I adopted my dog from here in 2017. He is such a good dog and I certainly got lucky. I originally…read morefostered him and then went in to sign the adoption papers. It was an easy process. I imagine an animal shelter can be a tough place to work, but all of the employees were very kind.

Today was an extremely heartbreaking day due to the negligence of management and staff at the St…read more Lucie Shelter. It was waived adoption fee day and I was prepared to adopt a certain dog I had prior knowledge I was promised to get by staff and management. I had called the day prior with ID number and name of the dog. Staff spoke with management who had then promised my name would be on the cage of the dog I was picking up. They also had my phone number. I went to pick her up and the same manager told me she was adopted two days ago. TWO DAYS AGO. Again, I gave the ID number and name to staff. They said , "Yes, she is still here." That was as of last evening. Then the manager authorized the hold. Imagine how heartbreaking it was to find out after I made expenses for this dog and was in the parking lot long before opening waiting to get the dog promised. The ONLY thing said by this manager was "We made a mistake" and "There are plenty of other dogs". Then he and staff watched us walk out in tears. Unacceptable. Unprofessional. Unorganized. Incompetent. I have been a donating citizen helping to raise thousands of dollars over the years for The Humane Society. I have rescues in my home. I believe the people running these shelters need to be held accountable for their negligence and owe the people better treatment than what happened to me. As upset as I was, I can not imagine if this would happen to someone's child getting a pet!

I love this place. It's like walking into another world. If you like cats, coffee, eating yummy…read moretreats and drinking alcohol, you've found your new home away from home. The owner Melanie and her daughter Victoria are an impressive mother daughter duo who run the cafe with grace, kindness and humor. Check it out and try any of their amazing drinks. Make sure to make reservations to play with the cats and kids need to be 5 years old to go in. You can stop in at any time without reservations and hang out in there cozy café and get some chill time in with the cutest ambience in the world I'm currently sipping on both of my beverages and watching people feed treats to cats and watching them play with toys and everyone is all smiles. Lots of adults with their kids it's really wonderful. Play date to take your kids there and then you can Adopt A Cat and bring a new family member home once you fall in love. I love this concept I am so proud to have A Cat café in my town and I've gotten to know the owner who is just the sweetest person ever. Stop on in and support your local business and get your coffees here. Shop small and help the cats. Forget starbucks and dunkin! Come here! Tastes way better.

The place is gorgeous and peaceful, the décor is absolutely beautiful, and it has an incredible energy. Melanie, the owner, is kind and incredibly warm. They have several kittens in a separate space, where you can play with them and spend time for a fee (which I disagree with). I think it would make more sense for everyone who visits to be required to make a purchase instead. Also, when you adopt, there are usually adoption fees involved as well, so having both feels excessive to me. For that reason, I'm giving 4 stars.
