I grew up going to a funeral home on the other side of Schaumburg, on Golf road. I always found it old and outdated. I've attended dozens of funerals of family and friends there. This was my first time at Salerno's and I was expecting the same, but was pleasantly surprised at the modern amenities at this home. The main interior is bright and doesn't feel somber as you walk through. The staff seemed polite and courteous and the seating was comfortable and plentiful. I said goodbye to one of my oldest friend's father last week and I found this funeral home a perfect place to honor him. He has was a former US Marine, so there was a flag ceremony that will live in my memory for a long time. This would be a great location for your service. read more

Horrible customer service and communication, especially the night my father died, It took them fours to come get my dad, with one person I had to help Deadlift my dad onto the gurney so my dad could be put in the van, Also trying to get a death certificate from them is will take forever as I don't have it as I am writing this review, they will give you the run around because they made a mistake and gave both copies to one person and not giving the respective parties their copies they ordered and have billed for, We are grieving but we can't because we have stress dealing with this company. Sometimes a simple 'sorry' just doesn't cut it. My Grandfather was a United States Marine who fought in the Korean war and loved his country. Last month he passed away, and a few weeks ago he was buried without the military funeral honors he deserved because the people at Salerno's Rosedale Chapels of Roselle 'forgot to file the papers'... and then blamed it on Uncle Sam. So yeah. You can stuff your sorries in a sack, Salerno's. On the night of the wake, I wrote Salerno's Funeral Chapel a 5 star, glowing review and then less than 24 hours later, I found myself hoping to see their business go down at the hands of my newly updated and much deserved (and still VERY generous) 2 star review. I waited a month to write this review to make sure it wasn't just the grievance anger talking, but I still felt the same, so here it goes... There are oopsie daisies, there are wuh ohs, there are mistakes and there are epic fails. Salerno's, you outdid all the labels with the level of negligence and degradation you showed my deceased Grandfather and his mourning family. A funeral complete with Military Funeral Honors, servicemen, pallbearers, a salute and Taps should have been what he received. Instead, his 3 living sons and one grandson (all the men left to the namesake) carried him out on their own, only to be told on the spot as we were waiting at the cemetery that the military servicemen 'just didn't show up' and that that they 'have a lot so people's funeral's to attend, and they can't be at all of them." First off, my Grandpa was not 'a lot of people', he was my grandfather, he was a father, husband, uncle, great-grandfather, a US Marine and more. Their line about having 'lots of people's funerals' was disrespectful enough without finding out later that day after doing my own digging through the USMC's casualty office, that Salerno's had lied and actually just plain forgotten to do their job and allow my Grandfather his last rightful honor. Salerno's did end up calling me back regarding my inquiry as to why he did not receive that service, only after they found out that I had researched what really happened and that the casualty office was also looking into their mistake. As far as amending their mistake, too little and WAY too late doesn't even begin to cover it. And it wasn't made any better by the short matter-of-fact tone of the woman on the phone--in my opinion, the equivalent to her snidely saying 'Wha d'ya want ME to do about it now?'. We had family in town from across the country and their offer to have the servicemen come out another day for the family that still lives in the area isn't enough. For something as stark and final as death, they should have gone above and beyond to amend their haphazard mistake and that was not done, not even close. If Salerno's wants to fly my grandfather's out of state Son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter back in to complete the final ceremony, I'd reconsider my feelings, but anything less than that is simply unacceptable. I still can't believe they would even accept payment from a family after botching a service so badly. I hope any and all considering Salerno's read this first, and decide whether your loved one deserves to be dis-honored the ways ours was. Shame on you, Salerno's. This was such a rushed funeral for a 25 yr old sweet boy ! Ok, there were more than 1000 people but they rudely rush us through prayer and gave the family no direction. They had 4 funerals at the exact same time and they have a small kitchen where they wrote notes and stuck family name on the wall so you know which food was your groups ..just so unprofessional Thank goodness the family does not see most of that read more

My friend was told the temporary death certificate for a friend's family member would be available the day of service. They never went to get the certificates and he didn't have these important documents which delayed the distribution of his family assets. A whole week later, when he called Cindy in the office, she cut him off multiple times and was snippy, (I was in the room when he spoke to her). She explained that it would be extra money even though the funeral director Matt said he would have them when the service was originally paid for. During a period of grieving, Salerno's customer service is harsh. Reading other reviews here on Yelp, this seems to be a theme with Salerno's. Additionally, I was there to help my friend deal with things when the service ended at 9PM. We were given the ashes in an urn and in a bag. We were told the bag couldnt hold the weight of the urn and to carry it from the bottom. Of course our hands were full enough. One would think they would invest in bags that could carry the urns of people's loved ones. Lastly, the ceiling vents and ceiling panels were filthy. He was hoping the whole time no one would look up. read more

I'm relatively young, but since I'm from a large family, I've been going to wakes & funerals since about birth. Never have I ever come into contact with such cold & heartless people running a funeral home. The wake was fine, all went smoothly. The next day, we were to pray before leaving for the funeral mass. This started about 40 minutes after it was supposed to & the man leading the prayers barely took a breath in between lines. He was rushing so fast that I didn't know he was saying the Hail Mary until the middle of the prayer, something that I've been saying instinctively for many years. We proceeded to say our final goodbyes & since we were running behind, the spouse was literally pulled away from the casket after one whole minute. A minute. They were sobbing & very upset, they definitely needed more time but they were not given any. Personally, I was livid. I've never seen that, ever. It was very unprofessional. We had nothing to do with the fact that they didn't start on time, though the family certainly paid the price for their mistakes. Their facility is nice & up to date, but that's where the positives end. I would never recommend this place to someone who wants to pay their respects to their loved ones. The owners certainly don't care about respect or feelings of the family members left behind. read more

I wish I would have read the reviews before having them work on my father-in-law. My father-in-law looked beyond horrible. That last image of him will stay with us forever. We did everything right in taking care of my father-in-law over the years...but preparing him for his final resting place could not have been more screwed up. It is Heartbreaking for us! read more

I just attended my Aunt's visitation and service this past weekend and I was extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism at this funeral home. First of all when entered the home I was not greeted by anyone. I looked around a bit and was looking for a coat closet. I went back up the the front desk and a man sitting at the desk looked up at I asked about a coat closet. He said there was one in each chapel. I was surprised that I was not greeted and acted like I was bothering him. There was another viewing taking place. A very large family that was not respectful of others. I was shocked that there was only one kitchen and the food was all just on one counter. The other family basically took over the room and all of the counter space. They did not seem to realize there was anyone else there. It was extremely uncomfortable. It was very disorganized. The other family was eating our food. It was extremely unprofessional. Also the bathrooms were a mess and were not cleaned the entire day. I was there from 3-9. The next morning we arrived for my Aunt's service and was extremely surprised and could not believe that entire family for the viewing was there again at 9 am the same time as my Aunt's service. Seems like they could have had the services at different times. During my Aunt's service I could hear all the other family in the hallway being extremely loud and disrespectful. The most shocking thing I experienced this weekend was during my Aunt's service we were told to walk up and say our final good bye to my Aunt. As family and friends were coming forward there was the funeral director up at the front of the room to the left my Aunt collecting the pictures and removing the picture boards. I was mortified. I cannot believe how heartless he was. Did they need to room that fast they could not wait for us to leave the room... I obviously would not recommend this place to anyone. We had my husband's wake at Salerno's 6 months ago. The staff went above and beyond to help everything go smoothly. They were caring, kind and it was a beautiful ceremony. We went in to pre-arrange everything, they contacted our priest and church to arrange the funeral service, helped us with flowers, cemetery plots etc. They also assisted with some special requests. Filthy bathrooms, no soap in bathrooms, no hand sanitizer available. Staff seemed unconcerned when made aware. Also there was no assistance in stopping traffic during the procession at Higgins and Roselle road- a huge intersection - my mother and Aunt were in a terrible accident. So here I am at my sons best friends wake/memorial. All the boys drove their trucks here and also hauled DJs truck. They all pulled the trucks together in the parking lot to take some pictures. Such an emotional tribute!! Dj was 21. The love these "tough" boys showed was amazing. Just as the trucks gathered, the owner came out and literally yells "get these trucks out of here in 5 minutes or they're being towed"" are you kidding me???? Just like that. There is a much better way that could have been handled with respect and kindness!!!!! Shame on you!!! I will never recommend or step foot in this place again!!!!!
