both my brother and his mother, who both unexpectedly passed. They did an incredible job preparing him for viewing considering it had been almost a week before they were able to get him to their establishment. They were very sensitive to our emotional needs, gave us the preparation and help we needed, and kept it an affordable pricepoint for us seeing as how we're unsure of the benefits my brother had. My family found the experience with Hultgren's funeral home to be everything we could have hoped for. They were kind, thoughtful, and on top of everything. My father died at the age of 92. We wrote an obituary with Tim Hultgren that we sent out to family and friends and placed in the newspaper. We planned the service with Tim. The video and picture boards of my father's life was a great way to share stories with all who came to the service. My mother is so glad that we had a service to celebrate my dad's life. The playing of taps at the gravesite by the Navy was a fitting closure to the day and was treasured by my mom. We engaged Hultgren Funeral Home following the death of my daughter, a mom with several children, the youngest 3 years old. She died of an aggressive form of cancer and it was a hard time for us and for her husband. We particularly appreciated the eagerness of Hultgren's to adapt to our specific situation and our needs. There were several nice touches, such as providing additional holy cards at no cost, making some of the external arrangements for us as we were too overwhelmed. We really liked their practice of scheduling only a single wake in the location at one time.
