The last time I adopted from there was years back, a cat, no offense to the previous administration but the improvements are amazing. They respond very quickly to any questions or request to see a pet after application is done. The kennels are all clean, animals well cared for. The don't leave you hanging for days when you call, ask questions or do application. The front desk ladies are extremely professional and well organized, as good, much better actually than other rescues I have seen. They have you bring in current dog to meet potential adoptee which to me is a GREAT idea, the young man that handled that was extremely knowledgeable and kind. In todays world of so many needy pets, they are the light at the end of the tunnel, wonderful people and amazingly professionally run. The adoption fee is also very fair considering how much it includes, getting a pet already spayed or neutered is a huge plus. I would recommend adopting from them to all who are looking for a furbaby to add to their family, Bravo SPCA!

A week later she called me while I was at work saying she had spoken with my landlord and that my apartment did not allow pets. I was quite confused because I had never heard of the woman she had spoken to, and I had asked her to put my application on hold and was now midway into adopting a dog elsewhere. I tried to calmly get to the bottom of the miscommunication, reminding her that I had sent her written proof of my pet policy over email, and that this was not my landlord she had spoken to. I suggested maybe it was a wrong number, or a new employee at the leasing office. She snapped at me "Would you just be quiet and let me talk!" At this point I told her to withdraw any of my information from her system, and never contact me again. I called my landlord and she said she had never spoken to Linda. This strange miscommunication should never have happened, as I had already requested my application be put on hold. It also could easily have been resolved if Linda had listened to me and conducted herself with professionalism. I am so happy I will be picking up my dog tomorrow from a more professional shelter. For these reasons I can unfortunately not recommend this shelter. But please, adopt (elsewhere) don't shop!

Linda and Ed are marvelous, honest, and very hard working and really care with a massive heart about what they do. They are strict about requirements to adopt from them. That is only because they want to do their very best to make sure any adopted dog is in the safest hands possible and that potential adopters are fully prepared and able to take the best care possible of any dog they may adopt. It is a lot about the dog and minimizing return to shelter situations. They really do dig deep into potential adopters, again this to make sure any adopted dog will be safe. Linda and Ed have made Gerties Small Dog Rescue their life, they have an excellent track record and are well respected in the community as well as within animal and rescue circles.

I took my babygirl on November 6 to get spayed...I pick her up around noon..they called me to say…read moreshe is ready to go home...I bought the collar $11.00..so she will not lick the area where surgery was performed....I called them on November 12th..told them something is wrong she has a very crusty white hard substance on the surgery area.U left a message and someone called me the next day..some woman told me it is nothing to worry about sometimes it takes longer to heal... not to worry (NOT TO WORRY) the area is not looking like it healing ..I said she sleeps all the time..the woman said well she is getting older..this lady was rude and short with me..she was not the vet.....then she said take her to your VET !!.that will cost me alot of money..they didn't refer me to any of their vets..BTW she still has thst stupid collar on 10 days !!!!!it hurts me that she has had that collar on her... and she is 4 months old...she was very active playing with her toys all day and playing with her brother...now all she does is sleep...all day and night..she is a kitten!! she didn't sleep all day....she walks right by her brother not wanting to play with him...she was a healthy kitten before I took her to that horrific SANS......I am calling my vet tomorrow she needs to be seen....SANS DOESN'T WANT TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY ...THAT LADY BLEW ME OFF.....this is a very sad situation...go to get this done with your vet NOT SANS.....they do surgeries like cats on a converter belt..they do not care about your baby..it s just another animal to practice spaying..who knows if they are even licensed to PERFORM surgeries!!!! there needs to be a investigation to what is going on there.....I am going after them...this is my babygirl and she is family...cheap price and half fast job...is what you get here......

Finnland's Fosters is a wonderful place that takes in cats who have been surrendered, dropped off…read moresomewhere and abandoned and have cared for every one! They get them fixed, if needed, shots , etc and screen adopters to be sure the kitties are going to safe and loving furever homes! The staff is wonderful and so caring of the cats and kittens that are there! They do rely on donations of money, food, litter, etc. to be able to take in more cats. They find foster families to care for mamas and their babies and post pictures of the available cats. I do donate as much as I am able. They truly do an amazing job!! They also have a gift shop to purchase items and that money goes directly to the caring of all the cats. Stop in if you're looking for a kitty to join your family- you will find the perfect one for you!!

Love this place! Volunteered here with my little one day and was so estatic to be back with a…read morevolunteer team from SUNY Oneonta. There are many cat rooms here with cats that have been neglected or left behind. There are also many dog kennels in areas that patrons do not see. You can look at dog photos on the wall to pick a dog to play with. There is an outdoor area for you to play with the dogs. My favorite cat is princess lord. She is adorable. This animal shelter accepts food, monetary, time, and toy donations. The ladies that work here are really nice. There is a thrift store across the animal shelter which donates all the money to the animal shelter. Support it! The Susquehanna Animal Shelter also brings the animals to the local colleges to help students and faculty to destress during finals week. Adopt , don't shop!
