Firstly, I want to say that Lois is such a sweet lady. Upon entering the establishment, she greeted me and did not mind answering questions and explaining all of the dessert options that she offers. The pies were great! I am very picky about pecan pie; however, Lois' recipe did not disappoint. I would be apt to buying whole pies from her around the holidays or during any group dinners that I attend. Lois' spirit alone is enough for me to return here. It's a literal mom and pop operation. Somebody's grandma/big granny/yia-yia is in the kitchen baking like crazy. She offers close to 50 differs cakes and pies in total. Not all are available on spec, but put in an order and they'll have it for you. Along with the sweets, they also have comfort food. Burgers and fries and breakfast is available too. Humble pie is a perfect alternative to grocery store bakery goods. They are located just across the parking lot from the Humble post office. Humble Pie is a bakery and only a bakery. Although they do sell some sandwiches, it's obvious that their focus is on making great pies. Honestly speaking I did not know they were there until I saw a review in Yelp. I tried the pecan and buttermilk pies. They were both big - 9 inches in diameter and delicious. These are mostly pies made to order or made just hours before you pick up. They do mostly email, text and call in business. Both pies were rich and not overly sweet. They were delicious and flavorful and thoroughly different than what you would get in the grocery stores. Found out they make cobblers Peach, Cherry, Blackberry and others. WOW! Anyway, I ordered a Banana Cream Pie and a big Apple Pie. Came back a couple of days later to pick them pies up. I received a huge Banana Cream Pie and a "right out of the oven" huge hot Apple Pie. I fed them to my family over the weekend and they are gone. Nothing but 5 star reviews from my family. Humble Pies is a great little pie shop just east of downtown Humble adjacent to the Post Office. My favorite pies are the Pecan and Buttermilk. The crust on the pies is just so light and flakey and the filling on the Pecan and Buttermilk Is just right and not too sweet. The pies are delicious! Made from scratch right there. We tried strawberry and buttermilk today, and definitely recommend both! The couple that runs the place is super sweet! They have lots of choices if refrigerator pies and crisps and peach cobbler in the menu right now. By the slice or you can buy the whole pie. If there is a particular pie you want, get there a bit early; we got here after 2 and they were almost sold out of everything. Definitely worth a stop if you like sweets! read more

I went by Humble Pies a few weeks ago after reading the great reviews. Sadly, it was not a good experience. It started out with the door being locked even though the sign said that they were open. An older couple came to the door and let me in. I asked if they were open and they assured me that they were. The gentleman goes back to cooking something behind the counter. I asked a couple of general questions about what flavors of pies were available and the woman asked to see a photo ID- because "they had to know who they were dealing with" I had not indicated that I was paying by cash or by credit so there was no reason for her to ask me for my ID but I have nothing to hide so I handed it over. She inspected it for awhile- hands it back, and turns and walks to the back. I waited thinking she would be back in a moment but she didn't reappear and the man never said anything to me. Eventually I got uncomfortable and left. I don't know why they didn't want to serve me because I was polite and respectful even when asked for my ID. The only thing I can think of was that I was wearing my Blue Lives Matter face mask in support of my husband and all police officers. Regardless, I certainly won't be back. read more

Definitely a place for takeaway. It's simple, kind of shabby looking, and very out of the way. But the pies are AMAZING. Totally homemade from scratch, they have that artisanal quality to them and feel like they were baked by your grandma. It's worth the detour because it's a hostess gift that will make you feel all about that southern hospitality. I did love the other pies we enjoyed, (we got Chocolate silk pie and a peach cobbler, which were also delicious!) but my son who doesn't like Key Lime Pie ate two slices and begged for more. I have been eyeing this place over a year. I live on south side of Houston. I was on this side of town this weekend. Went by Saturday and they were out of most items. Owner said I could order and pickup Sunday. I picked up key lime pie and was extremely pleased. I saw a pound cake that was being prepared for a customer. Very disappointed!!!! the day before Fathers Day, I ordered two pies and was told they would be ready on Father's Day by noon. I Arrived at noon and was told she needed another hour. I Arrived again at 2:30pm and noticed another couple leaving very upset. When I entered, I was told that's she wasn't going to be able to fulfill my order. i also noticed that when she took my order the day before, my name was in one column. So I never buy pie because it is, for the most part, a disappointment. I had been hoping for a local bakery that made pies like the kind you would find wearing a blue ribbon at a county fair. I was not disappointed one bit when I happened upon Humble Pies. Not a fancy shop, just a little lady and her kind husband taking orders for the most delicious pies. If you really want to buy a whole pie, plan ahead and give her a day or so to prepare your order though she does have some ready to go and lots of pie by the slice. Ordered pies a week early for Thanksgiving, paid for them in person, went to pick them up on Thanksgiving Day at the designated time, and was told they would be ready in three hours. Went back in three hours and was told, they "ran out." Many others didn't receive theirs as well. Very bad business. Had to scurry to find another bakery open on Thanksgiving. read more

Either the phone never gets answered the door never gets unlocked or they just happen to sell out of the last pie if I get to talk to a live person.
