I had two of my parents' cats spayed/neutered here. Don't be fooled by a bad looking building. The inside is a completely different story. It's clean. It's welcoming. And the lady upfront is just a sweetheart. I can't say a single negative thing about this business. The price is very reasonable especially for elder folks. I took my babygirl on November 6 to get spayed...I pick her up around noon..they called me to say she is ready to go home...I bought the collar $11.00..so she will not lick the area where surgery was performed....I called them on November 12th..told them something is wrong she has a very crusty white hard substance on the surgery area.U left a message and someone called me the next day..some woman told me it is nothing to worry about sometimes it takes longer to heal... not to worry (NOT TO WORRY) the area is not looking like it healing ..I said she sleeps all the time..the woman said well she is getting older..this lady was rude and short with me..she was not the vet.....then she said take her to your VET !!.that will cost me alot of money..they didn't refer me to any of their vets..BTW she still has thst stupid collar on 10 days !!!!!it hurts me that she has had that collar on her... and she is 4 months old...she was very active playing with her toys all day and playing with her brother...now all she does is sleep...all day and night..she is a kitten!! she didn't sleep all day....she walks right by her brother not wanting to play with him...she was a healthy kitten before I took her to that horrific SANS......I am calling my vet tomorrow she needs to be seen....SANS DOESN'T WANT TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY ...THAT LADY BLEW ME OFF.....this is a very sad situation...go to get this done with your vet NOT SANS.....they do surgeries like cats on a converter belt..they do not care about your baby..it s just another animal to practice spaying..who knows if they are even licensed to PERFORM surgeries!!!! there needs to be a investigation to what is going on there.....I am going after them...this is my babygirl and she is family...cheap price and half fast job...is what you get here...... read more

I have been doing private cat rescue since 1994 after rescuing my first cat while stationed in England while serving in the Air Force. I have spayed/neutered/fostered/adopted over 500 cats since then, to include trap/neuter/release (TNR). Aside from being a military veteran, I have also practiced for many years as a veterinary technician. I became involved with Spay and Neuter Syracuse (SANS) over a decade ago. I even worked for them for close to a year as their head veterinary technician. After resigning my position due to a hostile work environment, I continued to use their services. The turning point in my relationship with SANS was when I went to pick up a cat, over a decade ago, who had just been spayed. Upon arrival, the office manager at the time, Ellen, told me I shouldn't have come yet because my cat wasn't ready and she hadn't called me, and told me to leave. I told her it was close to 5pm and I hadn't received a call and had tried to call several times, so I decided to just head over to the clinic. I asked her how long it would be before my cat was ready and she said about 10 minutes. I chose to wait in the reception area, and she was annoyed by this. Several minutes later, Ellen came out with my cat in a carrier and dropped the carrier on the floor at my feet, so that it slammed on the floor and almost tipped over. I was in shock and told her she had no right to slam the carrier down when my cat was recovering from anesthesia, and I left. A few days later, I received a letter in the mail informing me that because I was not happy with how SANS provided their services, I was no longer allowed to use these services. Basically, I was banned. Fast forward to about three years ago (2000), SANS moved to a new facility and the staff changed hands. I had since married and had a new last name. I decided to see if I could make an appointment with them, as I hoped that maybe things had changed there. I was able to establish an account with them, and up until today, I have been bringing cats to SANS with no issues. Today, that changed. I had left a message for SANS several days ago, asking when the next date was to call in to schedule cats. No one returned my phone call, so I stopped by today, seeing as they were open. When I told them my name, a woman came out and informed me that I had "slipped under radar" and because of what happened over a decade ago, they were enforcing their ban that I can't use their services. I asked her why she would do that when I've been bringing cats there for the last three years, she didn't know the circumstances from over a decade ago, and the office manager I had the issue with no longer worked there. She ignored my question and instead asked me if I was a 501c3. I told her I was not. She then informed me that I couldn't use their services anyway if I wasn't a 501c3. So, I asked her if they were no longer allowing the public to schedule with them, and she said, "We try to accommodate everyone." Except me, obviously. I then asked her how she could enforce a ban on me from over a decade ago when the staff member I had the issue with no longer worked there. She claimed there were text messages exchanged between Ellen and me (I never knew Ellen's cell phone number back then) and that there was a police report (the police were never called). At that point, I told her there's a reason they have a low Google rating and that they were doing a disservice to the public by treating people any way they felt like, knowing they were the only deal in town. As I was walking out, the woman shouted after me to "have a nice day" and then added, "we don't offer services to lesbian cunts like you." I turned around and asked her exactly what she meant, and she said, "we know your wife is transgender and that's just wrong." I told her in no uncertain terms to fuck off (sorry for the language) and left. About an hour later, my wife received a call from a private number. The caller identified himself as a police officer and asked to speak to Amy Jade, so my wife handed me the phone. The officer told me he was responding to a 911 call placed by SANS, alleging that I entered their private property, knowing I was not allowed on the premises. I told him that was a lie, as I'd been entering that very property for the last three years and no one told me I couldn't, and not only that, but they were also taking my money and doing business with me. I also asked him why the staff at SANS were abusing the 911 system by calling when there wasn't an actual emergency. He responded that he was just doing his job. He asked for my birth date, and I asked why, to which he responded, "I'm conducting an investigation." I asked him if was going to arrest me if I didn't disclose my birth date and he told me he wasn't, so I told him to do an investigation into what my birth date was and hung up the phone. I'm not even sure he was a real cop. I am disgusted by this organization. read more

Took my Cat Zeus to get fixed. They are awesome. They do Ear cleaning, Flea treatment, Nail Trim, feline rabies vaccination. And it was only 70. There is a bit of a wait but it's well worth it. Best part was I was able to pick him up the same day :) read more

They killed my 5 month old 5 pound kitten after overdosing him on sedatives. We took Drake in to get neutered and about an hour before they closed we received a call telling us that his heart had stopped beating and instead of working to save his life they decided to call me and ask if I wanted him resuscitated when I had already checked yes in the paperwork. When we got there he was the last cat to have gotten operated on and it became clear to us that they were too concerned with their closing duties to give him the proper care. They allowed us to go in the back where he was on oxygen and the facility was dirty and the workers were impatient. We asked them what could be done and they were extremely negative, blaming Drake for not surviving the cocktail of sedatives that they had given him. I then asked one of the ladies how we were going to transport him to the emergency hospital in E Syracuse to which she responded, "we have no idea, we didn't think you would want to take it that far." Uhm what?! He's apart of our family of course we are going to do anything in our power to save him. After I told her this she called the hospital and told them that she had been working on three cats at a time, gave Drake his sedative and focused her attention on the other two cats. She overdosed him on his sedative which made his heart stop beating and was not even aware of it until she had finished up with the other cats. We don't know how long he was like that because when we asked she said she did not know. We trusted them with our Drake, our baby boy, only to have his precious life taken away from us. We asked that they keep him on oxygen in the hopes he would wake up, they said they would give him 30 more minutes (keep in mind that they were closing and he was the last cat). After 30 minutes they pressured us into making a decision and, after realizing we couldn't afford the hospital, we chose to take him home and pray for a miracle. We told them to take everything off of him and as they were doing that, another worker came over with the intention of euthanizing him having the needle drawn and everything. My stepfather was mortified and demanded that they stop all the while the workers are telling us that we should get going. No remorse, no intentions of saving him past their closing time, nothing. As we were leaving, Drake wrapped in a blanket unaware of what was happening, unresponsive to the environment, the ladies did not even issue us an apology, only guessing that he would live for another hour because I guess that's just what a grieving family wants to hear. We also had to go back for our refund and after it was refunded, one lady had the audacity to tell us to leave a voicemail and let her know when he passes because she was "curious". We dropped him off a healthy, playful kitten and drove home a comatose, dying kitten only to have him pass in our arms hours later. Please, I urge you to go to a different vet center. I know the price is attractive but the quality and the way the vets were working was like a conveyer belt. He was a 5 pound kitten... how much sedative did they give him to make him slip into a coma? They do not care about your animals, as we were leaving one worker tried to say something but didn't even know what his name was as if she felt no regret for what they had done to our baby. read more
