I'm glad I checked this place out while stopping in Eureka. I absolutely loved the honey and strawberry lime cider I had in my flight. If you prefer sweeter ciders these two may be for you. The honey cider was one of their own, but the strawberry lime was a rotating tap. The upstairs area was reserved for a private party but there was still adequate seating/ standing area downstairs. Glad to have went to a cidery on a recent trip to California! Humboldt Cider Company has a location in Eureka but I believe they are originally based out of Arcata which is right nearby. It was very convenient to go to this location because it was in fairly close proximity to our hotel as they are both in the downtown vicinity. For this cidery I tried two of their ciders, both which were very refreshing to drink. These Nuts was the first cider I tried. It did come across as nutty but other features to it were Apple, dryness and a bit of spice. The second cider came highly recommended so I gave it a try which was their Cherry Cider which was sweet, tart, clean flavored and sour. Definitely enjoyable ciders and relaxing and moody atmosphere makes this place very suitable to kick back and relax a while. read more

Visited this place (cough-cough, after work hours!) a couple of nights during a business trip. Staff were super accommodating to us cider newbies and gave us their favorite picks as a nice starting point. We opted for flights of tasters and almost none were disappointing! Honey was a bit over sweet as my coworkers informed me. So many great sour flavors and nuances to be had. Some memorable include Cherry, Friends with Benefits, Imperial Blueberry, Smoke and Mirrors, and Dank Vader. Love, love, love their ciders! We are in town for a short time and have visited their tap room twice now! We have been to Eureka twice before, the first time was 2017 and tried their cider at the local fair. Sadly I can't get these anywhere close to home, so it's a nice treat when we are in town. They had so many different styles and tastes. If you like cider... even if you don't, stop in and try a few. You just might be surprised. If you go to the tap room, they are open on a Monday. I've been drinking this cider for a while at Gilman brewery in Berkeley and was so excited to be up in Eureka to visit. Our bartender was super friendly assisting us as we were overwhelmed with excitement. The tasting option is perfect for the indecisive (me) and allows you to taste the depth of their menu. Such a great place to sit back and relax! I stayed in Eureka for a weekend getaway, and a few friends and I tried a total of 10 tastings. Each little cup of cider is ~$2 with the exception of specialty ciders. The staff is incredibly helpful and welcoming, and there's some board games in the back for customers to use as well. We were randomly driving through Eureka on a spontaneous road trip this weekend and the brewery we wanted to check out was still closed due to the pandemic so we yelped this place. So happy it was open and even happier they were following COVID safety protocols. We wanted to grab a couple ciders to go but some didn't have a can so we ended up sitting in their upstairs area drinking it. I had the tangerine turmeric ginger kombucha...absolutely delicious!! We also tried the candied pecan cider. Super tasty!! That was with cider (alcohol). We took blueberry and cherry home to try so haven't had a chance to try it yet. But looking forward! Cool craft cidery! I came in on a Saturday afternoon - right at opening time - which as I recall I think was 2:00 pm. I sat at the bar and ordered a tasting flight of ciders: Friends With Benefits (6.9% ABV) Imperial Blueberry (11.0% ABV) Drysdale (6.9% ABV) Humboldt Blend (6.5% ABV) Rants & Raves Whisky Barrel Aged (7.6% ABV) There are a whole lot more cider options to taste than these five, but I limited myself to 5 as I was driving. I want to say that there were as many as 20 or so ciders to choose from. I enjoyed all of them, but I especially enjoyed the Imperial Blueberry, the Humboldt Blend, and the Rants & Raves Whisky Barrel Aged. How can you go wrong aging anything in Whisky Barrels!? The young lady working the counter was nice and personable. She did manage to splash me with some cider while attempting to fill a growler for another customer. Oh well, probably good for my skin! My favorite ciders come from Humboldt Cider Co! They have some of the best ciders I've ever had - not too sweet and great flavors. Try the Drysdale, Honey or Imperial Blueberry. They also have some wine, beer and Kombucha options. I've only been to the location at redwood acres previously during fall/summer and this was my first time at the tap house. They have more options here than at the redwood acres location. The taproom is located right off of 5th Street/101 near many great restauarants in Eureka and there's plenty of parking on the street. They don't offer food on their menu, just little bagel bites and pie. The taproom is nice and clean with plenty of seating available either at the bar, at a table, or on the second floor. I feel I liked the chocolate cider at The Local Cider Bar, but since they are both from Humboldt Cider Co it could be the exact same one for all I know, and that pie really influenced my mood that day. I liked the honey the most of this batch, as I really did taste some honey flavor. Pepperoni Bialy $5: Frankie's had run out of these when we visited earlier in the day, so we were excited to get to try it here. Seeing it reminded me of how I loved bagel bites as a kid. Pretty casual and chill with music playing at a decent level for conversation. Arrived an hour before closing on Sunday to an almost empty bar which quickly filled up. Check out the boards to see what's on tap; a sad face means they're out. Fill out a card and try a flight of up to 5 "ample samples", which are around 4ounces each. BF and I got buzzed surprisingly quick after a few sips. Take a growler home of the one you really like (mine was Cherry). The growler is a cool souvenir style jug that features the artwork they have on their walls. We'll definitely be back on our next trip up north! read more

Visited the taproom after walking around Old Town. My gal and I ordered two sets of tasters. In total we had 10 different ciders with about 3-4oz each for ~$22. CIDER - our favorites were the passion of the fruits, cherry and honey. Would definitely recommend blending the cherry and honey. The flavor with pecans was interesting and blueberry definitely tasted strong. We tried one seltzer that could have been skipped as the ciders were much better. The rest of the samples were not too memorable, but we enjoyed having a variety. AMBIANCE - staff was friendly and gave some taster suggestions. We enjoyed the space and stayed for over an hour playing games. They have a few games in the back along with some books! Would definitely recommend! I just love this place so much! You can try everything for $2-3 a sample and they have at least 15 different ciders on any given day. You can get a to-go jug at a very reasonable price and enjoy in your own space to avoid drinking and driving. Staff is always friendly. The only thing they lack is consistent snack options. I suggest you plan to eat at Paul's Pizza either before or after and you can wander around (before dark) and see all of the wall art in the area. This place is off the hook....beware this place is SERVICE ANIMAL ONLY and there is no pet friendly patio so leave your pups at home. We tried so many different ciders between our two visits. The highlights were the imperial blurberry - at 10.8% you can barely taste the alcohol. The sunset rubdown and passion of the fruit were both great as well and you can taste the fruits they use in all their drinks. Love this place! My mom recently moved to eureka and I've been here both times I've visited her. The tap room is small, but has never been too crowded when I've gone. I love that you can get different sized pours so you can taste everything. Their prices are reasonable and the cider is delicious. I stumbled upon this place while searching for some good eats on Yelp. My husband and I are visiting escaping the 105° of Redding. What a find this place was! Local ciders, beers and kombucha on tap! I had a flight of ciders and the hubs had a pint of IPA. We both loved everything we tasted. Most varieties were available as an "ample sample" for $2+ depending. Unfortunately the cider I loved the most was not available to take home with us in a small growler, but I think that only guarantees we will be back for another pint!
